I remember these tornadoes very clearly. I was 10 years old and my dad and I were driving to our cottage near Collingwood that afternoon. He pulled over briefly in Caledon because the rain was too strong to see the road. Then when we got to Mono Mills he pointed out a demolished barn and said that there must have been a tornado. I had been sleeping and that sure woke me up! He said that if we did not stop in Caledon, then we might have been in that tornado's path. We were very lucky.

I remember seeing those clouds in Toronto and feeling that wind. The green, grey, white and black.

I was camping in the area with my scout troop that weekend. It sure was windy and we definitely had a rough time but no harm to any of us, thankfully. Even though I was a young kid at the time, I still remember looking up at the sky well before the tornado and thinking "this doesn't look right. I've never seen the sky look like this before."

I saw the beds coming-air borne from a destroyed mattress assembly facility (I think King Coil?) in Downsview landing on the ‘401’ I believe.

I was within walking distance when this hit. It was crazy! A friend and I showed up and the Army asked us to help search for survivors. They spray painted a stripe on our arms to signify us as volunteers.
I was only 16 at the time. Not sure that would happen these days. The carnage was unbelievable.

I remember this event. I was five years old, and I met a friend named Brad. His family was displaced by this tornado.

I'm sure lots of people had the '85 tornado on their mind with the recent tornado that hit south Barrie. Thankfully that more recent one was nowhere near as destructive as the one in '85.

I remember this. I thought though a kid was killed in Barrie too that might have happened in 1986 though. Horrible stuff. I was 5 years old then and would go to my grandparents cottage back then, miss those days.

It was only 12 people who were killed in 1985 and yes it was a young boy trying to ride his bike home 💔

Saw this storm as a kid. I was cutting the grass and my father pulled up in his truck and ordered me to go inside immediately. The sky grew green, then red. Very scary. We were spared damage thankfully didn't hit King City

Yet Barrie would have 2 more tornadoes since this one. Nowadays we have tornado warnings every single summer.

It was. Both the Orangeville and Barrie tornadoes were rated EF4 and killed a total of 14 people. The storm that hit Orangeville was on the ground for over 70 miles!
