can't stand it... gone are his youthfulness & politeness. dub akaashi sounds like 30 depressed dude. I wondered how dub watchers fall in love with him (or other characters with differing dub-sub gap like this)
I'm loving the contrast from sub to dub. In sub, Akaashi sounds more respectful and has undertones of sassy but in the dub, he goes all out and doesn't give an f but that's sounds a lot like the other characters. The eng dub fits right into American culture like it's an anime made from America or something. Like if Haikyuu in dub suddenly appeared on my tv screen on a channel such as Cartoon Network or something, I would think this wasn't from Japan. Like their lines aren't like straight translations, their like rewritten to feel natural. All their conversations feel so natural.
because Japan is a very respectful country where underclassmen's have to respect their seniors a lot. but is like North America, age doesn't really equal the amount of respect you get
Excellent points! Personally, the fact that everybody talks the same way in the English dub means that most of the character arcs and dynamics are lost, and that’s what drew me to Haikyuu in the first place. It really does sound natural, though, and it’s undoubtedly funny. The voice actors sound like they’re having a good time!
Sub Akaashi: Gentle, Bokuto's HypeMan and Handler, very respectful, it's obvious how much he adores his idiot Dub Akaashi: The passive-aggressive best friend who isn't here for the drama. Grudgingly involved with Bokuto's antics
@@maraswanson7135 i actually do prefer bokuto in the dub too, but that's just preferences hahah. either way, every actor has done a great job at delivering the lines of their characters, and i enjoy both the dub and the sub for different reasons:)

I prefer Akaashi’s Japanese voice actor because I feel like it suits his personality and his face more 😚 the English dub is soooo funny though so I feel like we win either way 😆
I love how you have both the subbed and the dubbed versions because I watch both! I have a request can you please do Kageyama or Tsukishima? I'd love to see all the moments of either or.
Sub: Akaashi: “Bokuto-san, stay calm.” Bokuto: “I am calm!” Dub: Akaashi: “Come on Bokuto, we need to stay calm here-“ Bokuto: “I AM CALM 👹” The dub is a gift from god
The essence is pretty similar but Sub Akaashi's phrasing is more respectful and polite haha. Dub Akaashi just reallllyy ups the sass and sounds sarcastic even when he's actually admiring Bokuto.
I love how much overlap their is with Bokuto in the comparison. Akaashi can barely have a solo moment, but they're such a great duo. Both sub and dub are fantastic all around for this show. :D
will Yachi be done? I would love to see the comparisons of when she is first introduced to the volleyball team and all of her nervous expressions XD thanks for the vids. love them.
How the akaashi’s would react to drama Sub:all you gotta do is walk aWaaayaya Dub:Do I give a fuck? (no not one) how many fucks do I give? (0) so therefore the drama is ✨irrelevant✨
Also the Bokuto sub: I think someone is talking about me (or something like that idk I’m an idiot) Akaashi sub: you’re imagining things Vs Bokuto dub: I feel like someone was praising me just now Akaashi dub: yeah well wasn’t me 😂 love akaashi and bokuto
Since the dialogue for the English dub has all the characters talk in a similar manner (lots of sass and playful aggression), it kind of erases personalities? English Akaashi, for instance, really isn’t distinguishable from most other characters dialogue-wise. I can’t see his manga arc playing out for this version of the character. But it’s entertaining!
Lol yesss. Imagine a maths problem being like: There is a volleyball match between Fukurodani and Karasuno. Bokuto calls you to set the ball to him,but he doesn't seem in mood. What will happen if you set the ball to Bokuto when he is grumpy? Possible answers: A)You set to Bokuto,he wins the point and everything is good B)You set to Bokuto, but he loses and gets worse than before C)You don't set to him and gets grumpy again
Granted Japanese is not my natural language, but Im shocked this is the same voice actor as Sawamura from Ace of Diamond. Its sounds nothing like him. I just started watching Akame ga Kill and Tatsumi too me sounded like Sawamura. So I looked up the voice actor and saw he did this character in Haikyu.
I like sub more, Akaashis voice is softer? idk he respects bokuto more and when bokuto says Akaashis name in Japanese its much more different then dub this prob sounds rlly dumb idk how to explain it but uh yeah i like sub
Maybe they wanted to show the comparison between Akaashi yelling "Bokuto-San!" In both sub and dub. If you listen carefully, you will hear Akaashi yelling Bokuto's name before serving the ball to him.
He is so sassy in the dub lmao
Pretty sassy boy
RIGHT AHJDJE
“wowwww you beat a single blocker”
He’s salty in a respectful way in the sub too it’s gorgeous-
yep..
his voice way more softer in jpn version
Japanese Akaashi : Respects bokuto more & less sassy...
Dub Akaashi : you're a senior ? Oh I didn’t know... 😂❤️
✨OH MY Gosh! I love hiimmm ✨😭

lol, dub akaashi is so sarcastic and sassy while sub is just straight forward and less sassy and a lot more respectful

Bokuto and Akaashi's interactions have a slightly different aura around them in the dub than sub, but I still love it nonetheless.
Sub:
Akaashi: “Bokuto-san, stay calm.”
Bokuto: “I am calm!”
Dub:
Akaashi: “Come on Bokuto, we need to stay calm here-“
Bokuto: “I AM CALM 👹”
