@@ElevateYourselfOfficial I have a question about setters that I would like answered, if possible. Normally, setters stand so that their bodies are facing the left hand side of the court when they are about to set a spiker. Standing like that makes it easier for left handed setters to hit on the second touch rather than right handed setters. Because of this, I have heard that coaches tend to like left handed setters more. I understand how it might be easier since I am left handed. So my question is, to rectify this problem, why don’t right handed setters face the opposite direction when setting to make it easier for them to hit on the second touch? Is it because sanding whilst facing the left hand side of the court makes it easier for them to set to their outside hitters?
I love when Seijoh's coach says "You can't use the mad dog if you're scared". It just goes to show how bold this new strategy is. They have to be willing to accept losing points short term to profit in the long run.

I think they keep missing serves because both teams are at the point where their normal serves will get picked up a lot, and so now that they're playing against each other they're trying to hit harder and in tougher spots. So for example Oikawa is known for his accuracy in combination with his power, but he can take it that step higher power wise in exchange for control. So he is getting a bunch of aces but missing more than last time.

Coach, I wanted to thank you for waiting until the end of plays to pause and give your insights. Many reviewers and reaction videos will stop immediately when they see something, but imo that breaks the pacing of the scene, and the feeling of frantic chaos or panic it may be trying to illicit. Especially on the climactic set points and such Really appreciate the videos
The signal oikawa gave to his team on the receive was signaling to pass the ball in front of him. It was a play to lure hinata forward with the set to free up the right side. As a middle, I hate this play! It is so hard to block against
Hey coach, As a non-volleyball player and a haikyuu fan, thanks for your videos. They're so fun to watch especially with the real-life volleyball clips and your insight from your own volleyball experience. It's so fun to watch your reactions and watching the anime all over again with you. Thanks for the videos, I hope you take your time to upload them and don't rush or pressure yourself
I love to see coach Donny getting excited over Kagayama's hit, i understand it pretty well! During all my high school and collage days, i was a setter (not a bad one actually) and coaches got excited every time we'd run a 6-2 offense to see me hit just cause i'm almost 6'1.
I just love how Iwaizumi is just a pillar for his team all around. His receives have picked up balls that looked like points for Karasuno and his hitting is completely reliable.
I definitely agree on the importance of seijo’s coach for their team as a whole. Another really good coach I’d actually want to hear your thoughts on would be nekoma’s coach as both teams don’t have the most talented players but are able to make some amazing teams.
It really is a testament to both coach donnys knowledge as well as Haikyuus dedication to representing the sport of volleyball that hw can so frequently accurately predict the next play, the psychology of the players that are going to be shown next. So cool.
17:07 I just noticed what this is was. The Libero on purpose passed it off the center for Oikawa to lure in the middle blockers over his side so he can set a relatively free Mad Dog on the other end. That is what Oikawa's thigh double tap signal was.
Fun fact: i didnt notice until my 2nd time watching this match, but at 8:00 when Daichi is looking at Oikawa’s serve that went out, you can make out what looks like dirt or burn marks on the court where the ball landed. And its super close to the line
I feel the translation for Sawamura's comment there being "I feel like WE'RE getting more in sync" was unfortunate. He actually said「だんだん照準合わせてきてる気がする」= "I feel like (HE'S) gradually getting (his) aim adjusted". The comment was to show that Sawamura was feeling anxious about the gradually improving aim, but their translation made it sound as if he felt something was improving in their favor or something.
@@bdylp1098 yeah, I really don't know what is up with this translation, because the translation which I watched originally plainly showed daichi saying that "[he] is getting more accurate"
@@ananyasharma7463 Great to know that there's a better translated version out there for comparison! I found at least 2 more "awkward" translations this ep, so hopefully people would watch many versions & come to a better understanding. (^_^)
Something I literally just noticed, both Asahi and iwaizumi both learned jump serves in the second season, and they are both the aces, of the setters who were originally able to jump serve. Kinda a neat parallel
About the coach mentioning the strategy of two setters, it was somewhere from episode 9 to 11 of season 1 when they were playing the Neighborhood Association team. It was when Ukai and Takeda were discussing the players and Ukai heard about two of them (Kageyama and Sugawara) both playing the same position in different manners and had his devilish shark tooth grin and you explained that that's one of the best things a coach would want in a team
Kunimi is the one on the right during the flashback talking with the seijoh jersey on he’s one of kageyamas teammates in middle school he conserves energy and doesn’t go all out which makes him effective in the late game!
Coach really got into this episode XD It's so great to see how familiar you are with the characters now and how invested you are. It makes me really excited for you to see future seasons! I also love hearing both the animation AND the volleyball insights!! It's so perfect!
I just want to say i've watched Haikyuu at least 3 times now but I must say watching it with your added commentary makes it so much more interesting from details about the animations to insights about the game and volleyball as a whole. This is truly a great way to watch and grow a deeper appreciation for the anime and sport. Keep up the great work, coach!
You can see since previous episode that Oikawa has been warming up to get that service ace. This explains why he keep missing 7:55, 16:34 and his accuracy increases everytime he serves 09:00. I respect his gut to take the risk despite close set point in the first set, so he can fully control it by the second set
It was too bad that the translation for Sawamura's comment about this was "I feel like WE'RE getting more in sync". 「だんだん照準合わせてきてる気がする」is more like "I feel like (HE'S) gradually getting (his) aim adjusted", meaning he's having a bad feeling that Oikawa's serves are improving aim-wise.
@ 7:12 I'm not sure if anyone already commented about this but the Japan-Male team knew about Haikyuu and some of them watched and read the manga too! They also had an interview about it with some of the players wearing Haikyuu team uniforms 😊

Hey coach, recently started playing volleyball thanks to your videos. Got my first ball today and while ive been unable to play with a net yet but my serves and ball control is getting alot better!
Just a piece of info... Mad dog = kyouken Kyouken is the initials of Kyoutani Kentaro which is his full name. It is similar to Ushiwaka only here Kyoken means mad dog.
When we get to season 3, please don’t spoil or hype up any episodes!!! Hyping up specific episodes without spoilers is still spoiling... let him experience it all for the first time as we did

You've got the best fans because of the best reactions and comments of yours, Coach! Very informative not only in volleyball techniques but also to other stuffs like animation. Like that simple blur in noya's arm. I watched haikyuu many times I didn't notice that. We're really learning a lot from you!
I commented this from last weeks episode: from the way Mad Dog approached, it sure looked as though he was running an illegal back court attack. But he’s in the front row as Iwaizumi is serving. And because I’m a nerd, I think Seijoh’s rotation for that point looked like this: (1) Iwaizumi (O/WS) - serving (2) Kindaichi (M) (3) Mad Dog(WS) (4) Makki (O/WS) - can see him block with Kindaichi (5) ?Libero name? (6) Oikawa (S) so definitely not illegal, but very aggressive approach??
I’ve seen Haikyuu!! for more than 10 times now, and I won’t ever get tired rewatching it, especially with you now, Coach! I’m learning and noticing new things every time!
So Impressed how coach call a lot of moment from haikyuu. I got chill everytime coach say something that actually will happen even tho not like many of us, this is his first time watching this series.
Whenever i watch your reaction videos it makes me feel the same way on how i feel when i watch an episode for the first time and i love it! This match made me realize again how i love the matches with Seijoh and Karasuno and how in this episodes I learned how to love Kpop despite my irritation with hi character before :)
The long time viewers understand the value of pure reaction. We watch for that and experience the show for the first time again vicariously through you. Spoiling the show defeats the purpose. Your analysis and knowledge is the icing on the cake. However, when you hit the end of the series, going back and using specific episodes as learning and coaching tools would be great to see as a deeper analysis and discussion opportunity. Just my 2 cents.
Props to coach for improving his editing skills! The subtitles on the bottom are only the text rather than a cut-out of the bottom of the episode! 👏👏👏 he's growing so fast 😭
Omg watching you get excited for the 6-2 is every Haikyuu viewer ever. It's so cathartic to see Suga and Kageyama on the court together, especially seeing how Suga being left out was an important thing in season 1.
I mean, one of the best perks of sharing something you like and enjoy is that you are able to see how the other person react, how he/she feels while watching and experiencing that what you are sharing. There's no point in spoiling something bc it simply ruins the experience for everyone. With that said, yes, there are awful people out there that just love to see the world burn, so I really apreciate there's no one like that in this community.
Coach , you missed one of oikawa's iconic scenes where he says "I'll make your fangs even sharper" you were explaining something while that was going on , I request you to watch it , you'll really appreciate kpops mindset after that.
Yes!! I really really appreciate and love your reactions. I hated volleyball when I was a teenager because I could never understand it and it was always too complicated for me. However, after watching Haikyuu, I fell in love with it. Rewatching it with you has helped me truly appreciate the sport and understand its beautiful complexity. Your passion for and understanding of the sport makes me want to turn back time and see volleyball from a different perspective. Who knows? Maybe I'll pick it up for fun!
I just wanna thank you for this series Coach Donny. It makes me feel like I'm watching the show for the first time again and waiting every week for a new episode is so exciting.
We can see your excitement in your reactions! It feels so good seeing someone enjoy Haikyuu as much as yourself. Hope you enjoy the ride and see all the boys growing!
Hey coach, I don't usually comment but I just wanted to thank you! I've been a fan of haikyuu since 2019, picked up the manga (after season 4) and finished it in a week, just recently. Hearing your commentary and analysis brings a whole new depth to the entire experience, and I'm just glad to be 'reliving' these memories, all while seeing you enjoy something I'm so passionate about. Where I'm from, it's hard to get the opportunity to play volleyball (even casually), but watching your content really makes me wanna learn and play. Up until now I never would've thought that I would want to play volleyball so badly but here we are ahah, so thank you!
The joy of seeing your reactions coach is that they are genuine and so insightful (because of your experience as both an animator and volleyball player...such a perfect combo for this series)! We would never dare to spoil the best or more exciting moments 👊🏽👍🏽

Coach, I wanted to thank you for waiting until the end of plays to pause and give your insights. Many reviewers and reaction videos will stop immediately when they see something, but imo that breaks the pacing of the scene, and the feeling of frantic chaos or panic it may be trying to illicit. Especially on the climactic set points and such
Really appreciate the videos
The face of Coach Donny when he saw Yamaguchi on scene, priceless!!!
They way you smiled while you were realizing that Yamaguchi wanted to go in, was exactly how I reacted at the same scene. Loved it!!
It never gets old to see Coach being a Karasuno 3rd years fanboy (and Yamaguchi's!)
I definitely agree on the importance of seijo’s coach for their team as a whole. Another really good coach I’d actually want to hear your thoughts on would be nekoma’s coach as both teams don’t have the most talented players but are able to make some amazing teams.
Me too! I also wonder what's his reaction to Shiratorizawa's coach. 😅
@@yaomomoulan9796 ooohh time to speculate. I bet he'll be a memorable character for coach donny.
Coach Donny getting that Yamaguchi content he wanted ayeee🤘🏻🤪
Omg coach epic reaction face at the end when yamaguchi is getting his 360” anime angle!!! Priceless !!!
23:55 EXACTLY was waiting for Kageyama's hit as well!
your reaction to the episode ending is so relateable hahahaa
I can’t believe we only have 4 more episodes of S2, then get S3 in a (few) week/s after the last S2 episode.
Coach Ukai saying "Oh, shut up already. I know" and then Yamaguchi showing up is one of my favourite moments in the whole series
23:54 Most genuine smile I've seen from the coah...
I'm loving how he got so excited over that play
I didn't realize I was this early until I looked at the views haha, Coach is gonna LOVE the next episode! I'm really glad he's enjoying it. These reactions have been the highlight of my week for months now and I really appreciate Coach for taking the time & effort to post them!
I like to imagine that the trumpet player is sitting in the stands playing that Erie music, every time that Mad Dog scores.
During the VNL this year they've played several Haikyuu songs for Japan's games. It's awesome, I know Yuji Nishida and a few others on the team are big fans.
Hey Coach! Thanks for your amazing reaction videos. It's so interesting to see a volleyball player's take on this show!
I just wanted to let you know that there is an extra scene at the end of S2 that isn't included in the show, but was in the summary movie. You can watch it on youtube if you look up "Aoba Johsai S2 ending". It has spoilers though so don't watch it until you finish S2E25! I would love to see your reaction to it!
Seconding this! Here's a link for the extra scene (contains spoilers: th-cam.com/video/Lao54_hFaA0/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=VenniTalvi), think coach would really enjoy watching it :)
we're also rewatching haikyuu by watching your reaction videos, coach hahahahaha the only difference is now we're watching it with someone who can explain more about volleyball to us which makes it really enjoyable and more interesting.
Hey coach, recently started playing volleyball thanks to your videos. Got my first ball today and while ive been unable to play with a net yet but my serves and ball control is getting alot better!
Thats so cool! Good luck on ur volleyball journey!
13:23 Noya’s face after what Mad dog had said is wonderful.
We love to see Yamaguchi stepping up! I just love his growth. That was one of my favorite Yamaguchi moments so far
Just a piece of info...
Mad dog = kyouken
Kyouken is the initials of Kyoutani Kentaro which is his full name. It is similar to Ushiwaka only here Kyoken means mad dog.
You could feel how excited coach was at the end, he sounded super thrilled analyzing seijoh's team dynamic! I'm so hyped for the next episodes~~
Hey coach just wanted to remind you that there is some after credits on episode 25 just so you don't forget. Love watching the reactions weekly!
Coach: "when I'm 80 years old and can't beat high school boys anymore..."
Me: yeah because at 79 years old you'll still be kicking their butts
I was just thinking about grandpa Ukai and how not even retiring can make him stop coaching ngl
I've watched this a thousand times but every time I watch that last scene with yamaguchi i get goosebumps!
The music really helps.
Today's my birthday and this is a great present to start my day with. Thank you coach!!!
Happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎊🎊!!!
Happy birthday!!!

Happy birthday!!! 🎉🎉
Btw My birthday is also in a few days =)
When we get to season 3, please don’t spoil or hype up any episodes!!! Hyping up specific episodes without spoilers is still spoiling... let him experience it all for the first time as we did
Guys, coach was just thanking us for not spoiling and you all are being complacent in the comments section. Please still be mindful!! I'm going to try reporting spoiler comments as spam ಠಗಠ
You've got the best fans because of the best reactions and comments of yours, Coach! Very informative not only in volleyball techniques but also to other stuffs like animation. Like that simple blur in noya's arm. I watched haikyuu many times I didn't notice that. We're really learning a lot from you!
27:58 one of my favorite bounces from the whole show so far, crazy hangtime for Tanaka
I commented this from last weeks episode: from the way Mad Dog approached, it sure looked as though he was running an illegal back court attack. But he’s in the front row as Iwaizumi is serving. And because I’m a nerd, I think Seijoh’s rotation for that point looked like this:
(1) Iwaizumi (O/WS) - serving
(2) Kindaichi (M)
(3) Mad Dog(WS)
(4) Makki (O/WS) - can see him block with Kindaichi
(5) ?Libero name?
(6) Oikawa (S)
so definitely not illegal, but very aggressive approach??
Seijoh's libero is named Watari I believe
I love how Coach Donny is like a supportive dad to yamaguchi, its so funny and wholesome
It makes me so happy that coach is so excited about Yamaguchi since he's one on of my favorite characters
Yamaguchi: ready to serve
Tsukki: ready with some salt
Let these bestie squad shine in next episode 👍👍
Whenever i watch your reaction videos it makes me feel the same way on how i feel when i watch an episode for the first time and i love it! This match made me realize again how i love the matches with Seijoh and Karasuno and how in this episodes I learned how to love Kpop despite my irritation with hi character before :)
yowww its 12:30 am here in the philippines! i'm waiting for this hOhO
he's growing so fast 😭
these reactions are honestly the best part of my weekend!
same! its such a good way to let go and just rest ( ꈍᴗꈍ)
Coach, are you gonna do videos for the Olympics? Analyzing and predictions or maybe reactions to the matchs? 🤩
You gotta watch the last 2 episodes of this season at once for the hype!!!
Omg watching you get excited for the 6-2 is every Haikyuu viewer ever. It's so cathartic to see Suga and Kageyama on the court together, especially seeing how Suga being left out was an important thing in season 1.
I've now reached the point where when i rewatch Haikyuu i think 'i cant wait for coach to watch this '
Literally rewatching all of these lol
Thank for making videos for us coach. Love from India ❤️
