I must say…They SEVERELY understate the complexity of the two hitch bolts…mine were somehow 18mm bolts and had been RED Loctite’d in at some point (I doubt that was factory)…it took an air driver like 3 tries and a 24” breaker bar to loosen mine. Not to mention removing the hitch completely…all I’m saying is don’t underestimate the process…but the result is totally worth the effort…the extra stability from the hitch bracket is awesome!

Just finished putting one of those rear bumpers on my 03 disco 2.
    Heres a couple of tips:
    1. The long bolts holding the hitch receiver to the chassis have red thread locker on them. Heat them up with a torch for a couple of minutes first and they'll come out way easier.
    2. I tried putting the bumper on the way they do it in the video but I had a lot of trouble. It was easier to remove the hitch receiver entirely, lift the bumper into place, bolt it on with the bolts behind the fog lights, and then raise the hitch receiver back into place and fasten it in.

why wasn't the bumper made so it stuck out about three inches further. Then you wouldn't have to cut the grill.

Because that lessens the approach angle, which is more important to an offraod vehicle. Although it hurts cutting up your truck the first time, it geats easier as the trail scars collect. Function over form :)

Does removing the crush cans make it a less safe vehicle, or are they simply for low impact absorption?
