Glad I was able to see this in person. Shakur is solid, he has a different style but he reminds me of a young Floyd and even Andre. Very calm and composed, he has great reaction/reflexes, accurate, his jab is money. Ruben is solid too
Shakur really good here...strikes first...mixes up strikes...mixes up his timing on the attack...counters on point. 6 bouts in a week for Reuben is too much.
Shakur judgment of distance and his timing is on point! Also sits on his punches while landing clean effective shots. His IQ is wise beyond his years Imo. Already a world champion and will accomplish much more. Can't wait to see him go against a Russell, Warrington, Berchelt, Frampton, Valdez, Davis, Santa Cruz, Padraza, Lopez, Haney, Loma, Linares, Garcia, Campbell, Farmer, Diaz Etc.. many fights to be made, Shakur being one of the first since boxing came back, so I can't wait for his next fight as well as many other fights, Loma VS Lopez is a brilliant match up.TR is cranking out the fights so it's good to have some new boxing to watch as I was running out of throw back classics to watch again. I think Fury vs Wilder rubber match might happen in September.
Indeed...As a cuban boxing fan,(not dcaf)and as a cuban myself,i have the same opinion,,,,the same way i say, that Shakur lost the gold medal facing one of my compatriots, but no shame in that Lost, since he was fighting a "virtuoso" who got his first olympic gold at 18years old,,,with all the tools for the game...Now with 22,Robeysi,,,(that's his name) its even more polished but still technically aggressive,so Shakur contrary to many pros these days, lost against the very best, and still will keep on improving.
Shout out to both fighters their track record speaks volumes. Ruben keep grinding. Shakur is definitely America's future gold medalist prying for you and I wish you great success. (LOL ...2Pac Shakur Stevenson LOL!)
You left that comment twice you must feel salty however they are both great fighters and a lost is a lost but when it counted the most Shakur won every round in the trials, he beat Ruben twice in one tournament and was the best fighter of the trials; his track record speaks for itself. I take my hat off to Ruben and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does as a pro.
This kid is going places. You can see the discipline in his form. All he needs to do is work on moving side to side instead of backing up. I understand he's trying to keep distance with his range, but once he gets older and slower it's gonna be a bad habit for him trying to fight out of the ropes. I like how he slips those inside uppercuts when he's against the ropes though. Neat trap for when you're young, but dangerous when you're older. Hope he gets the gold for Team USA!
taking a step back is great when done right. Floyd always took a step back, sometimes he'd take no step back for a counter right hand down the pipe. side to side movement is also important. taking a step back means they don't connect their first punch. If they commit to reaching for more they will get countered the fuck up. that is the purpose of the step back, obviously you don't do it on the ropes. these guys arent dumb.
Not everyone can be as good as Flpyd Mayweather haha, but I can see your point. Like I said, it's a good trick when you're young and quick; not so good when you're old and cocky. You raised a good point however about reaching further leaves you to get countered. Considering this kid is great at countering I don't see it being too huge of a problem for him right now to take advantage of that.
Both fighters are good they both will do well as pros. Shakers still is definitely good enough to get him a medal very talented kid reflexes offensively and defensively he is very on point
I understand both sides in regards to head gear etc.. One thing to note is what happens when you step into the ring with a guy like shakur or a very offensive young mayweather, even Devin Haney? I suppose fighters like this are rare...
+Shaq Smith yeah he looks fantastic.. Watched some amateur Floyd though after this though and Floyd still looked 'looser' than Shakur, he throws/threw more lead rights then ducked/evaded the counter at this stage than Shakur does. Shakur is mostly behind the lead.
+RichCwm Agreed Shakur has the classic amateur style which is why I think he'll do very well in the Olympics ...check out Shakur sparring Devin Haney he looks looser and more of an attacking style
@FightCapitol ok thanks bro makes sense I remember when I was a amateur I hated that when you got hit with a good shot the headgear would slide over your eyes and then it would keep turning and you would have to keep adjusting it so that makes sense.
Actually, its back to its original form. Olympic boxing made many changes after 1988 Seoul Olympics when Roy Jones Jr. lost to a Korean boxer. It was obvious to everyone Roy Jones Jr. was the winner. In order to less corruption, they decided to switch to a computer scoring system, add headgear, and deduct points for "sloppy" punches. As a result, less inside boxing, less power punches, and less excitement. The general public lost interest in what used to be one of the most exciting sports in the Olympics especially for Olympics. As a result, they switched it back but theres already been a few corruption scandals connected with Olympic boxing. A lot more exciting and fan friendly though!

When someone asked shakur 4 years ago the best & trickiest fighters he’d fought/sparred with he said ‘Terence Crawford, Lomachenko, I'd throw Gary Russell in there, Gervonta Davis, and I would say Ruben Villa, definitely Villa. He gave me an awkward, weird style, confused the heck out of me’
Well-conditioned athlete with a real good jab. His repertoire right now consists of just a simple one-two; no combinations. He has a nasty habit of throwing a left hook without setting it up first with a jab, hoping to catch the other fighter off-guard. As a result, he is often off-balance. That will cost him big-time if he turns pro. Another question to be answered is what will happen when he gets a good shot to the jaw. He's still young though and things can change.
Well the other question is how much respect he will get in the ring. I know he is a featherweight but he does not have much stopping power behind those punches, even for that weight class. If that is still the case when he turns pro some the little Mexican fighters will maul him on the inside. Being tall and long armed is only an advantage if you can keep people on the outside.
lol okay It's funny you said asked you anything i was trying to find out if you really was related to my nephew or not. You said asked you anything you would know. Then what was his first words. Where did he move to after he left ncc? If your mother is her sister then it would make her my sister. Why i never heard of her? k
Anything can happen in boxing but I dont see him beating Robeisy Ramirez (lvl above in class) Olympic and defending amateur world champ of Cuba. Shakur is in an extremely difficult stacked division in Rio, he has to fight perfectly in all his bouts to win gold.
I think this was a finals fight for the olympics this is how you win, the Russians and the Cubans fight this way and that's how they have been taking all the gold lately. The normal go get em American/ Mexican style is great for the pros but won't work in the Amateurs. Most guys who fight in that style lose in the trials and never get to the olympics, if they somehow make it to the olympics they never medal. It's a totally different ball game .
+Saiheme Billings Ur comment is spot on bro..Olympic.and amature boxing is 100% about compliling pts and not getting hit,..thats exactly wut this kid does
FRANK_BLOCK_SAVAGE #HBK Well they don't let us use them anywhere nowdays in my country but maybe they do it to prepare the boxers for the big tournaments. In my opinion the headgear removal is a big pile of shit but t is just my opinion.
😂😂😂😂 please put that boy robiesy in the ring with shakur rn in the pros and you’ll see who really is the daddy 😂 Shakurs style in the pros is more solid than robiesys and you can’t even deny it 🤷🏻♂️
suggestion... put your camera down... set it... and leave it the **** alone.... got tired of watching you play with your camera... watched a rnd before i quit...
Dude, go back to your 3rd world, racist shithole of a country. You know nothing about boxing if you're calling dominant Black Boxers, boring. Boring is YOUR people, not ours.
Glad I was able to see this in person. Shakur is solid, he has a different style but he reminds me of a young Floyd and even Andre. Very calm and composed, he has great reaction/reflexes, accurate, his jab is money. Ruben is solid too
+Latin Lover Shut the fuck up spewing the same shit over and over again
+someperson111 why are you mad?
Stevenson timing and distance was on point props
shouldve been a little more aggressive. even if he ended the rounds like sugar ray leonard used to
Stevenson Looks Good & has a good chance to medal.
Which ones would you like to see
My Boy Ruben made salinas proud potential will be one of the futures best in professional
FACTS!!
Don't tell that to Donte boxing..
He's not going to like it.
please post all of his trials fights.... this kid is the truth... my 10 year old son watches him a lot...
Thanks for the video, I hope he wins gold love watching him fight.
Great sportsmanship! Thanks for uploading these fights.
Thanks for the upload bro
+Mr.Showtime you're welcome bro. I'll try to keep'em coming
I used to have Ruben in my class . I never knew he was a boxer lol
this kid shakur is the truth👊
Shakur really good here...strikes first...mixes up strikes...mixes up his timing on the attack...counters on point.

Shakur's styles looks like the style of the elite, amateur, Cuban fighters...
Shakur have a beautifful Jab very accuracy
I was going for la raza but the other dude has skills he knew what he was doing props to him

Crazy today he is the lightweight WBC champion as a pro
shakur is sharp. God bless

Like if you came here after teo commented about this fight🥊
Both of them are very good
Great fight, great fight. Very proud of Shakur
already fights like a young pro
His favorite fighter is Andre Ward and you could see shades of Ward in his style. Very solid
Both fighters are good they both will do well as pros. Shakers still is definitely good enough to get him a medal very talented kid reflexes offensively and defensively he is very on point
impressive young boxer
Stevenson defense is amazing!!!!
Stevenson is really good i hope he becomes pro soon after he wins the Gold medal!!
i cant find the final where he lost , someones know where can i get it?
Stevenson's jab was key here.
nice. jersey strong
Ruben villa gonna be champ
When did this fight happen? Shakir did very good can't wait to see his pro career
this took place the beginning of January
Am i the only person who hears the Minecraft music in the background😂 the kids in the background playing minecraft lol😂
Im late but yeah I hear it lol
@@almondmilkisgud7192 nice ahahah
didn't ruben villa beat shakur twice?
jose garcia yeah but he got his ass whooped in this one.
villa won 2 and shakur won 1
the guy in blue lowers his hands to much he's going to get rocked other then that very good, both fighters!
I understand both sides in regards to head gear etc.. One thing to note is what happens when you step into the ring with a guy like shakur or a very offensive young mayweather, even Devin Haney? I suppose fighters like this are rare...
Where can i get those usa headbands
I got one at a store named Tilly's, they have a regular one and a black and white american flag.
Southpaw Floyd
+RichCwm I agree with you , of all the young upcoming fighters he reminds me of Floyd the most - and it doesnt appear that he tries to copy Floyd
+Shaq Smith where is that sparring??
+JASON K.O Mayweather is a genius, you know it deep down inside, but you could never cope his style cause you suck azz
America got themselves a gold medalist this year
No they didn't.
so quick question if anyone knows the answer to this, why has the Olympics went back to having the headgear removed?
because it's been proven that fighters tend to take more punishment / unnecessary punches with the false security of a headgear on
@FightCapitol ok thanks bro makes sense I remember when I was a amateur I hated that when you got hit with a good shot the headgear would slide over your eyes and then it would keep turning and you would have to keep adjusting it so that makes sense.

It's also to connect with the fighters more as far as being able to see their face, there will be more interest in Olympic boxing
Good jab
wow is all I can say
Ruben got no head movement common sense if you keep getting hit with the same jab move
shakur better be ready because hes maybe gonna have to face 2012 olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramírez if they end up in the same bracket
Stevenson was hitting his opponent at will. put on a boxing clinic
No head gear? How old are they?
19 or older
+Fight Capital TV correction its 18 or older
+zahir owens you're absolutely correct. Thank you for the correction.
+Fight Capital TV no problem thanks for being humble about it btw instead of getting mad at me lol
zahir owens Lol... What's right is right.
But timo Lopez said Shakur was beaten by robben wen was that
When someone asked shakur 4 years ago the best & trickiest fighters he’d fought/sparred with he said ‘Terence Crawford, Lomachenko, I'd throw Gary Russell in there, Gervonta Davis, and I would say Ruben Villa, definitely Villa. He gave me an awkward, weird style, confused the heck out of me’
world champ one day
where the head gear
I think boxer back in the days had a higher knock out present then these top fighters today
Dude wtf is the go with the "yellow" socks? Somebody punked you!🤣
Why do they have to wear shirts?

Looks like Shakur used to watch a lot of Floyd Mayweather 😅😅
I thought amateurs use headgear ...anyway shakur is a true technician hopefully he brings the gold back home in 2016
+Shaq Smith Headgear is still used except for in Elite competition &/or International Competition.
In Greece we use headgear only for the underage tournaments.I think headgear has been removed for the men's boxing everywhere.
