I listened to that Vincent Price album last year around Halloween, hard to pass up some Vincent Price stuff. Haven't gotten to much horror stuff this October so im gonna go watch me a Coffin Joe movie. Thanks for the recomends Count Fithen 🦇
50 bucks on the Vincent Price reissue. I'd be interested, but too rich for my blood. Thanks for reminding me to pick up a hog's toe for my spell. I forgot all about it.
Coven claimed to be members of the Church of Satan. Incidentally, the lead singer of the band, the blonde woman (who is naked in the gatefold) is the only member of the group on "One Tin Soldier". She was hired as a session vocalist and Warner Bros. opted to release the record under the group's name instead of hers alone. Her name was Jinx Dawson. She died recently, I believe. Your video is very entertaining! Fun stuff!
@@davidkenner-rb8go No problem bro. she has several recent interviews here on you tube. While I'm not personally in agreement with her beliefs, she is kind of interesting.
Thanks for this spoooky presentation - some good recommendations (a lot, actually), of a genre/niche I have to search more 'cause I don't have any of these type of records in my collection. While checking on discogs, I've came across Twin Temple - a satanic doo-woop. Now, that's interesting combination you can listen to. :-) As I checked, they issued theri records in mono, like it was done in the 50s/60s.
@@RobertFithen A lucky find. If it hadn't been for you informative video, I wouldn't go searching for more. They sound melodic, and they issue their records in mono . as it would be done in the 50s and 60s. :-) I'm usrely grab a copy of their album. :-)
I the Vincent Price and Coven albums. The Price album is interesting, but is a bit long, which gets old after a while. The Coven album to me sounds like a soundtrack to a cheesy 1960’s B horror film. Two I have you didn’t mention are Alfred Hitchcocks “Music To Be Murdered By”, same idea I guess as the one you showed. Lastly, apparently hard to find is “Elvira Presents Haunted Hits”. A double album (to match her double D’s?) of songs from the 1950’s thru the 80’s, some great stuff on that one.
I still have the "Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House"(the orange cover) and "Scary Spooky Stories" albums I bought as a kid in the early 1970's.
@@RobertFithen Just looked it up, seems to be going between $20-30 on Discogs, far more than was paid for it when I was a kid. Not going to sell mine, due to sentimental reasons. With that knowledge however, I just digitized the album to my hard drive and a few back-ups. Hadn't listened in ages, didn't realize until digitizing the album was stereo, since I was listening on headphones. Decades ago as a kid, I listened on a portable record player.
Very enjoyable spooky episode! Bet you'd make a great host for a Nightmare Theatre kind of show. Might scar(e) some overly sensitive children a bit though. Yes, I think Anton LaVey's church of satan was meant as a parody on the hypocrisy of some of the christian churches. The satanic bible also makes for an interesting read and generally makes more sense than the "real" bible.
Great video , that Louise Huebner's lp was reissued a few years ago for of all things Rocktoberfrom Rhino records it came on color vinyl . The Vincent Price one looks cool, I just watched again Theater of blood nothing revenge like killing your critics. Happy Halloween .
I remember so well the " Schoolastic" book picks. I think I purchased some " Charlie Brown " halloween book and a horror anthology. Quite scarey for kids, included was the short story that was the basis for the " The Thing " movie. And " Splinter Of The Minds Eye ", Star Wars stuff. Sorry Robert you are no Vincient Price😅
Happy Halloween 🧛♂️ 🦇 Robert ! On Halloween 🎃 at Midnight my local store is opening at midnight to sell Songs Of A Lost World by The Cure. Took lots of planning with UMG to assure they would have stock ! I guess a UMG rep is coming by Halloween afternoon to make sure the boxes of Cure product are still safely sealed.
For real, what was the deal with all the paranormal/ufo/horror stuff at elementary school book fairs? That's all I ever bought, and some of it scared the crap out of me. Those illustrations in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark are still creepy to this day...
Rob loved this as always please brother listen to the vindictives jerk o lantern and tell me it's not the most Halloween fun song it's got Mikey jackcon dead Kennedys Vincent price and so many outhers only they could do I no U will love it as always my brother from a different mother peace and love lloydy
Please make the section beginning at 7:29 a TH-cam short with no text description. I picture a serious headbanger buying the Satanic Mass album and being very indignant that it isn't some brütal death metal.
15:18 Oh, yeah. I have read that story in a soft cover book titled "The Thing At The Foot Of The Bed" along with other ghost stories w/ illustrations. 15:58 Was it "Weekly Reader"? I had that in my school, and I used to order some good reading from there.
Have you ever heard of a St. Louis group called the aerovons they went to England back in 66 Abbey Rd. to record cause they wanted to be like the Beatles
What's slightly strange about the Satanic Mass album is that the characters - in the circle around the pentagram - are in fact Hebrew letters, just don't ask me what they are!
It's funny how the timeline of all of these releases about Satan and witchcraft is the same as the records in the big Jesus music movement (Jesus Christ Superstar, Spirit in the Sky, Godspell, Speak to the Sky, Larry Norman, etc.)

I use to have that haunted house album, but i had forgotten all about, but you have brought it all back, you are my hero for having 3 copies of it.😂
Each one is different lol
Oh wow..that voice was doing something to me
I immediately went online and purchased a copy of The Satanic Mass! Thanks for showing it! 😂
Hope you enjoy it.
Also the movie Rosemary's Baby.
Your intro sounded more like you were channeling Count Floyd than Count Dracula. 😄 "SCARY, KIDS!"
I have original copies of the Vincent Price and Coven albums. Another non-music one worth getting id Drop Dead by Arch Oboler.
I just saw that for the first time this week at a record store, but it was in pretty poor condition. I had no idea what it was.

Of course.

Jinx is still among the living, still touring in fact with a new incarnation of Coven.
@@gtaylor1812 I could've sworn I heard of her passing. Thanks for the correction.

Dr. Dre 2001 CD booklet photo shows him standing over Sounds To Make You Shiver in a pile of records on the floor.

I can definitely see it being a parody. It sounds a lot like political Christians of today.

Wow - so, nowadays, Anton LaVey would have his own ultra-right AM radio talk show?

Yes, should be one of the classics for Halloween.

I've thought about compiling clips like that and making an "out-of-context" video.

I think Vincent Price would've sounded good narrating the Satanic Bible.
I would be so upset if I played that Anton album backwards and nothing happened.

People fed up with Earthly realities becoming more interested in the supernatural in either direction.
Weird records
Certainly not your average Bryan Adams albums.
Great video Robert as always
Thanks!!
