Back then I had a book of patterns that I followed. my question to you is, what is the rule of thumb for how long to cut your cords? I realize it depends on what you are making, but if you want to create something without a pattern, how do you know what length you should use. Is there some sort of guideline to follow?

I don't have formulas. Based on experience, I cut off intuitively 👌🏻😘
