Great design and tool. I would really like to build one but need more detailed plans with deminsions. What are the two tapered gears that you are usings? The plate appears to be 4" X 4" and the threaded stoch is 1/2"?
Love the video I’m gonna have to make one. I just don’t know what the part is that looks like a gear. Also the parts that mounts to the bottom plate with the bearings in it. I don’t know the name of those parts or where to get them. Cheers
Very awesome! Now just need to hook up a dc motor to replace the crank and some kind of way to hold the wire straight with a bit of tension so you can just start the feed and it’ll do the rest automatically.
Wow! This is definitely the best diy wire stripper design I've seen 👍👍 Using a pipe cutter wheel/disc instead of some sort of razor or blade, just brilliant!! And it quick adjusts for multiple size wire on the fly......?? Too cool! 😎😎 Thanks for sharing
No it is not practical and easy to build for the average beginners. Where do you get those gear rollers, and if you don't have a vise how you keep this stripper unit steady? I bet you this stripper can not peel small stranded soft wire like the one that comes from extention cord or power cord from devices....
Excellent design of concept. For large volume of heavy gauge scrap the proportion of this device could be increased with an addition of a electric motor and gear reduction. Thanks for the vid.
I think you made wonderful crancking tool and if I were you I would've install small motor instead and enjoy the process but overall your creativity inspired. Thanks for sharing.
Firstly, bravo. This is amazing, and filming is superb. Adjustment - is the biggest time-waster of strippng. If you could make the blade ratchet up/down with a tumbscrew click-click-click: You'd have a massive edge over competition.
How well does it work for stripping the copper wire out of the plastic insulation? All I saw was stripping three smaller insulated wires out of a larger wire... or was this the sole intended purpose?
Hello, I bought a hand crank wire stripper but the gears do not hold the wire, they just slide under the wire. Do you know where I can find the gears you are using. Maybe they would work better. Thank you.
In the process of making one of these for larger cable. I have tons of 350 and 4/0 GGC cable to strip which is difficult with just a razor knife... I have an electric stripper for the individual wires, just not the entire cable diameter. Going to figure out a way to drive it with the same motor as the electric stripper I already have.
Hi there , Might i ask for measurments regarding the bevel bearings , or better ask you to leave links for us to follow at all ????? I'm in desparate need of this device in my world , I'm going to make a double one ,,,,,,, one for big wire , and the other for small :) Much thanks , Adrian
My brother-in-law strips wire by hand and it takes him a long time. He has and collects a lot of wire so I think I will make one of these for him. You did a really nice video 👌👍😊.
Awesome build!!! Huge question!! How much to build one for a individual? I believe I could possibly follow your video IF I had the tools, flat stock, all thread, gears and most of all the patients lol... But would much rather buy one from you and know it's right and works.
@@DIYFixMan Hello sir, Im impressed with the wire stripper that you made. Im Del from Philippines. And Id like to have that kind of wire stripping machine that you built. Amazing
Busy to try and build similar one. Just dont have those gears.... Soo im gona try using big diameter gears on outside and between them smaller gears so you get the hourglass shape in center
Excellent work brother. I really appreciate your effort and work. Really amazing. But something is lacking that is components name. Plz also add and upload components names in subtitle.
I really appreciate people like you! Especially during times such as these! Many valuable options for retaining our liberty is extremely helpful! Thanks for sharing! You've got a new sub!
I could have used this today . I was stripping heavy duty plastic off aluminum wire . Design looks great I wonder if 3/4 plywood be sufficient.? Works like a champ.
What I see that there is no any welding works in this idea !!! what a nice job ...But with little of thinking to add hard spring to push down cutting holder instead of balance it Manually
Take a board clamp.it to a table drill a series of holes each larger than the last in a line keeping one edge of each hole 1 in from edge the screw 1.25in screws into the holes enough to pierce insulation after inserting wire through appropriate size hole create a crank handle to pull the wire and spool it on a dowel
Thanks my friend, the truth is I have made a number of upgrades since I made the video. Currently I can undress both very thin wires and I have also connected an electric motor that will make it turn instead of turning manually.
For those wondering what those gears are called. Those are Bevel Gears. I'll try to make this one myself. Only missing the bearings but I know a local dealer.
That's impressive bro! You have bolts at your work? Wow are you some kind of special agent or something?? All this time and we had nuts and bolts on site after all! I'll go ahead and tip off the media. This is going to be a HUGE story. Your work must be like the Pentagon.
That would be great for large cables but not so much single wire unless you add some sort of guide for the smaller stuff. Thought maybe I could be wrong and then sure enough you wrapped up the smaller wires and didn't try them. Still is a nice easy design that anyone can do without needing precision machining. Great job.
So this a really cool idea only problem is you haven't mentioned what size of anything you used. Could you put that information in the description or perhaps pin the comment? Thank you.

They are Transmission type gears.

They are called bevel gears, easily found on eBay. Like $20 for the pair.
