    Hello Kara and Jerad, I want to let you know that I appreciate the budget knife videos. Most TH-camrs get big and never do budget knives anymore. Best budget stiletto: TacForce “Big Boy”. Spring assist, pops open instantly, 6.5” blade sharp enough out of the box to do what stilettos are designed to do. Sturdy enough to do that job when needed; inexpensive enough to be disposable when usage requires it.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably the civivi brazen, another one I should of added is the Kizer justice great harder use work knife, but depending on what kind of aggressive, aggressive cutting or aggressive prying and scraping?

    • @Deibodese
      @Deibodese 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Neeves Knives
      I’ll take a look at those! I was thinking aggressive cutting, maybe aggressive piercing. I (generally) have enough sense not to pry with a knife, but I have experienced the FRN handle of my lightweight knife squashing or warping when trying to cut through a thick ball of modeling clay. I also recently broke a huge made-in-Pakistan lockback trying to use it like an axe on a small tree stump that was growing up against the fence in my backyard. The craziest I get, even with prying, is with my Izula. That thing is so absurdly strong that I’ve started using it as a gardening shovel to cut the roots of unwanted plants, then pry them up out of the ground.

    Loving the kizer mini sheepdog!!!! Action is super smooth and addictive with perfect detent and pretty good acoustics. I mean where else can you get CPM-10V for $84 with micarta scales?? Only complaint are the ergos there absolutely HORRIBLE on the mini...... granted that's only because the handle length is under 3 and half inches. I would have gone with 3.25 inch blade because it comes with a longer overall length and has additional handle room for bigger hands but it wasn't available at bladehq.

    Honorable mentions are most Kershaw and CRKT sub-$50 knives. They won’t win awards for actions or being sleek, but they work well. And Kershaw made the mini Skyline to compete with the Elementum and it may honesty be a better knife.
    Just worth mentioning. Like a M16 is a knife that will last decades and you can find them from $30-70 and there’s about twenty options. Kershaw has probably thirty blades under $50

    Great fast moving video, but your idea and my idea of a budget knife are completely different. I have a knife collection and many of my knives cost less than $20, many cost more. I have fun finding great cheap knives. Most of the knives you call cheap are well over $50. They may be good knives but I have several really good knives I paid less than $10 for. I think you might even be impressed and I do not collect junk knives.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I went between 25 and 80 because everyone's idea of budget knives are different, and it's nice to know that for 10 more $ what you can get or not get, and things that were 30$ at the beginning of the year have went up in cost so 2021 budget knives are a little more $ than last years. My idea is 50 and under normally

But, I am "on a fixed income." The Osborne is not in the budget right now. So I am looking for a knife with a similar design (and possibly a flipper) at a lower price for right now. Personally I only have the elementum button lock with the marbled carbon scales and damascus blade and the imperium with the jade scales and nitro v blade and love them both.not really a fan soo far for the nitro v steel on the imperium though only because it doesn't really seem to hold a edge for too long.in it's defense though I have knifes such as the carbon scaled viper katla with a m390 blade steel and that doesn't hold a edge for too long either.knifes are used a lot for cutting up cardboard and cutting open ingredient bags like flour.s35vn steel blades imo work great for cutting cardboard and whatnot and that steel seems to hold a great edge for along time so find myself always using my ArtisanCutlary Centauri the most out of all my knifes.

      You gotta get the Sencut Actium, it's just such a slicey monster because of the hollow grind and it being d2 doesn't mean much considering how good properly heat treated D2 really is. Don't have to worry much at all about rust if you get a black coated one (as long as you run it through a sharpener occasionally and don't let it get wet (and if you do, not for too long before you wipe it down.)
      I got the Purple G10 with the black coating and it just doesn't relent on the edge for a whole month of common use.

    I paid roughly 55-60 USD for a Spyderco, steel type is 8Cr13MoV.
    Is this good steel? It's my first Spyderco knife and I was kinda concerned that the price being so low means it's crap steel.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a bottom of the barrel budget steel, barely adequate, and for the price no it's not. Sorry to say, spyderco does great heat treatments so it's probably done well for the steel but it's still a super simple steel

    Try the Camillus LK6 with what they call a 2.5" Titanium D2 for $20 at Knife Center. No kidding, I bought one cuz D2 at $20, lol. Not bad, frame lock that's a little hard to use because it is short, but I think it's roller bearings and a flat grind, great little knife for the price. Pocket clip is kind of sucky though. No idea what Titanium bonded D2 is though as it looks like stone washed D2. I have two Camillus D2 knives and they're inexpensive, but not cheaply made.

    • @NeevesKnives
      @NeevesKnives  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The titanium is a coating nothing special its just a coating that goes over steel no idea why it's named that, maybe to make you think there's something actually titanium somewhere lol

    • @MountainFisher
      @MountainFisher 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NeevesKnives On some of their other knives they call it Carbonitride Titanium which would be a tough coating, but it isn't like it's on the edge of the blade. Camillus is an old company, but it seems everything they make now is made in China, but they use Aus-8 in a few of their knives which I prefer over 8CrMoV, even though they're close to being the same steel Aus-8 is more consistent than 8CrMoV generally. Camillus also makes 6 models in VG-10 on their more expensive knives.

    A lot of great knife choices, but unfortunately because I live in Massachusetts, Amazon won't ship any of them to me. It's a strange situation because all these knives are legal to own and carry here in Massachusetts, but Massachusetts must have coerced Amazon, for some inexplicable reason, not to ship knives here. I like to use the links for knife purchases from channels I support, but I don't bother wirh Amazon anymore.

      @@BrandonGavin_EDC I rarely, if ever, buy knives from Amazon, but many of the knife reviewers I follow on TH-cam often include links to Amazon for the knives they review. I've noticed Amazon has become more restrictive in which knives they will ship into Mass. AO's and automatics were always restricted, but so were knives with flippers. Other one-hand openers were okay, but now it seems just about everything is banned, I don't believe there have been any recent changes in Mass. knife laws, so I tend to think the problem resides in large part with Amazon.

    You can find the Spyderco manix-2 standard model with CPM-S30V and G-10 handles on sale for less than $100. I bought my half serrated model for $72! and my fully honed edge model for $80!
    Still made right here on Earth, in the good old USA and it’s a damn good knife! That still means a lot to me.
    All those Chinese produced knives are nice but you can find many solid blades for good prices and that money goes into American pockets instead of the pockets of sworn enemies.
    Just saying.

      I mostly agree, for most Americans I would lovevthem to support usa products including knives, many Chinese made knives are companies owned by USA or designed by 🇺🇸 so a majority of the $ comes to the USA, it's nice to have 100% stay in the USA, but in many cases many parts are still bought overseas whether you know it or not, I'm a knife reviewer that reviews knives, 80% of all the knives on the planet are made overseas, many folks buy both, because they already have all the usa knives being collectors, many buy sell and trade them, buying knives from overseas isn't what's hurting our country it's way more than that. We are lucky to have knives still made in the usa

      Imo the Chinese designed and produced knives are in many cases sooo much better than what’s being designed and produced here.
      They are just killing us for the most part.
      Yes there are some awesome USA designed and produced knives but they’re few and far between and most are high end only propositions where as these Chinese knives are gorgeous and well made and coming in by the HUNDREDS!
      It’s a good thing and it’s a very very bad thing all at once.

      @holdernewtshesrearin5471 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Neeves Knives - true. It just seems the Asian designers are just killing it while the domestic designs just fall a little flat.
      And there’s only a few designs released each year from brands like ZT and Benchmade in particular. Spyderco releases a bunch of new designs usually but nothing like the deluge of absolutely awesome designs coming from China.
      All the US makers better get in the game!
