Best Puerto Vallarta Hotels (starting at $34/night)!

  • Showing you my 4 favorite Puerto Vallarta hotels, several of which are perfect for those on a budget! One of the hotels was $34 per night! In my opinion each of these hotels are the best places to stay in the Zona Romantica and Centro areas of Puerto Vallarta.
    For each hotel, I will give you a room tour, show you the amenities, talk about the location and let you know if there are any downsides to the hotel. Each is a small, boutique hotel, perfect for soaking up the authentic feel of PV.
    These hotels are great alternatives to an all inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta if you're looking to try something new. Also great for solo travelers, budget-conscious and those on a honeymoon or couples vacation.
    They all have pools, A/C and are centrally located - walking distance to the beach, malecon and restaurants and bars. Some of these hotels are adult only, feature rooftop infinity pools and serve a daily hot breakfast.

    When we were planning our recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, my husband happened on this video. We really liked the sound of Rivera del Rio, so we booked it and absolutely loved it! We were in the Alejandro room, so we had a nice big terrace, as well as a small kitchen, 1.5 baths, and direct access to the smaller pool. We also enjoyed the rooftop pool and the amazing sunsets. We really liked the location. Given that it is just slightly removed from the more lively areas, it was very quiet. But plenty of shops and restaurants were just a stroll away. My husband loved the huevos rancheros and had them every morning for breakfast. It's probably also a good thing that Eulo's Bakery is a little further away. We probably would have eaten way too many of their delicious pastries if we had been closer. We did experience low water pressure in the shower a couple of times, but we would happily go back this hotel if we get back to PV another time.

    This was very helpful! We visited in late March and stayed at an all-inclusive in the northern part of PV BUT, we visited the malecon and zona romantica quite a lot. Now that I’ve seen this video I’ll definitely consider a different option for our hotel next time 😊

    Hi Aly! Appreciated your input about these hotels. We are presently staying at the Riviera Del Rio and I have to say, it’s not my cup of tea. They asked prior if we wanted to upgrade, which we did (wish I hadn’t) one: we don’t know what we originally had and got the Vanity. Room was filthy. I mean footprints on the wall, toilet had urine on it before we used it so not at all happy with that and we told the concierge and he (Max) just smiled and said sorry. I mean this is an upgrade, which is more money so it better be nice but it was not. Breakfast was included which is not worth it and the walk was a bit much. I’m nothing like a (Karen) so please keep these things in perspective. The weather was not as nice for us. Overcast and rain so you do not want to walk the distance plus I have injuries and had to wear my Brooks to do all the walking. No sandal’s girls! And if you’re not getting all inclusive which this hotel is not then you do not want the upgrade especially not the Vanity room. Chairs are uncomfortable and the sink is the worst. I will love to come back but will not stay at Rivera Del Rio again!!

    The Rivera is on my list to stay already. They all look just fine, the Liquida is great. Here’s my own tip, when in town in the hills walk down, taxi up. Casa Kimberly was my go to BnB but has been sold and is an expensive boutique hotel. It was fun living in Liz Taylor’s house for the weeks I spent there but is too costly now. I learned then it was a dollar to get up that hill behind the Cathedral, and is located around the Corner from Liquida.

    Hi Aly...Enjoy your blogs and posts as they contain loads of very useful information. One area of confusion though was your favourite 4 boutique hotels. The first one I checked was Hotel De Roger with the best room price was 34 dollars! I have stayed at this hotel in the past so I know it well. Went to their website to take a look and with a stay during the xmas time frame, the per day price for the cheapest room was about 130 dollars, not 34 dollars or any remotely close. Checking the price for a trip in March for the same room, price about $115 for the cheapest room. Are you sure about the $34 dollar? I can understand a current price increase but this increase now quoted is crazy.

    • @alysmalls
      @alysmalls  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That was the price when I stayed there in early November 2022, so prices will have gone up. I just checked and there are rates for $59. Xmas and popular times like March break are going to be higher.

    I'm sure it might be a tough choice, but if you had to pick between Rivera Del Rio vs. Luna Liquida, which one you pick?

    • @alysmalls
      @alysmalls  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very tough choice! The pool scene is slightly better at Rivera (there's a bar up there and the pool is heated) - so if you want a little more lively go with Rivera. If you're after quiet & relaxation and like doing your own thing, Luna would be it. The rooftop area is larger and there's a cooler for your drinks and there are 2 community kitchens if you want to make any meals.

    For Luna Liquida, does every room have a private bathroom or is it shared per floor in the common area? Some other videos seem to imply the rooms themselves don't have private bathrooms but all the room descriptions online say they do. Also outside of one shot in this video at the larger room all the other photos don't seem to show private bathrooms. Also the photos on booking sites show the same bathroom for both Sirena rooms for example.
    It's a tad confusing.

    We have been visiting Vallarta since the 80's. We never stay in old town any more AKA Zona Romantica.. Too busy. Too many tourists. It is over run. If you want to save some $ on accoms, try the S end of the "hotel zone". There you will find small posadas for a great price. Small hotels where Mexicans stay. So there are less turistas under foot. After all, you are in Mexico, why not stay at a hotel where you will meet Mexicans? Instead of dealing with blank eyed blanco gentes?
