All had good easily sharpened German steel with Kissing Crane being made by a German company. Sorry history lesson is over now kids.
Please forgive my ignorance. Would the Knipex pliers do most everything the wrench can do? The teeth help grip things including fasteners. Or is it “right tool for the right job”? The idea that you can tighten fasteners with pliers but it is more likely to round off the heads? Whereas the wrench is a better tool for fasteners and the pliers are good for gripping things? The cable you may be referring to at 6 minutes in the video is a vga cable if it's for a monitor. If it's not for video/monitor it's probably a serial 9-pin cable (there are other names for them).
With those 2 pliers you simply dismantle a Space shuttle between soup and main course. I still have to find better, I have several sizes of them lying around in the house and cars....

I use a leatherman for my pliers needs. As it fills more than one thing. Starting to EDC'ing to much stuff. Have to cut down on some stuff. So move some things to my EDC bag. As I am trying to keep my belt freeish lol
Nothing wrong with Leatherman! I find that when I need pliers these tend to do a better job than my Leatherman as they’re purpose build pliers, but I still carry a Leatherman some days, and one if not both are always in my EDC bag.
TOJO I switched from carrying a Leatherman Wave to carrying the Knipex Mini Cobra and a Swiss Army Knife (Pioneer). The two tools together are lighter than my Wave.
The pliers wrench is designed different too. He didn’t mention in the vid but the pliers wrench have a vice like grip 10x stronger than the cobra. It takes a lot of movement of the wrench handles for the jaws to move. I just ordered a 5” set today for my dirtbike edc.
Those plier wrenches are basically the ultimate god-tool for any bike mechanic. They can do almost anything and most things you haven´t even thought about doing yet. @@dsdf_fdp1858 For the bike I'd actually recommend the 250mm. It's the most versatile and can also manage to unscrew fork topcaps and things like that. Personally I have a 125mm as well, which I use for smaller nuts and stuff. I'd recommend the 125 especially if you want to sometimes carry it in your backpack, but the 150mm is the better choice for the workshop. Both are not big enough to get everything done on my bike though (downhill bike), hence why I recommend a 125 or 150mm plus a 250mm. The 250mm is also the one which can really be used as a makeshift bearing/bushing press as you will appreciate the wider opening and more leverage.
@@dsdf_fdp1858 in that case the 150 sounds good. I have the 250mm because it allows me to basically leave all my sockets at home and keep my travel toolbox nice and light and still be able to do all required jobs as well as improvise a lot with how flexible the big one is.
Oh, another thing I've heard, but cannot yet personally report on. The 125 apparently has a finer tip than the 150, so if you want that, consider the 125 or double check if they're really any different other than the length. I mainly recommend the 150 over the 125 because in larger hands the 125 definitely is a very small tool. It's manageable, but the feeling is more like working with a small Swiss army knife compared to a Leatherman multi tool (the 150mm), which should feel a lot more substantial in hand. With the 125 you can't really use a palm grip as it's just too small for that.
Haha! Right? You can never have enough! Good call on the motorcycle kit, definitely a space saver. I remember seeing them in your kit you did a video on a while back.
I work at a hardware store and I Edc a 5" pair. Super handy! I use them mostly for changing fittings for filling lp tanks. Where did you find the leather slips? I've just been carrying them in my back pocket

Every man needs to have a good socket set. The knipex pliers wrench is best in business but there's some tasks that it can't handle. Every tool has its place just depends on the job at hand.
Nice video, I subscribed. Like your style, informative and no nonsense. I just got the 125 and XS Cobras. XS for on body EDC paired with a SAK Tinker and 125 in the EDC Vanquest pouch. Question on the 125: The button has a tendency to get stuck when depressed. I have to jiggle the handles to get it to disengage and "snap" out. Not every time. Is this normal, yours in the video seems to make the same snapping sound.
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah that’s perfectly normal. All of my Knipex have some tendency to stick on occasion. A drop of your favorite knife lube should help.
Yup, just bought my first two pairs…..5 inch and 12 inch. I’m a marine engineer, 25 years at sea and everything is getting smaller and tighter to get at……these should do the job nicely. 😁
The grip strength is superior because you’re able to squeeze the handles together unlike a standard adjustable wrench like a Crescent. Also, you can set the jaw opening size to fit your needs, and it allows just enough wiggle room to act almost like a ratchet: squeeze and turn, then loosen your grip and move the wrench back into position before starting your next turn.
@@GearedTowardGear1 Thanks so much for the quick and informative reply! I just ordered my first pair of Knipex, the 5" cobra's. Next will be the pliers wrench. Thanks again.
@@GearedTowardGear1 and they're not going to be too big to edc. Especially if I put them in my work bag. I've been using my robo grip pliers, but they're on the larger side and the spring keeps them open.
Why isn't anyone selling a kydex dual carry holster to house the Knipex mini pliers wrench and mini Cobra pliers in tandem? They sell an oem pouch but it's ridiculously oversized.
I carry a little tool kit in my EDC bag nowadays, got sick of knowing how to fix stuff but improvising so I started carry a pouch about the size of a small tissue box. I typically rely on my multi tool pliers though, but man did that kydex make it look a dozen times as cool. If I did more plumbing type stuff I’d look into that type of adjustable pliers. Neat stuff Sean! Got my official Eagle Scout paperwork from national yesterday btw!
I've actually put an extender on my 5" pliers wrench. It's almost like you can't break 'em. But you have a point. I wish I hat gotten the 6" instead of the 5" for my little ones. Being able to use all 4 fingers on the handle would be better.
You realize that the self-locking works with all 'pump-handle' pliers, i.e. channel-lock, etc. All channel-lock-type pliers self-lock Not just Knipex. Crazy, huh?
if you really want to pronouce it right (not that it matters): the i in knipex is pronouced like the ee in eel or the ea in deal. the rest was spot on.
No, the K is not silent. Go check out the official Knipex Tools YT channel or the KC Tools YT channel and you’ll note that the K is always pronounced. Links below. th-cam.com/video/yIeZJa5zpBg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/5kwSePBih2Q/w-d-xo.html
🤣🤣🤣 I don’t keep spare rusted nuts & bolts lying around. They’re 5” long pliers dude. Like I said, I use them for small edc tasks, fixing my kids toys, and on small electronics. If I needed to free a rusted bolt I’d use penetrating fluid, heat, and a socket wrench or breaker bar like a normal person. Don’t be such an idiot.
@@GearedTowardGear1 Cool, no one has ever found themselves in a situation where they need to free a stubborn bolt and don't have a torch, breaker bar, and the appropriate socket. That never happens. Thank you for your response, very cool and smart. Cool channel. @@MrEKG123 I've done that so what's your guess on how much torque on a boat these pliers with the small handle are able to free? I'll let you know after you guess
@@BuffaloNickel9 Interesting. I'm gonna say 40 ft lbs and that seems high to me. Because I found the pliers wrench much more useful TBH, the small cobra ended up being fine for things like rounded off brake bleeder screws but pretty inadequate for anything really stuck. Whereas the pliers wrench I got was able to easily break 17 and 21mm bolts loose that had physically broken an American made crescent wrench.

Can you inform me why the knipex 4 "cobra xs does not have the red plastic on its grips? Thank you
This brand is cursed. Once you buy, you can't stop buying more and more. No body only have one Knipex.
Amen to that.
I have 1 and want to buy pliers wrench and stop right there😂
Very much! Once I got one I bought 3 after. Another that I'm looking at now lol.
Yup, just bought my first two pairs…..5 inch and 12 inch. I’m a marine engineer, 25 years at sea and everything is getting smaller and tighter to get at……these should do the job nicely. 😁
Love the review. Could you provide the dimensions used for the leather sheath?
I sent the dimensions over to my local leather guy. I think he said he’s already been in touch with you.
How does adjustable wrench version compare to a standard "crescent" wrench? As far as grip strength and power?
The grip strength is superior because you’re able to squeeze the handles together unlike a standard adjustable wrench like a Crescent. Also, you can set the jaw opening size to fit your needs, and it allows just enough wiggle room to act almost like a ratchet: squeeze and turn, then loosen your grip and move the wrench back into position before starting your next turn.
@@GearedTowardGear1 Thanks so much for the quick and informative reply! I just ordered my first pair of Knipex, the 5" cobra's. Next will be the pliers wrench. Thanks again.
Got the mini coming 😜
If I could send u a pic of the slip I made. Holds both the water pump and wrench pliers. Both 125mm
Looking to get my first pair soon. I'm thinking the 7in ones of each.
That’s probably you’re best bet for all around use. I use the 7” in the garage more than any other size.
@@GearedTowardGear1 and they're not going to be too big to edc. Especially if I put them in my work bag. I've been using my robo grip pliers, but they're on the larger side and the spring keeps them open.
I need help, if you could only buy one of those two, which one would you pick?
I would choose the Knipex Cobrs Pliers if I could only have one. I think they’re a bit more versatile than the Pliers Wrench.
@@GearedTowardGear1 just got my 5 inch cobra yesterday, thanks for the advice!
After watching many reviews I appreciate you pronouncing Knipex right.
Thanks man! Knipex actually just released a new t-shirt with the Knipex logo on the front, and on the back it says: “It’s Pronounced [Kuh-Nip-X]”
Best pliers on the market.
Love my knipex!!!
Amen!! 👊🏻👊🏻🍻🍻
Noice! Def need to get some of knipex👌🏼
Yeah buddy! Thanks for watching Jesse!!
The cobras are the best pliers available imo. I have both of these in the larger version 7” i think bot sure. Love them worth every penny.
What scales are on the mini freek? They’re nice.
Thanks! The scales are from Rogue Bladeworks.
Thanks! The scales are from Rogue Bladeworks.
Cobra n'1
After this war, I hope Knipex tools would be still availiable!
Why isn't anyone selling a kydex dual carry holster to house the Knipex mini pliers wrench and mini Cobra pliers in tandem? They sell an oem pouch but it's ridiculously oversized.
I just ordered a couple crescent wrenches fml
They're really good at getting a grip on stripped nuts and bolts of various sizes. I've had better results with these than visegrips.
Right on Jon! Good to hear from you brother. Yeah, they grip like hell, I hardly use my channel locks or vice grips anymore.
Hey Roman thanks for watching man! Congrats on the Eagle Scout brother!!!! That’s so awesome.
Lol I love kydex i make up new systems for all my tools. Nice
Knipex gives me a hard on. Their tools are first rate! I use them all the time while at work. One of the best investments I have ever made.
Knipex are super good but Irwin vise make a cobra type plier for way cheaper
I believe Mr. Skin has a patent on nipslip...lol.
89 bucks Canadian.. I really want a set, but man that’s pricey
Interesting but no way this actually functions on 2" with such small handles, unless we are talking something that isn't on tight enough to matter.
I've actually put an extender on my 5" pliers wrench. It's almost like you can't break 'em.
But you have a point. I wish I hat gotten the 6" instead of the 5" for my little ones. Being able to use all 4 fingers on the handle would be better.
125 size - for game, 150 - for real work )
No need for plier wrench
cobra 125 is perfect
you can put a tape on the jaws and by that way
Scratches can be avoided
on bolts
Kneepex 😀
You realize that the self-locking works with all 'pump-handle' pliers, i.e. channel-lock, etc. All channel-lock-type pliers self-lock Not just Knipex. Crazy, huh?
Cobra is 27$ and the wrench-plier is 52$. 20 and 30 would be more reasonable prices.
I use shoe goo to fix my kids toys lol
Club 125
7 inch Cobra. 6 inch wrench.
Up
German tools rule, ie Wiha, Wera, Knipex.
$20-30 a pair? They’re like $50 now
Bought from amazon 3 days ago for $26
if you really want to pronouce it right (not that it matters): the i in knipex is pronouced like the ee in eel or the ea in deal. the rest was spot on.
Right on!
I use a edc pocket caddy from Recycled Firefighter. Holds both of them together nicely .
Check out copper_edc on IG
Right on, thanks for the recommendation Justin. 👊🏻🍻
No the k is silent
The k Is silent
No, the K is not silent. Go check out the official Knipex Tools YT channel or the KC Tools YT channel and you’ll note that the K is always pronounced. Links below.

There for plumbers.
Or anyone who has a use for pliers.
@z z What’s the matter sweetheart. You feeling triggered?
Yeah don't test it on a rusty bolt or anything.
Maybe get more views if you did something smart like use a torque wrench to fasten 1/2" bolts using nordlocks and see how crazy you could get with these but whatever.
@@MrEKG123 Good guess... you're right it's a touch High
I wish I had recorded mine but here is a great link to a gentleman with Godzilla hands who used the smaller 4 in (100 mm 4 inch) and tapped out around 25ish..
I got about 28 foot pounds with the 125 mm on a half inch Bolt..
Let me try to find the video
"nipex" you can but it's wrong
Your wrenches look like they have never been used.
You know how to pronounce it correct, but you don't care? How arrogant is that? When your name is Tom should we call you Om? ;-)
It’s legit pronounced KneePix
kuh-nip slip
