- More video of Antonio showing how to use the press. This was in the morning when they first started checking it out. I'll upload a video of them using the machine in the afternoon to illustrate the training times involved.
The machine is made of top quality materials and has many years of experience built into the design. The blocks that it makes are beautiful and very precise in size. As long as the mixing is consistent you will get blocks of consistent size and quality. One person can operate the machine but two is better. One to use the lever and the other to remove the finished blocks and keep the machine clean as you're working. The hard part is keeping the machine supplied with mixed soil.
Is there a way to add a handle extension after you lower the handle down to get more leverage so that even a girl could compress a block?
We mainly use cement as a stabilizer, about 8-10% by weight. It is also possible to use lime as a stabilizer if you have the right soil. Also about 8% water by weight. So, screened soil, add the cement, dry mix, slowly add water until it's good then it goes to the machine. Use it all within 15 minutes.
Ok I apreciate your advices thank you.
I like most everything they're doing. My manual press can make a block about every 5-6 seconds though so it's actually faster. The bottleneck is the soil mixing. The press is always waiting for soil.
Excelente
Sure, that would be easy. The handle is just a piece of steel tubing that slides down onto a larger tube welded to the machine arm. It's not even bolted on. All that you would need is to use a longer piece of tube. Btw,, there are several girls that have helped make blocks so I can say for sure it's not a problem. One thing to be aware of is that in the videos of the guys learning the machine compression is way too high. We've realized that you don't need massive pressure to make a good block.
Hi, I m gonna buy one of these press but I first wanted to know how good it is, if you are satisfied of the results, if its made with good materials, and if the bricks you make have all the same dimensions or if there is differences. How many people are necesary to operate it. I ll apreciate if you can give me some advices. Thank you,
Best regards,
Nicolas
Hi We live in Indonesia and this would be a great asset to our village. Where can we buy the plans? I was a welder in a passed life and could knock one up pretty quick!
Hi, here's the link to the company in Colombia where I bought the machine;
gracomaq (dot) net/index_archivos/planos.htm
That will take you straight to the page where they are selling the plans. Notice their contact info at the bottom. Good Luck! I have never regretted my decision to buy one.
Are you familiar with Open Source Ecology's Compressed Earth Block press? It's pretty awesome, and they provide all details for making it yourself from scratch. Search for "Open Source Ecology CEB Press"
Besides soil what else is in the mixture?
any drawing or are they for sale
A este paso, harán 4 por hora....y 5 personas
This is the company I bought the machine from. They are in Colombia. They sell complete machines and I'm pretty sure they sell the plans too.
gracomaq.net
