You should think about getting the 37mm wide and telephoto lenses for it. I have those and they come in handy. On my videos the wide angle lens is awesome in my tightly confined room. Also look into some of the filters you can get for it as well.
I have this camcorder and it is great. Nice accessories and everything. The picture quality and photo quality is superb. The only downside is that I bought it when it first came out, and paid a lot of money for it. Also, the 60 gigabyte hard drive is quick to fill up with HD video.
its just an usb cable to micro usb. You can buy these adapters at any local cam store or u could try to use your android recharger or the ps3 controller recharger.
Zeiss...like nice with a 'z'. Great camera, great video -- really want to get one. Currently using a Leica point and shoot for my videos -- time for an upgrade!
So I have a HDR cx560. Can u tell me which is better. And what did this cam cost brand new. I paid a grand for mine. And does this have the steady while walking feature?
how did you get that quality from the Sony HDR-SR11 onto youtube?? when you render your video dosent it make the quality downgrade? pleasssee. i want to know. thank you! :D
Nice review E.B! Thanks! I had emailed you about doing a review on this a while back, glad you finally got a chance to do so. So what do you use to transfer the videos over to your Mac? I heard that Sony Camcorders weren't very Mac friendly in regards to transferring the videos. Any probs with it? Thanks again. ;-)
Do you know if the camera can be connected to a Mac? You said in your review that you connected your camera through the usb port to your Mac. I can't do that. When I insert the cable appears the word "Preparing...", but it stays forever without seeing the icon in the computer. Any suggestions?
Hi, I have this little cam... I am trying to find a affordable (college student) wireless head microphone that can hook up to this cam any ideas??? (I really do not want to spend 500 plus bucks the cheaper the better while I am starting off.) Thank you ahead of time!
he hooks it up to iMovie 09 all the time. once you plug it in..iPhoto should open, then after that open iMovie, and go import, and it should be detected.
i have the camera, i record with it in the full HD format and upload it to my computer, i then press convert to wmv but it doesn't give me the option of full hd. please answer Thanx
I believe sony discontinue the SR7-SR11 cameras because they realized they put the real HD quality in this camera..they realize 1080 res was going to be around for a while. this camera was ahead of it's time..so they pull this one and sold us other water down HD cameras that boast 1080 res for under $500...
Awesome review man, keep it up. I'm now doing and editing videos for my school and I'm trying to find a HD camera. In your comment below you said you got it for $700 at Amazon. Just wondering if it's used ot new that's $700. Thanks! ~Terry~
Muito massa cara! (It´s very nice guy!) Eu quero esta camera ! (I want this camera!) Eu vou comprar esta camera! (I get buy this camera!) Tchau! (bye!)
I bought one about four yrs ago. nowadays, they are much smaller without the hard drive. I'd would rather carry a couple more memory cards in my pocket and have a camera half the size.
Ok so I know that the video is 4 plus years old but I'm looking for a sony cam with hd and night vision. I found this cam for under 500. Is this a good one to get or can you recommend another sony hd cam like this. Thanks.
Definitely the Sony PJ760V. Has 90GB of internal storage which equals out to about 36 hours of recording. Has night vision, high speed video, built-in projector, Steady Shot with "Active Mode," and is overall one of the best 2012 models Sony put out. Records in Full 1920x1080p @ 60fps,2?fps and 1080i @60fps. (NTSC that is)
Wow! That's awesome. I hesitated on making the purchase because "the idiot" at Best Buy told me that it wasn't really Mac friendly. Anyway, thanks for the review and your quick response. Will definitely have to purchase one now. ;-)
Hey there, are you familiar with "photo SFX art" (search on Google for it)? On their website you can watch a good free video demonstrating the right way to shoot outstanding photographs. This helped Joe to take photographs that have that jaw-dropping-effect while you look at them. Perhaps it will help you too.
Come on, every video test of this camcorder just HAS TO HAVE music in the footage, I don't only want to see the video quality, I also want to hear sound quality.
its really 1,199$?!?!?!?!? god i wish i had a job i have a 720x640 handy cam and its good but i crave HD. sure windows movie maker helps but still looks kinda crappy
I have this camera. When it came out, it was a few years ahead of its time. Sometimes they just get it right. It's still better in many respects than say, a cheapie video cam made today.
Its USB...i connect the USB. iPhoto Automatically Opens and it ask do i want to import any images that are on the camcorder. iMovie Recognizes the Camcorder, and i can watch adn import all of the footage..This cam is very mac-friendly
This is a nice camera. I have one myself and it works wonderfully.
excellent video - i agree 100% with your review. I've been using the hdsr11 for approx 1.5 years and I simply love it...
5 ***** stars
well done macintoshtipz
because the entire image is displayed at once, as opposed to half of it in lines. Creates for a smoother picture in motion heavy conditions.
You should think about getting the 37mm wide and telephoto lenses for it. I have those and they come in handy. On my videos the wide angle lens is awesome in my tightly confined room. Also look into some of the filters you can get for it as well.
i have trouble uploading it on my computer what can i do...it says the codec is required so my pc can read it... idk what to do?? help?

Thanks for the review! I'm looking for a new HD camera (my first HD one) and this might be the one I buy. Thanks!
Good review of the camera. I suggest using a Lavalier mic in the wide shot.
I had to turn it up, the beat is awesome!!
can you tell me something about the slow motion effect for this camera?
Zeiss...like nice with a 'z'. Great camera, great video -- really want to get one. Currently using a Leica point and shoot for my videos -- time for an upgrade!

As of right now...which camera wold you prefer? Sony or Canon....and which model.
youtube changed it so that viewers have to let the video load all the way before it counts as a view
I was just wondering if you could change the lens on this camera? like attach a fisheye??
i have a question, with wich camera you record this video??? it that was with this sony cam???

@MrRappen yeah, it says at the end in the Pros/Cons

It will be dumb if I trade my hdr-sr11 for a Canon t3i win a fixed 50mm lens?
he hooks it up to iMovie 09 all the time. once you plug it in..iPhoto should open, then after that open iMovie, and go import, and it should be detected.
@KaosSlayer7 Use sony PMB. Then import, then import to your favorite editing program. I use Sony Vegas 9 personally. Good luck!!!!!
Priserna videa vse rozmazane zrnite ???
i have the camera, i record with it in the full HD format and upload it to my computer, i then press convert to wmv but it doesn't give me the option of full hd.

Did you edit the footage on your Mac ? What prog did you use , final cut pro ?
gostaria de saber o ano que foi fabricada esta filmadora sony hdr sr11
But on displays that are nativly progressive scan, you're losing definition by recording interlaced video instead of progressive video.
nice review.keep up the good work:)
great video I am looking for the same camcorder soldierknowsbest got

But how many people do you know that watch their videos on the camera? Almost everyone I know watches movies on televisions.
@conscriptgmm maybe because it's avchd same problem that i had
Wow! That's awesome. I hesitated on making the purchase because "the idiot" at Best Buy told me that it wasn't really Mac friendly. Anyway, thanks for the review and your quick response. Will definitely have to purchase one now. ;-)

@ubaideraza Sony Vegas is a good choice.

Oh noes. No HD yet! lol.
1920 x 18i... I've never heard of that resolution, there's also lots of other computer illiterate "tech talk" in this video.
The difference? 1080p is better.
Ohh friend no is visin Night
how can a camera-review channel start with the worst sound, the worst lighting & the worst footage possible for a video?
Mines 120 GB
