  • The United Democratic Party (UDP) submitted a notice for a peaceful demonstration to Namibian Police three working days before the day of the event, in accordance with the Public Gathering Proclamation of 1989.
However, Police did not give feedback with regard to whether they approve or not. They only came on the day of the event to stop the demonstration.
However, the Supreme Law of Namibia, the Namibian Constitution provides that all persons shall have the right to assemble peaceable.
This was not the first time Namibian Police have disapproved or disrupted a peaceful gathering by Caprivians. This was on the 28th of October 2019, in Katima Mulilo.
