This story reminds me of an old English folk song. The daughter wants to marry, but whoever she suggests, her father says essentially, don't tell your mother but I sired Johnny/Billy/Jimmy/etc, so you can't marry him. So she goes to her mom who says, your father never knew, but he's not the one who sired you, so marry who you will.
@@nilajakamau7854 I honestly don't know what you are insinuating here. I've heard it sung by English, Irish, and Scottish bards, and I'm sure it exists in many forms in other cultures too. I think once a year on the anniversary of getting her out of their lives they should send her a pretty box with a card that reads “you are still banned, we are having a GREAT life without you”.
And evil! Holy ####, she was plotting to kill her own husband for his money! Really creepy! It would have made a great mid 20th century black and white movie. (I like to watch those really old B&W movies. There are some really entertaining ones.)
Aha! So future MIL would not look good if a background check was done on her. Great! Another reason to hate the character of Susan. Who herself was lousy wife material...
This story started about the same as every other story with the same theme and ended up like an plotline from "Days of our lives" - kind of refreshing actually
So if Smith officially adopts Henry that means that he married his sister anyway doesn't it. Even if they are not related by blood, it is still a little weird. I wonder how they will explain all of this to their child.
They are siblings but not blood related siblings. The prohibition against marrying siblings or cousins is because even in olden days, people realized that blood related husband and wife tend to produce children with problems. Before there was ever any knowledge of DNA and recessive genes, there was observation of what happens when recessive genes are joined in the birth of a child. It was only a matter of time after people began becoming scientists that they would look into it and discover the science behind the prohibitions. Lucky for Henry and Lydia and their baby that there was no blood connection. Whew! Disaster escaped!
It is a sign of love, I have 2 children with whom I birthed before marriage. So is no one going to say anything about how he cheated on his wife too, why is she the only one who gets all the blame? From there ages it shows he cheated at the same time she did. I mean she is a lot worse, but still, and heck I feel sorry for the guy who thought Lydia was his daughter, and what about her mom, no one had any reaction to the fact she cheated as well and was lying to her husband and daughter all those years, this reminds me of that old saying rules for thee, but not for me, in this story only one person was punished for their actions yet the rest who also did wrong got off scott free, also if I’m not mistaken if his mother hadn’t cheated in the first place then he and his wife would’ve been related, so she unintentionally helped them dodge a bullet.
@@lexiburrows8127 yes it stated when she was born they weren’t married, but it’s possible that he thought he was the father, after all for all we know her father and mother were dating when her mother got pregnant and they only decided to get married after she was born, but this is only my assumption, but it also could be true after all if she knew her father wasn’t her father then I wonder why she never tried to find out who her biological father was, now if she thought or was told that her father was her biological father then that would explain it.
My dad is “Jones”. His sister married a Smith and the newspaper had a lot of fun with that. When we went to book a restaurant under “Smith and Jones” for their 50th anniversary they thought we were prank calling them.
I'm totally confused. They both have the same father but they still got married even though they're brother & sister? Which father was the father? Or was everyone cheating? And even if the mom did cheat at the beginning of the marriage, how could she be "thrown out of the house w/o alimony" or anything? In what country/religion or anywhere with laws would rule like that?
So the mom was just projecting🙄🙄And lol, this is why I've slept with any older black American guys- even though I've have always had a thing for silver foxes, rawrr lol (not that there's a lot of black Americans in Australia....thank god!!😂😂😐🤣)

So much drama, this was hilarious! What a wild, selfish woman.
The person who is voicing Susan is great. When Susan told Lydia how much she hated her, I believed it. I felt the anger & hatred. Good job.
I hope Henry and Lydia have a very wholesome life and keep Susan out by all means necessary

Dad and Son should have Mom committed to a psychiatric care unit. Stat I believe she is a physical threat to herself and others.

Why is it called “wedlock”? You’re not locked into the relationship.
Originally the woman was locked into the marriage way back when misogyny ruled the world. It's just a word that stuck😊
You were, as a woman, when the word was chosen for marriages .
Damn what a twist.

I’ve come to realize that life is boring and that’s why people like this like to stir up drama.
Lots of twists and turns, but it doesn't really make sense, unless Henry's father recognized Lydia's mother's name.
I bet Susan has some money issues and is trying to mike out money from op and trying to setup Henry with someone with money 💰
"Can you forgive me?" Is she kidding?
