As a proud Washingtonian... I'm diggin' this shit! Junkyard. Essence. Backyard. Chuck. E.U.. The Huck-a-Bucks. D.C. at it's finest! Much respect!!!!!!!!
Man I was there then at the very beginning this video took me back and literally gave me chills especially when the reporter was introducing them at the end. Great Job ! You are a leader and thanks for preserving true DC culture and history
Good job on your coverage, bro! Born and raised in Texas, I found out about the Go-Go movement around the late 80s as some DC cats enlisted into the Army. They would be stationed in Fort Hood (Killeen,Tx) and would come to Waco on the weekends. They would pull up in Buick Regals while blasting them songs and had EVERYBODY hooked on it! Good memories!
JYB and JYD were black staples of the 80's and 90's... Plus these local legends were the only people I heard of to help boost the sales of Sardines and Pork-N-Beans lol... Chocolate City 4 Life!
I remember like it was yesterday saying junkyard play in the sky house even though I was only 9 years old and 83 I remember a lot of good things as well bad things I watched all of these guys grow up to be men My uncle Derek McCray was a very stern man at keeping these guys together and he did not play he treated each one of them like they was his own son My address and Berry farm is 11:38 Eaton Road Southeast
I grew up listening to Junk. Then migrated to Groovers and before i moved to Fla Backyard was that crank. They had some new bands coming up as i was leaving like Raw Image, TCB, UCB. Junk was the band that set me off tho
Buggs, heavy one, and Brian to everyone else he's known as Pratt, started the band by playing their instruments in the hood, and I think it was 1980 as I was told grabbing pot's and pan's out the house I remember Brian AKA Pratt bringing girls to the house and singing to them in his bedroom 😂😂😂
I remember jyb far back as 1980 dc can movie at beginning of movie they also seen them at the silver spring bus stop club with ayre rayde the had the original buckets and pans and members little Mike was killing it backing up buggs thank ayre rayde for taking them under there wings
No shit! I tell people all the time that’s how that main police building actually got named after him hat cop because of Benny Lee Lawson. Remember that like yesterday
Most of them was NOT killers. Not saying some of them didn't do what they did..but to say they all was??? Come on man don't put that on them good brothers. If that's true why did most of JY members never get locked up?
@keep tellin🤡 you can't put murder on someone name unless you know it for fact. You telling me you know the dudes they hit or something or you just supposing these good blackmen was murderers bc they had a couple wild dudes in the band? Everybody in JY wasn't street dudes..do you even know the names of the men in the band?
