As a Hallux rigidus patient who obviously absolutely loves the Shift, I could not make the Kinvara Pro work for me due to the narrow toebox, which is a no-go for most HR patients 😢.
Arent all the pros matt listed also pros for the Speed? It seems like theres a ton of overlap, especially since theyre both semi rigid, both capable of daily miles and some racing, etc
I never considered getting the pro because it really didn’t have a spot in my rotation, but as I am going to be retiring some shoes this spring, I really think the trainer would be a good fit for me.
The problem with exposed foam in the midsole is that, by time (which depends on user) it will become more biased against the exposed part and as such it will affect your running mechanics (your ankles, muscles will feel every new millimeter imbalance) . This effect gets more pronounced due to the foam compression (the EVA foam is especially bad at this), so you'll get a shoe with not that great mileage. Also, it's bad for the environment. Saucony, please don't go full 2023 Hoka, let's keep it sane.

Compared to Speed, Trainer is heavier, higher stacked, more structured, and has a completely different midsole feel. The Incredirun foam is super soft and bouncy, much different than the Powerrun PB in the Speed.
It Would have been better if the bottom layer of foam was incrediy run or even power run pb or hg instead of that crappy power run Eva especially at the price point of this shoe . I also would have preferred the more flexible plastic plate that’s in the speed for a training shoe That all said it might still be a great shoe
the point of the EVA is to cradle the top incredirun foam so it is stable so swapping it out for pwrrun pb or hg wouldn't do the job. as for the intent of the shoe it is probably not a interval-level speed shoe as that's already covered by the speed 4 and pro 4, instead it's trying to replace the endorphin shift line but also a slight step up.
@@magnetpulling4885standard EVA can be great as the bottom in a dual foam setup, providing a lot of durability and stability in support of the squishy bouncy foam above.

Please do a trainer vs speed since now you're saying the trainer is also good for speed work as well as easy run. Which one to choose???

I love the Endorphin Speed 4. The new trainer confuses me a bit because the Pro is the carbon plate step up from the Speed.

Yeah but the speed 4 are very firm. Sounds like these are softer. That’s enough to make me purchase.
I prefer to train in Triumph. Plates for speed work and races.
My daily is the Ride 17 with the Speed for faster stuff.

Sounds like a more stable ES4, maybe a nice plated tempus replacement

Agreed, PWRRUN is prob my least favorite EVA foam that is still around. Just incredibly firm and not exciting
