Excellent Ron - really enjoying this series - this takes it up a notch! Trane Changes are challenging. You'll be pleased to hear those classes we had on Skype lay a good foundation for a more structured approach - btw. if anyone wants a great teacher can recommend Ron - patient and a great listener!
Keep up the good work. İt might and probably will take years. But as soon as you are finished we all will have the ultimate lesson compendium on the Real Book. Thanks for that! And greetings from jazzy Berlin/Germany.
Thanks for your support, laertesdd! I'm really enjoying making each of these videos and it's a great, long-term project for anyone who wants to go through the book along with me!
Thanks James! I was pleasantly surprised too, since the sound of Coltrane's tenor is so strongly associated with his ballads such as this one, and also Alabama, etc. But it shows how good his compositions are. They translate well to any instrument.
Some people consider the Schoenberg's dodecaphonic system a mistake. Ornette Coleman's "Free Jazz" got a Zero-Star review upon release. Does anyone say the same about any of Coltrane's phases?
Thank you! Lovely playing.
Thank you Evan - that means a lot to me :)
Thanks Ron this is awesome!
Thanks Jacob - it's a great tune!

Thanks so much for the kind words! And I'm very glad you're doing well with your playing :)
Absolutely beautiful playing. I love the fact that you are playing the book like a journey and taking the time.
Thank you! And for being part of this journey.
Beautiful rendering of the tune. Bravo
Thanks Guy! It's such a beautiful way to use chords similar to that from "Giant Steps."

Great stuff Ron! Sounds really good on the piano.

That is a very important connection to make. Yes, many people didn't like Coltrane's work during the 1960s, especially in his last phases.

Just moving through the changes :)
