A Gigantic Arduino Board That Works!

  • I use the Arduino microcontroller for many projects. In this video I build a fully functioning 12x scale model of the popular Arduino Uno. I used a CNC machine to cut out the circuit board outline and lettering, and 3D printed all the connectors and components before assembling the entire project. Finally I demonstrate how to use the board to control some individually addressable RGB LEDs to automate my Christmas tree lights.

    As an engineer I spend most of my time problem solving and I think that's an extremely important skill. I have learned that complex problems that may seem impossible at first, can be solved by breaking them down into “byte sized” pieces. I hope that my viewers see my passion and enthusiasm for making things, and that it inspires them to make something that they're excited about.
    If you’re new here you may not know that I make a lot of other cool project videos like this. If you enjoy these kind of project videos, please consider subscribing to byte sized. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this video.

    Does anyone else find it funny that the scaled up Arduino uses a scaled down Arduino and USB port?

    It’s a lot more machining but it would be so cool to emboss the traces then paint everything with a glossy blue. Love how the text turned out tho

    • @ElvizzV2
      @ElvizzV2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, exactly what I thought! It absolutely needs the traces. The glossy blue is a nice addition :)

    This is one of the geekest and coolest things I ever seen on 2020. It almost matches with Raspberry pi 400, although this one is not even an official product! Awesome!

  • @ElvizzV2
    @ElvizzV2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Very cool project :) But it needs a gigantic USB cable to connect to the gigantic USB port -- of course both parts with hidden regular sized USB cable/port inside so that an actual connection is made.... would be awesome to connect that gigantic cable to your laptop :D

    Zach, if you ever get tired of storing it, you should send it to the folks at Arduino.cc! If they use it's image on their website, ask that they give you credit and provide a link to this video. Might just get you over 100k subscribers!

    I helped our local science center get their STEAMlab off the ground and I developed a huge breadboard to help teach the concept of how connections are made to kids. Little jumper wires can be tricky for young kids, so giant versions are much more approachable. A breadboard and various components could be an awesome exhibit at your local technology or children’s museum. Here’s a short video that shows the breadboard I made: th-cam.com/video/FXC5P_WZ1pE/w-d-xo.html
