It’s saying “Local volumes are required to complete the operation.” I wanted to safe the backups on my NAS since it has much more storage, but isn’t that possible? Can you make a video on how to get those files onto a NAS?
Hello, Real person here, It always astounds me how the indian dudes on youtube will give you a clearer and more definitive method of doing things that actually works. I've wanted to do this for years and all the other vides have been a load of BS, and never worked which discouraged me and I never got it done. I hope whoever sees this also has it work for them. I made sure to delete the old files, have itunes make a new backup just to make sure everything was exactly the same as it appears in the video, and this time, I was successful. Good luck to all, and thank you Vikas for making a tutorial that has eased my frustration with this particular topic.
As mentioned by other reviewers, this tutorial is top notch in presentaion and detail. For example, just a simple detail like where to enter a space when typing in the PowerShell box is covered. I previously tried other youtube and online tutorials and ended up corrupting my existing iTunes backups simply because no one else mentioned where to type a space! I bought a new computer and external hard drive so I can make sure they are saved since I’ll never get to hear their voices again without those memos. I didn’t even think about the storage on the computer since I was planning on saving everything to the external drive, but of course that wasn’t easy to change where my iPhone would store my backup. The past few days I've been re-dowloading everything to my D drive (because I have no idea how else to do it) because my C drive was full. I just got an iPhone 13 and I'm getting it set up tomorrow. Wow at 62 i did this and it's working. I was copying and transferring the entire backup file to an external and then deleting. It was a lot of extra work

[Update] 🔴 Guys, I see people facing issues while restoring iPhone after backing up using this method. Please don't save your iPhone backups on external hard drive, if it is not that necessary. And remove this link and save iPhone backup on C drive (default) before you restore it to your iPhone. Avoid restoring directly from Had Disk. 🤷🏻♂️
So what is the point then? Chances are, you’re doing this because you don’t have room on C drive. Can you not restore them from external? Then why waste your time?

[Update] 🔴 Guys, I see people facing issues while restoring iPhone after backing up using this method. Please don't save your iPhone backups on external hard drive, if it is not that necessary.
And remove this link and save iPhone backup on C drive (default) before you restore it to your iPhone.
Avoid restoring directly from Had Disk. 🤷🏻♂️
All files end with .plist

So what is the point then? Chances are, you’re doing this because you don’t have room on C drive. Can you not restore them from external? Then why waste your time?

@@DearxDhea it ended up working for me on a restore. The backup file from the external HD popped up when restoring and it worked just fine.
