How about going back to 1986 and the ORIGINAL turnbased strategy game on the Mac called Stragic Conquest? Or the 1990 title Warlords? BOTH mega Turn Based Classics!
I'd say the King's Bounty games are more tactical battle/turn based RPG than strategy. There is no strategy management aspect outside of combat, just exploration and quests. Other than that though, great list. Definitely some games on here I need to check out.
ssi's generals series: panzer general, allied general, fantasy general, pacific general, civil war general, space general. there was also a warhammer 40k game that used the same game engine, but i can't remember what it was called. it was not called warhammer general. interactive magic's 'the great battles of' series: alexander, hannibal, caesar. age of wonders OG koei's "the romance of the three kingdoms" series. empire of magic
I gotta say, what that was spot on selection and placement. Even the little touches like TW:WH2 being there while 3 not (lmao). One thing i would argue is that for Rome 2 to be on that list, it should be only if modded. Otherwize Empire should be there, other than that awesome.
honestly, TW:WH3 is a better game at the moment than TW:WH2 the downside is the shady pricing scheme with the game's DLC but if you got your bills paid, some moneys laying around, I would recommend you to get WH3
@@hzt_rzkyii own them and i have to disagree. wh3 is a tad bigger, but it's way worse in every aspect, at least that's how ti feels to me. And i won't even mention the terrible map graphics compared to the last two games. Money is not the problem when the product is great. Prices feel stupid when it's a stupid product. Compare that to let's say terra invicta where i have 500 hours in early access, i would give them 80$ but wh3 is not even 30$ (dlc included). But, this is my personal preference and to each his own.
I remember a game from years ago and tried to find it for years basically u start the game in a forest with a company of a wolf/dog and start by talking to an old mage if anyone knows the name let me know
I really tried to love total war Warhammer 2, but there is just sooo much going on i have to ignore for my sanity and getting to the engaging part of a campaign takes way too long
Great video Joel! Keep up the good work! I really am enjoying Rogue trader more than BG3. Rogue trader was my personal game of the year in 2023. Salute to Larian BG3 was great (lol I had to say this part so I won’t get crucified in the comments by the Larian Avengers).
I bought it, then realised its really puzzle game. In many of the maps there is one “right way” to win. That takes my imagination and theory crafting out of the game. The two elements I enjoy the most in a strategy game. So after about two hours I realised it wasn’t for me. Very popular game. But not my thing.
Tactics Ogre might fit, but FF, every FF from 1 to 12 .. when they moved to pseudo turn based, have the strategic depth of a very shallow puddle. FF is more about story. Don’t get me started on XIII through XV and now XVI. Where they sold any idea of proper strategy right down the river.
how the fuck do they make an ancient greek based game and getting the names wrong...lynkestis? wtf Good thing they included Macedonia(which is Greek and not Slav)

Song of Conquest - 100%, it is the best tribute to Heroes and Disciples in thr terms of gameplay and strategies
fr
alpha centauri was such a amazing game - cant believe there was no follow up
age of wonders planetfall has been my favorite lately... it's like a blend of HoMM + Civ + XCom
Imperiums: Greek Wars is a *GREAT* game that needs more coverage, thanks for rightly including it in your list :)
No problem!
Revival 1, 2, 3, and 4, u never belive me thats old fucken game in that era so nostalgic very rich logical thing game
BEST OF ALL. PANZER CORP 1.... ONE....NO TWO. WITH MODS!! Siltherine. BEST OF ALL TIMES IN BIGS MAPS WITH MORE THAN 200 differents units.
I wish there were more games in this genre for console. I’m too poor to afford a pc.
WTF? There's PCs for any, ANY budget, even free (second hand) if you know to assemble them while the consoles have always been overpriced.

That's like saying Chess is MORE tactical and LESS strategic than it really is.
4the kids.... wish developers would have made more turn base games like the original Xcom UFO defense from the 90s

I wont argue if thats your experience with the product
I however enjoy WH3 much more than WH2 due to the sheer amount of map size it offers

Ascension to the throne
I really tried to love total war Warhammer 2, but there is just sooo much going on i have to ignore for my sanity and getting to the engaging part of a campaign takes way too long
That's because it is really 80% real time......should NOT be on this list.

Into the Breach anybody?
Never hooked to me
Absolutely ❤
Nope.
ITB is just worse Front Mission.

Very popular game. But not my thing.
instead of total wars, age of wonders planetfall would be a better pick, these age of wonders games are great turn based strategy gems
But aren't the Total War games real-time, not turn-based?
its a mix
They're like Risk, and you have the option to play the battles in real time, or let them play out with RNG.
turn-based strategic, real time tactical
Iron storm? Love that game wish they would update it or make a new version sega saturn iron storm not whatever this newer iron storm is
No XCOM 2?!
speaking of opinion the games you show cased are mosty rts's not tbs's. o.o
Has nobody played Expeditions: Viking?????
At least for me this is not what I think of as a turn based game yes it is but this is a much different thing than lets say Final Fantasy
альфа центавра реально самая лучшая часть цивилок
The fact that there's not a single Front Mission, or Final Fantasy Tactics game on here, is an offense to the genre.
No just no
Tactics Ogre might fit, but FF, every FF from 1 to 12 .. when they moved to pseudo turn based, have the strategic depth of a very shallow puddle. FF is more about story.

Has nobody played Expeditions: Vikings?????
Turn Based Strategy Games, why not put some pure tactics games in this list, or king's bounty became a strategy game some how?
Heroes 3 on android? Where? How? Help!!???
how the fuck do they make an ancient greek based game and getting the names wrong...lynkestis? wtf
Good thing they included Macedonia(which is Greek and not Slav)
It's a crime that Rome II was in this list instead of Rome I
Stellaris
why tf r all these game looking the same.. like u know theres turn based strategy games than arent ur own personal preference??
80% bs game i think only good game in turn base is bulder gate 3
Not even one spot for Age of Empires 2... holy moly
it's a turn based strategy game list. age of empires 2 is a real time strategy.
@@MR_ARKANSAS you're right good catch
I love rpg, but I hate 4k.
No battle brothers, while its better then any of this games
