On another note, Alexis took a big leap for women's skateboarding and that's always good. There's obviously more men skateboarding around the world than there is women and women don't have as many years into the sport as men (well not as much is what I mean). So hopefully the sport will grow for them... as a matter of fact for everyone!

I really don't like the guys who say what I'm about to say, but the skill level between male and female is INSANE. With a fair amount of practice I could hit the run she just hit, and I'm not even amateur....
I hate to admit it, but it's kinda true what you're saying... I personally think it has to do with the male and female hormones and the shape of our bodies. Men automatically have more muscular legs, torso, and arms with the same physical training as women. And I think the hips play an import role when jumping or ollieing (probably spelled that wrong) in the air. Men get more air and thus allowing them to expand their tricks while women, with bigger hips, don't get as much air.
I don't want to seem like I'm hating on women in skateboarding, but if you even pay the slightest attention to all of the women's skateboarding in the X-Games, every single line goes something like this: >kick flip >kick flip or an ollie >ollie or a boardslide >50-50 with either a 180 or a kick flip Every Fucking Time.

there are girls out there doing harder tricks than kickflips and 5050s. maybe just not in the x games... for example...lacey baker, rachel reinhard, leticia bufoni, vanessa torres, amy caron... i myself am a lady skater, and i can easily say that i do way more than kickflips and 5050s...but i can't go as big as alexis .
but the fact that she is one of the best in the world and had the best run that day yet that run was still awful, she isn't that good considering she just fucking won X Games
