    The stamina, devotion, steady strength this young woman showed surpasses many, including me. The message the dance conveyed is as important as the dance itself:
    We are all One.

    Its impossible to imagine the time when people did this for fun and because it MEANT something to them (and their family, and the TRIBE) to have certains skills like dancing, and people wanted to learn from the best teachers and carry on traditions and learn the wisdom elders knew. Now no one wants to learn anything from anyone older than them, especially if its seen as old fashioned. Now the only thing people learn is to stare mindlessly into the technologic mirror that robs them of their time and their life, and post pictures of things they "like" but will never actually do because they are too busy pretending to be someone or something they're not.

      Plato Quemado one positive thing is technology can bring like minded people together and maybe the young will learn there is a wealth of knowledge all the elders out in the world have that they can learn from

      That is not true. People all over the world are teaching each other these arts using the internet to share their culture and skills. Traditional dances, martial arts, circus disciplines and many other movement arts are being shared across greater distances than ever before. These skills live on in Flow Arts communities across the globe and there has been an explosion of tutorial videos being shared through youtube and other sites over the last decade. These are usually very inclusive and welcoming groups, if you are interested in learning, find some videos or look for a flow arts jam in your area.

    I understand the symbolism of the hoop itself. Do the configurations have their own symbolism?

    • @tankster5826
      @tankster5826 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All of nature belongs to the circle of life, meaning being born, live and die. If you watch, the hoops by their configuration in the dance turn into butterflies, eagles, caterpillars, flowers, the world. It was very easy for me to see it as she danced. Al native dance tells a story. In this one I just see many plants and animals. To my spirit it seems as one life form dies another is born and life continues like in a circle repeating itself.

    • @tankster5826
      @tankster5826 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually toward the end she makes two spheres and then there is an eagle then god or man figure. I assume the two spheres are the sun and moon and creator and interaction of man. Eagles represent communication between God and man because he can soar to heaven to carry the messages. God and man is responsible for the care and harmony of everything in the earth in nature and it is a relationship.

    • @tankster5826
      @tankster5826 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn’t any secret knowledge of symbols needed to get the meaning from the dance. However, seeing animals, totems can have meaning in that their natures teach us things such as if you see lots of spiders it means you might be lazy or have a messy house that needs cleaning. A fox can mean cunning, a snake can mean stealth. The meanings are based on the animal personality, mannerisms, and habits such as the wisdom of squirrels saving food for winter. That kind of thing. So we learn by watching animals. It is in the Bible too. Proverbs 6:6. It is just people don’t follow the wisdom handed to them whether handed down from Native traditions or written in a Bible. They may read words but forget to practice.

    I wonder what the women are saying in the background music with the drum beating and all of that chanting?! Does anyone speak Seneca Indian?! Does anyone know what they were saying as she was dancing 💃 there? BECAUSE, I'm sure the music 🎶 is an integral part of the ceremonial dancing! No?!
