    We had such a fantastic time watching Ankita and her talented team at Weddingmana in action when we went along to see this video being filmed in Goa. They have limitless energy and such talent and enthusiasm, it really was a fantastic experience.
    We believe that the love and passion that Ankita has for wedding photography and for shooting black and white film really comes across in the video. We hope you enjoy watching it.
    Please let us know what you think in the comments below.

    Thank you @Ilfordphoto for making us a part of your amazing Ilford Inspires series. We love all your previous videos and hope you continue this wonderful initiative. It was great fun making this film in Goa. Thanks to each and everyone who was a part of this video, specially Matt, Shivani, Vijay, Sanaa, Sidhanth. It's humbling to read all these kind and generous comments from the photography community. Thanks you all so much for your support. We hope to continue capturing love stories with the same zest and passion!

      WeddingNama by Ankita and Akash Thank you for your most infectious enthusiasm! I suppose using film, especially b/w, is a tremendous selling point these days, compared to most - including the proportion of "cowboy" operators. The selection of cameras used certainly adds another dimension to it all. By the way, while I do not have an Intrepid, the photograph at 11:30 looks a bit odd: I cannot see how it does not have a reversing back requiring the camera to be mounted that way.

    • @WeddingNama
      @WeddingNama 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Seele2015au Thank you so much for your kind words. Glad you liked the video! Shooting on black and white film certainly adds a different dimension in your portfolio. About the photograph that you have mentioned, as you can see in the video, the intrepid wasn't used that way for the actual photos. We had just tilted it for a test shot and almost immediately put it back. Things happen fast in weddings and for some reason the back wasn't tilting how it normally does so as a quick solution we used the tripod head for the same thing!! And it was momentary just to check if a horizontal frame looked better. Guess that's the moment when the behind the scenes photo was made! The next second we had gone back to the vertical frame as you can see, all the photos made on that camera were actually vertical :)

    "…you can say my photography is my language…" That’s just the start of a perfect philosophy, as is Ankita's attitude. Personally, and I hate photographing people, I think this is the best yet of the series. Talent, work ethic, great knowledge and passion by the bucket full. And a little nod to Fan Ho towards the end. What more can you ask for?
    And now I know what developer she uses.

      I was waiting for you to comment Mark:) Thanks for watching and for the lovely feedback. I love that quote that you mentioned, and theres another where Ankita talks about using black and white film to shoot colourful Indian weddings where she says " ..when you remove the colour, what's left is pure emotion..." I think that's beautiful.

    great video, and a fantastic exemplar of using MF and LF cameras in a genre not usually associated with them, and showing others you CAN, and get the boon of all that quality, it takes effort to shoot, but, having just experienced this "magic" moment myself, totally understand it, the slow thinking of 'will it work?' and knowing your film, camera and the subject so it will work!! and having the extra art of developing a print... PRICELESS.

    Very good. Takes me back to the 30 years of my shooting weddings on film before digital came in. Then I shot film and digital while transitioning. I shot mainly in colour but used Ilford xp2 for black and white. I still recommend that film to people. It was and is so versatile and very forgiving.Keep up the good work Ankita. I am now no longer fit enough to shoot weddings but I am still doing it in my head.

    With all the colors at an Indian wedding, why would anyone wanna shoot in black and white? Not to knock B&W or ilford but colors would have been better here. We are missing something when we shoot in B&W for such a colorful, joyful occasion. Haiz.

      Hi Terence, we understand what you are saying. Indian weddings are so large that there are a team of photographers and videographers capturing each one. Ankita's team (WeddingNama) was shooting digital and also video for the couple so that they get colour digital files but then also something different and special - black & white negatives that will last forever! I know the couple loved the images on film!
