Brother man Paul, outstanding review. I put the studio headphones on for this one and all I can say is, wow. It's not only beautiful, but it has a crazy great sound with a touch of brightness that I'm unaccustomed to with an all hog guitar. I would forecast that this is likely going to be quite a popular video! Great playing, as always, brother man 👍
I bought a D-20 last month and can only confirm everything you said. It really amazed me! It has a beautiful sound and infinite sustain. Fantastic guitar!
I just bought a new Guild USA M20.. which the does not have the deep dread sound… because it’s the 00 version of what you have..but it still sounds rich. I love it.
Paul, if you're a strummer, I HIGHLY suggest you find bone and wooden pins of the sane manufacturer to swap them back-and-forth while they fit a guitar the same way. I did that many times, and as a strummer I prefer wooden pins. When you hit many strings with a pick quickly, bone sounds a bit too harsh/metallic, and maybe a bit muddy, strings separated a bit too much. AND dynamic range os reduced because bone pins are a few grans heavier, but it still makes a difference. Wooden pins, on the other hand, make guitar a bit more sensitive, let it breathe more, and strings' sounds blend smoothly into chords. Love all-mahogany guitars, yours has a great tone!
Great advice! I am actually going to get a set of wood pond for this, as I think it will be a great match, both sonically, and aesthetically Thanks for the suggestion 🙏🎸
@@paulgeorgia8013 You're welcome! Mahogany top is compressed and tough enough, on my all-hog guitar bone was an overkill. I tried ebony and was amazed with how much it opened the guitar up. Then I tried both bone and wooden pins on every guitar, and no matter the tonewood combination, rosewood/ebony had always been better. However, if I were a finger picker or a soloist, I might prefer bone pins for more complex sound and more of a "bite", maybe even more sustain.
I JUST BOUGHT ONE FROM SWEETWATER, CANNOT WAIT TO GET IT, HAD IT PLEXT AND BONE PINS, MAN DOES THAT SOUND GOOD, BUT IT IS A NITRO FINISH....LOOK IT UP, I HAD A MARTIN D-15 ALL MAHOGANY, GOT RID OF IT, GUILD DESROYED THE MARTIN, THX , GRAT VIDEO, LOOK UP FINISH IT IS A NITRO, BOUGH WILDLY KOYOTE TRUUS ROD COVE BECAUSE OF YOU THX, HE MAKES GREAT STUFF, THX, GOD BLESS, STAY SAFE, JOE!!!!
Paul , I do believe you have a winner there ! They are something about Guild ,, I guess you could say they are the "Under Dog" of guitars. Guild did have a good run in the 80`s but I think it was a fad thing with the Folksters and they went back to Martin`s. Now just close your eyes and play and see if a little bit of Hank Jr and Waylon comes out !
I HAD A MARTIN D-15, THIS IS A NITRO LOOK IT UP, I JUST BOUGHT ONE FROM SWEETWATER, THE MARTIN D-215 MAHOGANY DOES NOT COMPARE TO THIS GUITAR, BOUGHT WIILY COYOTE TRUSS ROD COVER, THX BRO, GOD BLESS, BE WELL, JOE!!!!, GUILD MAKES THE BEST ACOUSTICS IN THE WORLD PERIOD, I AM A VIETNAM ERA DISABLED VET, GOD BLESS, BE WELL, JOE!!!!!
Hi Joseph, first - thank you for your service. ❤️🙏. So here’s the deal with the finish on mine. California was giving Guild a hard time about spraying nitro when they first opened out there a few years ago. So they used this varnish rub. They’ve since switched to nitro, having obtained their permits. I love Guilds - check out my D55 video if you get a chance. Glad you liked Wile E Coyote. He rocks! Thanks so much for watching, God Bless 🙏🎸😎

Brother Randy, thanks so much for the great assessment. This one’s got all the tools in the shed. I really appreciate your support! 🙏🎸😎
Got one. And no matter where I play, somebody ( guitar players ) always ask about it. They love it
@@geoff6825 they’re really great, aren’t they

I’ll bet it’s awesome. Guild is still making great guitars. Thanks for watching 🙏🎸😎
Projects very well. I like the 55 still. It’s very trebly and the 55 much deeper. I’d like to hear them together. I’ve always liked Guild .
Hmmm that gives me a great idea for a new video! Thanks! 🙏
