- In this video I discuss what the best DAW controller is. In addition to this question I talk about what is the best DAW controller under £1000. We have owned and used many of the greatest DAW controllers on the market. We currently use an Avid S4.

what do you recommend for ableton? nice btw!
I don't have too much experience with Ableton, so can't comment on what works best with it. Most DAW controllers are compatible with all DAWs. Some better than others. The SSL UF8 works well with every DAW I've tried it with.
I have great expectation for the iCon Pro V1 M, Hopefully it will well integrated to Protools

The Avid S4 has its own computer built into it. So it is working independently to the macbook
have you think about Icon Qcon Prox at all ? I think it works perfect with UC1 and Logic pro.
I had an Icon daw controller years back and after a while the buttons stopped working. It seemed like they had a very low lifespan in them. It kind of put me off their products after that.
@@AudioAnimalsStudio yes, i heard that first product was like that but also heard that the newest versions working better. maybe they change something. anyways.. I hope some much that they will do new SSL MATRIX 3. athat would be game changer with pro solutions. and better versions of UF8

@@kinghandlee no thunderbolt plugs directly into your computer and then into the screen. You can use hdmi also.

@@AudioAnimalsStudio Hi, sorry to bother you again. I see there are two ports connected under the screen. One is for power and another is like a DP? So do I just unplug that cable and connect my computer on it?

i know it comes down to opinion, but the Avid stuff is wildly overpriced. 20k for those two screens? 43 inch raven is only 3k thats just absurd. as is most pro tools stuff. i havent touched PT since school, and thats part of the reason. SSL Matrix is 20k, is an amazing controller, summing mixer and 32 point digitally controlled patch bay. Hell, for 50k you could get a genesys black and have real neve outboard, 2 touch screens and 32 faders in an actual hybrid mixer. The price to performance ratio seems way off to me

If the avid desk six doesn't work with cubase and you use cubase , then it's not the best controller.
I guess that makes it the best controller in that case, as it works with cubase.
@AudioAnimalsStudio i didn't know that. Does it auto bank and track follow in cubase?
@lfm119 yes. Faders all bank, track follows to centre fader on the master console. I haven't used it extensively with cubase.
