Well, you guys asked for it! Alive Reprise Hyde - Robert Cuccioli Recorded on 11.15.97 (November 15th, 1997), at the Plymouth Theatre, NYC. 1997 Original Broadway Cast
Oh my God. Cuccioli's Hyde. I just can't help but feel all unbearably warm and shivery when his voice slides down to that low, dangerous growl. I'm fairly sure he would have zero problem seducing me to the point where I didn't even remember my own name.
There are so many actors who take this role and just ham it up to disgusting degrees. Cuccioli's acting was magnificent. His Hyde was fearsome, powerful, and manipulative. And I absolutely love his voice. I've never heard another one like his -- It's got a certain raw quality to it, and it fits perfectly. Warlow has a phenomenal voice, but it's too "pretty," in my opinion.
"Predators live on the pray they persue-- this time, the predators ME!" I swear, when he sung that, he actually sounds possessed. Robert Cuccioli is THE Hyde, no doubt about it. Everything that he does is persise and done with perfection! The mark of a very talented actor and singer!
You know I never knew what the obsession was with Robert Cuccioli as Hyde. I thought Rob Evans was absolutely brilliant....... Then i got the original soundtrack with Cuccioli and absolutely fell in love with it. No one has pulled the sheer duality of the part as well as he has.
His voice is GORGEOUS in this video! especially in 1:31! I can't wait to see this in the UK Tour... it'll be interesting to see how Marti Pellow will take the role =]
The horrifying moment of Act I-The Bishop of Basingstoke is Hyde's first victim. First, beating him up with his swordstick that has a heavy pewter knob and then setting his body on fire! Definitely ny most favorite murder caseof this musical!
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS!!! NOW... I saw the original show, before it went to Broadway. It was dark, bloody & just the best possible version, ever! I have seen here on TH-cam, a few scenes from that 1st national tour, & what I REALLY NEED TO SEE AGAIN, would be the ORIGINAL "CONFRONTATION"! Anybody have this, & be willing to share it? I would be most grateful!
My friend has and always will hold over my head that he got to see the original broadway cast perform this :( Well I saw the play itself more than him so :P Yeah, he still beats me! Thanks - this is my fave musical. I hope they reprise it down the road. I would love to see it again.
It's amazing ! Robert Cucioli is the best Jekyll/Hyde, with Anthonny Warlow of course. Thank you again, because it's always a plaisure to see this actor playing in this playwright.
WOW! Guy!!! Your job with this play is really amazing. Who are you!?!? A producer!?!.... Nice to meet the Greatest J&H fan I've ever met. One of my dreams was to watch Robert perform this. Tank you again! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best Hyde EVER!!! Thanks & Congrats, my friend for upload this masterpiece.
Cuccioli's acting tends to be static at times , but the animation of his singing voice compensates tenfold for that. I must say he does a great job of looking truly menacing in this scene. Mastering the choreography with the cane is hard and usually looks fake, but Robert Cuccioli did it quite well. His movements were definite and effective, which definitely added to the horror factor of the scene.
I loved when he sang "Lust, like a raging desire, fills my whole soul with its curse. Burning with primitive fire, berserk and perverse" xD Yes, I know the lyrics very well. hehe...but still...woohoo
To each his own, I certainly don't begrudge you your opinion. Rob Evans seems more manic while Cuccioli is often eerily still. I personally find the stillness and the rawness of Cuccioli's voice more frightening, but a performance affects each person differently. However, I won't deny that Evan is wonderful. Basically anyone who did this role had to be fantastic with the notable exception of the Hoff. Basically, the whole point of this comment is that I'm sorry your had 9 thumbs down. :)
As much as I love Cuccioli's performance, he didn't pull this scene off very well. The singing but was amazing, as to be expected, but the build up when Hyde was talking to the bishop was not intimidating at all. He went through the dialogue far too quickly, there was no build up, no suspense. If he had been a little bit slower he would have been SOOO terrifying, especially with that nightmare fuel voice he does whenever he plays Hyde.
I dunno rob c is truly amazing, I do enjoy his performance a lot! I consider him one of the best but there is something about his hyde voice that throws me off sometimes. Like when talking in the very beginning his voice isn't too deep then he drops his voice like an octave at points and it seems strange or something. I mean for him to have that range is brilliant and amazing but it's just outta place to me.
Eggman now: a goofy ahh mad scientist who was originally going to be a teacher until he accidentally dropped a bowl of cereal in dirty concrete or something idk Eggman in the Sonic Bible: 0:48
I liked Hasslehoff because Robert Cuccioli straight up says the lines in a deep voice. But Hasselhoff sort of plays with the words more like and i like that alot
Going by the soundtrack of Cuccioli alone, I wasn't to impressed in comparison with Wilkinson and Warlow, but hearing him live like this, he sounds amazing (definitely better than Colm and about as good as Anthony).
omg they fixed the fight choregroaphy cuz here the bishop makes the slap noise but later on in the run he doesnt. and i hate how the bishop screams t the end. but cucciolli, flawless
I always find it really unfortunate that this show's undoing was a poorly written book (as is expected for Frank Wildhorn shows) and stunt casting. The songs and original performances are a true expeirence especially when you have someone like Rob Cuccioli or Rob Evan performing the roles because they melted into them to create something truly intense, moving, terrifying, and entertaining. Also, sorry for my hyper fanboy 13/14 year old self in my previous comments.
I can't get the vid to work- it keeps showing an error occurred (last night too)- and I've refreshed it like 20 times. Can you please reload this? :) Thanks!
+Lauren Faerber I gotta disagree. That show did have a lot of problems, but I personally thought that Constantine was absolutely amazing. If anything, they should've had Linda Eder come back rather than having Deborah Cox.
+ Jack Moody: Perhaps your right. I loved Constantine; but I just wish they kept the Confrontation the way it was in the original broadway production with the two sides fighting each other and such. But Yes; i agree with you too on Linda. I loved Deborahs' voice, but to be honest, I wish I could have seen Linda Eder more that role was written for her so
+Lauren Faerber while I do wish confrontation was kept the same, my main complaint with that song was the demonic warping around Hyde's voice. It was just a waste of Constantine's voice. As for Lucy, Deborah has a great voice for the part, but she's not a very good actress. When I watch her, I don't see Lucy, like I do with Linda. I just see a woman who's playing Lucy, you know what I mean?
Honestly, I would say that Constantine ties with Rob Evan for my favorite Jekyll and ties with Rob Cucciolli for my favorite Hyde (I don't count Warlow cause he never played the role onstage)
Dear god...why does Bob have to be so ....seducing when he's hyde?! Damn it Bob! *laughs* Oh, god. His voice is bone chilling. Do you have the first one when he emerges for the first time.
Cuccioli is amazing, but the bishop's a kinda lame faker. Cuccioli's pulling them too. Our rival school did Jekyll & Hyde this past year, which was quite distressing, cause its my favorite show, but Alive reprise was the best I've ever seen it.....
what is with everyone saying negative things about the guys who play hyde rob c rob evens and david hasselhoff were all amazaing sorry for the errors or if i am thinking another way but i like the,er proformances rob c,s was better though warlow was good but not as good as this

Eargasmic 😆
The way he screams “such a feeling of evil inside” is so beautifully horrific
Cuccioli’s a damn fine performer
This song is so much more terrifying seeing the actions that go with it.
I remember being a little teenage girl being blown away when I saw this on broadway. Robert Cuccioli & Linda Eder we so gracious and nice!!!!
There are so many actors who take this role and just ham it up to disgusting degrees. Cuccioli's acting was magnificent. His Hyde was fearsome, powerful, and manipulative.

My only problem with Cuccioli here is that sing the last "Hyde" high like Warlow did.
"Predators live on the pray they persue-- this time, the predators ME!"
I swear, when he sung that, he actually sounds possessed. Robert Cuccioli is THE Hyde, no doubt about it. Everything that he does is persise and done with perfection! The mark of a very talented actor and singer!
Anthony Warlow is the true Jekyll and Hyde.
@@KingNazaru He never even actually played him on stage😒
@@voiceinfestation3846 So? He was still the best.
@@KingNazaru sure best RECORDED but Rob c here
Best PERFORMED

Loveeeee when he sings "Name to remember" or something like that, I always get CHILLS since it's sooo awesome!!! His growl, even on the CD!! :D
I just love how Hyde gets more and more into it as he continues; he’s having so much fun, and that makes it scarier!
the end gives me chills.....

He. Is. AMAZING. THANK YOU for posting this!!!!!! I have him singing on my iPod, but sometimes that just isn't enough!
amen!!!! Cuccioli and Eder....the best ever!!!
My friend has and always will hold over my head that he got to see the original broadway cast perform this :( Well I saw the play itself more than him so :P Yeah, he still beats me!

I wish we could see Cuccioli in the full recorded video of "Murder! Murder!" Such a great song!
Best actor in the role!
Yay- I got it to work so I could see it. :)
He has such an amazing voice...
thanks again for posting. :)

So good! But I want the A at the end so badly..... you know he has it too!
Absolutely amazing and irreplaceable is another phrase to use for him :D.
Whao HYDE CHILL MAN
Hyde Said no.
uh oh from the camera's angle we can see that he actually isn't on fire :)
Robert is soooo amazing.
❤
@RosesNightengales Rob had been my 1st b4 I even liked the show, then I heard Hasslehoff in Alive, then I herd Rob, then Cuccioli. Soooo yeah.
I freakingly wanna be in the Bishops place when he slinks over to him.
I loved when he sang "Lust, like a raging desire, fills my whole soul with its curse. Burning with primitive fire, berserk and perverse" xD Yes, I know the lyrics very well. hehe...but still...woohoo
He's gone mad!
To each his own, I certainly don't begrudge you your opinion. Rob Evans seems more manic while Cuccioli is often eerily still. Wow!!!! Great voice!!! Rob C and Rob E should do a show together!!!!
I Love how slow the Tempo is in this song it sounds scary and sadistic
Where do you get a cape like that? Damn

I think my big complaint is the final note. The scene just seems a little anti climatic when he goes for the E instead of the A
@Broadwaypuppet Well Cuccioli had been my first hearing of J&H. And, I think he's a lot scarier. :3
Eggman now: a goofy ahh mad scientist who was originally going to be a teacher until he accidentally dropped a bowl of cereal in dirty concrete or something idk
Eggman in the Sonic Bible: 0:48
Why couldn't they film him instead?! O.O
@RosesNightengales Yeah. Either him or Evan (who I think is the BEST J&H EVER!)
Everyone who says that Robert Cuccioli is the best Hyde needs to watch Rob Evan and then decide..
@02shannon I watched Rob Evan perform a few songs here, and Cuccioli beats him hands down.
I liked Hasslehoff because Robert Cuccioli straight up says the lines in a deep voice. But Hasselhoff sort of plays with the words more like and i like that alot

Broadwaypuppet um i need to know i just listend to the soundtrack with this guy singing it and both sound off
To be honest, I think you should listen to Anthony Warlow's version, he is like 10 times better than any other J&H
StaryBlaze Entertainment fuck no i have heard his voice its fucking awful so fuck NO maroulis was better so fuck you
shadow strike I love you too m8
+shadow strike uhm... 8 moths ago you said Warlow was good and you don't get all the negativity. What made you change your mind?
I can't get the vid to work- it keeps showing an error occurred (last night too)- and I've refreshed it like 20 times. Can you please reload this? :)
Thanks!
Can you do a montage of this song with all the Bway J&H's?
unfortunately the angle ruins the fire part... of well. hyde was epic
if Only He was part of the 2012 show I would have loved it even more; but it was so shitty and I hated it.. -_- I love Bob so much he is my Hyde
+Lauren Faerber I gotta disagree. That show did have a lot of problems, but I personally thought that Constantine was absolutely amazing. If anything, they should've had Linda Eder come back rather than having Deborah Cox.

Understood (:
@caitlinjane92 True ;]
If he could only hit that A......
Andre Magalhaes there's another recording of him doing that
Better than Hasslehoff, less than Rob delivered, but stil REALLY GOOD!!!
Dear god...why does Bob have to be so ....seducing when he's hyde?! Damn it Bob! *laughs* Oh, god. His voice is bone chilling. Do you have the first one when he emerges for the first time.
1:31-1:34 LOL!
Mr. Hyde never frightens me, except the one from The Pagemaster.
Cuccioli is amazing, but the bishop's a kinda lame faker. Cuccioli's pulling them too. Our rival school did Jekyll & Hyde this past year, which was quite distressing, cause its my favorite show, but Alive reprise was the best I've ever seen it.....
what is with everyone saying negative things about the guys who play hyde rob c rob evens and david hasselhoff were all amazaing sorry for the errors or if i am thinking another way but i like the,er proformances rob c,s was better though
warlow was good but not as good as this
+shadow strike Totally agree. I do love Warlow, but I also love Cuccioli, Evan, Wagner (Chuck, not Jack), and Maroulis.
Jack Moody fuck you warlow sucks so fuck you
+shadow strike bro, calm the fuck down. I was agreeing with you, cause you straight up said that Warlow is good
Jack Moody i changed my mind after seeing that he is not he sucks he can,t sing so anyone who likes him is my enemy so piss off
***** how bout no . Constantine was the better singer and actor warlow SUCKS AND CAN,T SING
and today's gender is: this specific video
