When I first saw this scene I was half asleep on the couch with the credits playing in the background, drifting off into the night. I never knew this scene existed so my shock when I heard talking at the end of the credits and I opened my eyes to see murals of three classic Toho monsters was immense. The second the scene finished I rushed to my parents to freak out about Ghidorah and Rodan and Mothra being in the next Godzilla movie.
The 1962 King Kong vs. Godzilla is pretty fun to watch and half of that is because it's cheesy, but now we're getting an upgrade in 2020! It's like going from the Adam West Batman to the Tim Burton Batman all over again!
To me this is the start of the MonsterVerse, the 2014 Godzilla movie was boring and a massive let down with so little Godzilla, a lame ass fight, and Godzilla nearly losing like a weakling. Kong Skull Island is the only reason many even got invested in the movies because it actually gave a badass movie and a killer after credits that hooked people.

Difference is in Minus One the human story keeps you invested as you care about them, the destruction by Godzilla is terrifying and the desperation when they are already down but still trying to survive this force of nature. 2014 is too much about the new MUTOs which no one gave a shit about because people were expecting Godzilla to be the driving focus or atleast have more time on screen then he did.

I'm sad I slept on this movie when it first came out, but I did catch the post-credit scene when it first was put on TH-cam. I got literal chills when we were basically getting a remake of Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster. And I know everyone was talking about Godzilla VS Kong or Ghidorah making his entry, but me personally, I went nuts seeing my favorite, Rodan, get confirmed for the Monsterverse. And he was so awesome in King of the Monsters.
