    Hi Pauline and Rick. I'm a recent subscriber to your channel and just wanted to add to the praise you've been getting on here. I am a driver with Colas Rail based in the Midlands and some of your model show visits brought back memories of my late father's attic layout. Keep up the highly entertaining work and thank you.

      Hi thanks for your kind words and we appreciate the subscription. We attend quite a few shows and the level of modeling still amazes us especially when you consider everything gets packed up and put in the back of a car! We see lots of Colas locos for sale and the livery is definitely a standout. Thanks for watching Rick.

    Two stunning models today: Shirebrook and the Yorkshire Coast Tramway. The painted backscene on the Shirebrook layout is extremely well done while the models of Scarborough station and surrounding buildings are scratch-building at its very best. Thank you for filming all these shows as such masterpieces deserve wider appreciation.

      Hi Brad, the intro with the train in the tunnel is only for this video, however our next bargain hunt video is in what will hopefully be a standard format (when I get round to editing it) just watched the butcher video, maybe I should do something similar in our next vlog but Bobby might take a shine to the sausages! All the best Rick

    Brilliant stuff, right off the bat with the American layout... then too much cool stuff. I am very curious about that black coach with the yellow and blue striping. I have never seen that before. Of course, the new Beatle Album coaches which have not arrived over here yet. Mount Tabor Models was quite fun... all the German stock, but you found the TRIX version of my Rheingold.... I loved the Black & White switch... that layout looked cooler in B/W for some reason- just seemed appropriate, didn't it. And all kinds of maroon LMS and BR coaches to see. I could have spent a fortune there. Thanks for the epic tour!

      @wellchuffedrailways  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Anthony, glad you liked the vid, I was unaware those Beatles wagons are not available over there. Regarding the B&W we do use it occasionally on layouts where it fits, it's always popular as well. I could have spent a fortune as well but Christmas is on the way! All the best Rick

    Hi rick & Pauline,
    Lovely video again, it seems to be a very nice train show you went to, again a few new layouts, or at least not seen by me, on the show, and great bargains.
    The US theme is often represented at uk shows, and to be honest, I watched a few American shows online, even been to one a few years ago, but the nieces US layouts on train shows seems to be found in the UK and also here in continental Europe.
    Sure there will be some masterpieces in the US, and I also seen a few TH-cam bloggers, but still the best with detailed fines I saw in this part of the world strange enough.
    Personally not really my theme, although I got a nice H0 NY central set, but it ads to the variety of model train building, as the gentleman selling who's so passionate the continental stuff, and it's always nice to see someone else's point of intrest.
    I've got several strange ducks like the US set in the collect, that are not British, some Belgian because I've driven them and out of sentiment, some German ones, but that is more out of love for the model itself, but not for theme building.
    It always astonish me, even if you focus on the British sene alone, how vast the approach can be, on the theme, be it completely detailed, realistic or not, the depiction of the scene, the era, and the creativity that is seen, will it be for any budget or available space, that makes the hobby so great.
    I'm still recovering for my trip to the UK of all the models I brought back, kits I bought, it will keep me going for the dark winter times.😜
    Plus I'm relocating the collection to some new cabinets, with a better overview…
    Anyway lovely video, thanks again…
    Cheers, Danny

      @wellchuffedrailways  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Danny, yes a few new layouts for us as well. It would be really nice to see layouts set in Other parts of the world such as India and Africa but doubt any models are available but maybe that is somewhere your skills could come in. Happy modeling Rick

      @dannyvanstraelen3273 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@wellchuffedrailways I will stick to British era 1 to 3.
      But I think that Japan is an other global player that starts to get intrest in our region of the world now.
      The Japanese model train community is quite big and I've seen some great stuff there, most of it is Japanese N gauge.
      If I heard it correct, N gauge in Japan is different than European N gauge, someone made know the details on that?
      India, I don't know, most of it in reality is broad gauge there, and I don't think there is a model community there?
      Here is a good video on world Gauges th-cam.com/video/w6Ud8c5mjg8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZZY7nPwsYuGJgG46
      African modeling on it self, never seen anything of it here, but it could be realized with some skill, as a lot of European stuff was dumped all over the continent there.
      I think the most surviving Bayer Garrett loco's can be found there, that would be a good idea for those how seek an exotic model railway.
      And lets not forget Australia, I know for sure that there are Australian models available, but never have seen them here…

    Thanks again for an interesting look at models and layouts. CCTV vans were used for larger commodities requiring shelter. Examples were motor vehicles and carriages and carts for horses. Eventually they became useful for anything including parcels. Their use goes back to mid 1800s. They had wider loading doors than the normal vans.

    2:18 If you want to have a try at weathering buidings thats the place to start...
    4:11 Why do all those coal loads look like there is a strike going on at the coal sorting facility :D
    5:11 Looks like a quite random industrial shunter. It is not that weird when you know that some German designs simply blocked the fireman window with the coal bunker.
    29:26 With the number of the locomotive in the Sinsheim museum but without the Austrian conductors cab and Giesl stack. The paint was never applied that precisely, being more of a rush job with pots of chalk and brooms
    30:14 Most of the locomotives were protected that way, as the increased boiler cladding (frostschutz) was adequate in stopping most small calibre bullets, and tenders can be made watertight with a welding torch. The parts that were protected were the pumps, air tanks and the injectors below the cabin
    30:56 That one is still Wehrmacht grey...
    31:11 The tender is built using the same design as the Deutz type tank cars, where everything is welded to the body. They are also easier to build, with most of the body being a single rolled piece of steel.
    32:02 After the agreement was reached that basically split Europe into a CIWL and a Mitropa zone Germany ramped up production of new luxury trains to replace the worn out ex-CIWL vehicles that they used to run. Another example of trains from that era is the Karwendel Express which was ordered by the Bavarian directorate.
    33:25 Actually earlier, but that was using standard rolling stock. The famous panorama cars were a 1960s thing, but quickly phased out after the TEE consortium was founded because they were unusable outside the Amsterdam-Basel route. All of the panorama coaches have been preserverd (with modified roofs to fit the common continental profile)
