    Thanks for sharing this! Tannhäuser remains, to this day, one of my favourite operas (despite even Wagner himself claiming "I still owe the world a Tannhäuser" days before his death) and I love hearing and reading what others have to say about it. There is something sweetly seductive about it that keeps me returning. It is audibly a product of Wagner's youthful days and yet I still would put it up there (but not strictly equal to or above) his later masterpieces (Tristan, Parsifal etc.) which lay the basis for the modern (as in current, not from the "Modern" era) operatic discography.
