I personally can’t see live selling taking over the majority of market share because people do not have time to sit around hoping to find what they are looking for in their size. I do use the platform but honestly it’s for arbitrage not personal shopping. If prices reach eBay levels I wouldn’t use it at all. I have also heard TikTok is the better platform for lives due to extremely high show participation and the platform isn’t as glitchy. Whatnot has technical issue quite a bit
Thank you for saying that. I just don’t know who has time to shop like that-or interest. Obviously, some people do, but it seems like it would be incredibly frustrating to me.
I really hope live selling isn’t where reselling is going. I cannot do live shows, you tube, speaking in public because of severe stage fright. I don’t even like talking on the phone.
I’m soo 😢sad and mad I used my other email when I sugned up for what not soo then google was all like who are you , because I tried opening through them and it worked fine when I didn’t have my info , Address card # etc, hopefully it was because I was too slow to get back, the shows are what , only 30minutes? I hope that is why 😮😊😂❤ But in the meantime I missed out and missed most of your show. I’m usually L XL sometimes I get 1 X but mainly cause I like my clothes on the looser side. I was really eyeing that cuddl duds , and the colors were fantastic!! You make it look pretty easy but if I do anything live I think I would start there because posh keeps wanting me to , but the format is sooo 🤷♀️, some people are on all night others an hour and then people start their clothes at 30 dollars and I get it but it’s not true auction format. I actually did eBay when it was mostly auction. Now it’s not worth it unless u have specialty or collectors or tennys. You know what I mean. So what it is great but getting people hmmm 🤔 I might have to start doing stand up or talk about the day I had with my mom, like Ellen when she started. That will bring droves of people I’m sure😂😂😂 It’s actually funny stuff when you’re not in the middle of stuff . My mom well she’s fun 😮, fun in that way that’s really not fun 😂😂, with her memory getting worse she’s a real hoot!! It’s just hard but I agree definitely can make money on whatnot and on posh it’s almost as if we’re supposed to just give stuff away to sell it, and they definitely want it to be less than what’s in your listing and the bidding is soo different and the starting prices. .99 is smart, some stuff you will give away but hopefully you make up for it on other items, it’s really the only way 😊. I think I heard you say you were doing well on there, that’s great , I know it doesn’t happen overnight, but looks like more fun than pm , plus less time spent for what u make. Awesome 😎 Beth 😊
I personally like the background with your inventory there. Thanks for sharing Info on whatnot. Once thing I’ve been meaning to mention… please dismiss if not important to you but you have a habit of vocal frying your voice. That happens when you don’t use enough breath when you speak…. I thought I’d point this out, while is not harmful for your voice it is sort of a bad habit. Am a vocal coach and I can’t help noticing these things 😊.
It would be EXTREMELY interesting if you could have one of the girls that we do not know that works for you on a brand new WhatNot account mirror your sales to compare the amount of viewers and asp with your shows because I would almost bet my business there would be an astronomical difference!
Could be! A lot of sellers put some of the better brands in their titles. You could probably tell which ones have the better items. Some also start at $1 auctions so those ones might be good too.
I think the plus size show would go over well. I have just started watching whatnot and most shows do only the smaller sizes and only a handful of larger sizes. There are a lot of 1x-3x people that would rather buy online that going out shopping.
Great video but I have to say as a seller that doesn't have a big following it's hard to get going... I did about 5 or 6 weekly shows and my viewer count was consistently around 5. It's hard to start out without a following. I stopped because it was turning into a waste of my time and very frustrating. When you did your first show and sold everything and had 40+ people in there that was a huge success. I'd like to find the magic formula for gaining followers and buyers but for now I will work on my youtube channel to get a following, that in the future I can bring over to WN. Great video though. I love that you are having success with it.
Several successful whatnot sellers & a whatnot employee said in an interview that expecting to only break even for the first few weeks is realistic. Giveaways will accelerate the process too. Cayley, are you using the giveaway feature?
Hi! Buyer pays shipping so cost as a seller is covered. I think there's an option where sellers can offer discounted shipping at the sellers expense. Essentially buyers pay based on weight. help.whatnot.com/hc/en-us/articles/15788633626637-US-Domestic-Shipping-Prices
Curated live show. Check. I think buyers don't want a hodgepodge live sale unless all real low bids. Athleisure still big. Trendy boho still big. And sell by season. People want swim and summer stuff in May 2024.
I think it's great you are expanding to WhatNot. I would never do it but I still enjoy hearing your videos about it because it's still business related. I like the working background of clothing. That is what the videos are all about. I also love your hair! Thanks for the video.
More clothing in 😮background, this is not a neat and clean background kind of business, didn’t know you were doing what not 🎉 cool 😎, I will come check u out!!
I’m not sure about WhatNot, but the Poshlives I’ve attended for people that don’t have a social media presence attendance seems to be around 40-60 people. (These are the ones I say do lives regularly and successfully). I’ve only seen 100+ viewers on shows with social media people, liquidation sellers, or like crazy designer bag shows. Share shows have a lot in attendance but it’s mostly people trying to share their items to sell and not actual buyers (in my experience). Silent shows are…pointless imo lol. Viewer count is super low and I’ve never really seen anyone buying a lot.
Hey! I’ve got some catching up to do on your videos! My 8 months old daughter was in the hospital off and on for the past 2 months. I’ve missed these videos! Also, any advice after having to take a long break? My sales are soooo dead but bills are still coming in
Love your shows and video!!! I have really been trying to dive into doing a live show so this helps tremendously !! as a mom and a crazy schedule having your live shows all over the board and at different times is tremendously helpful
There's a link I'm the description specifically for becoming a seller if you aren't already signed up. 😊 if you do decide to try it out, that link might speed up the approval process.
Well, you love clothing so much you started a business selling clothing. You enjoy making TH-cam video about selling clothing so you should keep the clothing in your background. Besides it's pretty cool to see clothing that others ditch get a second life. Those clothes in you background look very boutique and represent your brand.
I love your videos Cayley. Except for this one. I kept skipping ahead but it seems the entire video was about WhatNot and I am really not interested as it’s something that will never work for me and the one time I checked it out it just seemed desperate and superficial. I doubt that your show was that way and I think it’s probably great for you but I hope you’ll still keep your regular content because that I love!
Watching again as I’m starting to reassess my original opinion which was rather harsh. It’s just that there are sooo many young cute girls selling and as an older grandmother I feel like there’s no way I can compete and that’s a problem because the shows are taking business away from simple listings. Maybe.
I have received a invitation to sell on Whatnot but I work by myself and I’m not a TH-camr and it seem like it would be hard to get people to come to my show and I would not sale anything.
If you want to gain more followers on whatnot follow other sellers that sell what you sell & on a desktop you can follow their followers. If you are watching someone else's show you can follow the current bidders to get yourself active buyers. 😘 hope that helps
Great job. Very informative
Followed! Can’t wait to see you over there!
Appreciate you so much!
Thank you for such an informative video!!!!! You did great on your 1st show. I tuned in to support and cheer you on your first round of many to come
Thank you so much!!
There is something comforting about the clothes in the background.
Me personally. I would say one in the hand is better than two in the bush. It stinks waiting 6 months for something to sell.
Good video. :-)

Totally agree and still have zero interest
I came to say the exact same thing!
Thank you for saying that. I just don’t know who has time to shop like that-or interest. Obviously, some people do, but it seems like it would be incredibly frustrating to me.
Same
My husband and I were just saying the same thing. I think it’s a nice added place for income.
I personally feel you should be able to have any background you want without people complaining about it. I like what ever background you choose 😊
I don’t think that anyone complained lol. Maybe they just commented that they liked it 😬
Agreed!
If she just moves over to her left she cover both, the walls blank and then there's clothes, she can sit in the middle 😂😂😂😂
I really hope live selling isn’t where reselling is going. I cannot do live shows, you tube, speaking in public because of severe stage fright. I don’t even like talking on the phone.
Millions are like you. It's deff not gnna take over reselling, it's basically a pyramid system, or popularity contest.
Good point but for some it is working.

Thanks Beth! We will have more shows coming up (including another plus size one) and I hope you can catch one!
I have that Journey T-shirt! ❤
Found mine thrifting and it's so soft!
@@cayleyelaine Mine is so soft, too! One of my favorites & I got mine @Goodwill!

I like the clothes behind you but feel free to try any background that strikes your fancy.✅🙏☺
I tried it a few times totally bombed …. It helps to have a following already
Can they catch the replay? Or is that not a thing over there?
You can, if a seller doesn't have them hidden. Currently mine are available to watch the replays.
Did you say what time you did the first and second show?
2pm and 230pm
It would be EXTREMELY interesting if you could have one of the girls that we do not know that works for you on a brand new WhatNot account mirror your sales to compare the amount of viewers and asp with your shows because I would almost bet my business there would be an astronomical difference!
That would be an interesting video.
I literally hope they do this. I’m intrigued by this notion for sure. They’d need to not advertise their association to each other either.
Does what not take a cut or percentage out of your sales like Poshmark?
Yes, they have fees.
Do you think whatnot could be a good place to source? But how do you determine which shows to check out?
Could be! A lot of sellers put some of the better brands in their titles. You could probably tell which ones have the better items. Some also start at $1 auctions so those ones might be good too.
Fist off...that Shirt!!! Love it! Also thank you for doing this because I'm going to to my first one on Nov 5th!
Thank you! So good to hear! Let me know how it goes :)
How long does your shows last?
About an hour.
I did whatnot for about a year, it can be a lot of work & it is very competitive. Being on others show & developing community helps & also takes time.
How do you get the word out about your shows? Specifically for those of us who don’t have a TH-cam channel.
I'd recommend instagram and also including some of the better brands in the titles of your shows.
lol I am not opinionated about the backgrounds :-p I'm just hear for your content

I think this is probably true for most smaller sellers.

@@reseller_rescue I haven't tried it yet but would like to soon!
I have an idea for a Whatnot show you could do. Curate several NWT items and auction them as great Holiday/Christmas gifts to give.
Good idea!
Thank you for the great notes!! What about the shipping cost with what not how does that wirk? Thanks ❤ your show. And whatever background is great.

I like the clothes I love all your information.
Nice! What platform do you use for your bookkeeping?
I use Google docs and a spreadsheet I made myself.
You mentioned you sold all of them. That’s amazing!!!! How many items did you sell?
20 the first show, 34 the second.

Posh lives seem super awkward especially when hardly anyone shows up. Feels like a MLM party where everyone feels pressured to participate 😂
Background makes no difference but if I had to choose it’d be anything but a blank walk.
Btw, I detest WhatNot.
I am so glad to support you and bekah

The Clothing in the Background 😊
You should have an outdoor background in Mother Nature!
🤣 I agree because then maybe that means I'd be on vacation.
