  • This video is for educational purposes only for Georgia Training Center students and is not intended to replace in person training. Skills vary state to state so please refer to your state or facility for accuracy.
These are a few areas that students forget:
Students must make sure that the clients feet are flat on the floor before putting on shoes and assisting to stand. The gait belt must be grasped with fingers in the upward position. Students must make sure that the wheelchair is locked and the foot rests are up before placing client in the chair. Students must assist the client to stand and turn to stand in front of the wheelchair. Once the back of their legs touch the wheelchair they can sit down and must be seated all the way to the back of the wheelchair. Students must remember to remove the transfer belt and position the clients feet on the foot rests.
Please refer to your skills book for the steps to this skill

Isn't it supposed to be knee to knee as per the GA state skill sheet paper, when the resident/ cleint is being pulled from the bed?
