Every time i hear this song, it almost brings me to tears. Every element feels perfect - the tinkling piano, the heartbeat bassline, the stuttering percussion… and then David’s voice… First time i’ve heard this live recording, and it’s somehow even more powerful. Huge thanks for posting!
Beauty. When I first heard it, I thought it was fantastic, but wondered how a track so intricately produced would sound like on stage. This is a perfect version of the song onstage. Great to see "the most beautiful man in rock" ( that's what the NME said, not me.) doing his thing in geat voice, and giving it some eighties Bryan Ferry as well, too. I think Japan wanted to be Roxy Music, didn't they? And then, Duran Duran wanted to be Japan, and then,...I'll stop, now. In any case, this works very nice. I'd love to see Sakamoto-san live, but he never comes to Brisbane Australia, and neither does Sylvian. Great upload, though, so cheers!
+blackpeter70 Funny you say that as I met the brothers, Sylvian and Jansen with Karn tagging along at a party in 1980 Ladbroke Grove, London....we got talking & Jansen piped up and said that he was 'fucked off' with them being compared with RMusic, Sylvian said he didn't care providing people could see where they were coming from although their love of a certain Mr Bowie was laid bare at times!
i really can't see why you should be concerned about what i'm like when i try to be funny. but obviously, david sylvian can wear whatever he likes. all that matters is that he brings a guitar and that little choir of angels that seems to be living in his larynx.

Manu Katche` on drums. bass player messed up a tiny bit in the beginning- needed the solo to cover it- i liked all of this except for the male 'singer' near the end 'talking out' the great Sylvian lyrics.
do you think that is the direction he will take? even though he plays old stuff we all want to hear on the tour, i wouldn't say he seems too interested in pleasing the masses...

I have to disagree. I think he's become less and less commercial over the years, though the music is amazing (remember, Britney is commercial). Yes, he has stuck to his principles, and I'm curious why you think that will change. People get more set in their ways as they get older, and I suspect when he needs a bit of cash, he'll do a commercial or something but leave his core music as true to himself as ever. Just my guess.
