@shortyxlo7 hahaha no, im actually a university student. In high school, I used to print out Lupe song lyrics and try to break them down when I was bored in class. And the old Lupe Fiasco forums helped a lot when I got stuck. So these newer tracks im not too knowledgeable in! So always feel free to correct me/add your own findings in the comments
I believe that the line... "Next up is crustaceans and fast food halals The beef is all the same, its just how they kill the cows" is a little nod towards the 'beef' between rappers being 'all the same' and how rappers might be killed in different ways (shot, stabbed, etc), as 'cows' is just a metaphor for rappers. And it is beautifully juxtaposed with the halal meat understanding since the only way halal meat differs from non-halal meat is how you kill the animal. But I could be gassing...?
exactly! its a metaphorical rollercoaster no matter how many times you ride the ride it always feels new...every time i listen to the song i hear something new. you gotta love lupe man
Only issue I see is the line" I ain't doing numbers like Amazon. The correct line is "I ain't doing numbers Anbesol." Anbesol is a topical ointment for tooth pain. It numbs the area of application..........its a "numb-er" it also is one of the best selling products so it "does numbers" too. Lu is incredible.
When he says "copped it from Platinum" he's talking about Platinum Motorsports in LA where currently resides. I saw it in a DUB magazine he was on the cover on. Also love the channel.
Really??? OMS I just found a new love and respect for Lupe! WOW!! This is why he is my Fav. Rapper since 2pac N Biggie. Respect to all the LASERS! We are...SLR
I like the pictures format better, it helps me a lot trying to pick up all the bits and pieces of info. Since there's a ton of info going super quick. No matter which format, I will stay subscribed haha.
The part where it's talking about an unfinished roof could also be talking about the Florence cathedral, which sat domeless for almost a century, if not longer when his design was deemed to grand to finish without bruttresses. first started by Arnolfo di Cambio and then Finally finished by fillippo Burnelleschi. Being an art major has its perks! But i never want to spew that much art history ever again! lol
must have it's sunny sides being art major tho . typical Italians always drawing grand plans then have Iil tiff and leave for someone eles to put the finishing touches to it.
@TimesNuRoman To answer your question, I personally would prefer the pictures with the vids. As a visual learner. But either way it's cool. I'd like to meet you in person so I could shake your hand and thank you for all of these breakdowns. Before I was a huge fan of Lupe, even when I didn't understand alot of what he was saying because I still knew it was profound. But now that I get what Lu has been saying all this time thanks to you, I am now a fanatic.
@TimesNuRoman I think for "Switch" this style was awesome, but I like the pictures too, perhaps some kind of mixture of the two? I think it's awesome you do these, can I make some requests?: "Streets on Fire" "The Instrumental" "Put You On Game" "American Terrorist" "BMF" "Hurt Me Soul" "Dynasty Freestyle" and "The Cool" would be my wish list (some have been done, but I'd like to see your take on them) Peace!!
I'm so sober when I speak, I call it catching bullets with my teeth (I have listened to this song maybe 100 times and just caught that that line is about not taking shots of liquor. Who else says stuff like that?
Very good video I am truly a fan of them, you describe them very well however this song is riddled with even more tidbits of random connections. One major thing I noticed is he actually says "I ain't doing numbers like Anbesol." Anbesol numbs your teeth, lol. Amazing metaphor.
i think it would be good to combine this format with pictures, maybe in general this format (scrolling lyrics in the middle, short explanations popping up on the side) but with pictures also popping up on the side with the explanations when necessary
Well, this is merely a fraction, maybe 20-30% of what Lu is actually saying, because there are much more double and triple entendres and just obscure references, puns, messages etc. in conjunction of the lyrics or merely implied - I'm not mad though, the breakdown is still dope, it's just impossible to do a full breakdown alone and without massive walls of text. xD One simple example Ruthless / Roofless not only refers to the SLR mercedes, but also to Lupe himself, he still has room to grow.
I like the part when he says, "words in line of mine I feel are better than every rap in the world combined" and then it's like a bomb goes off. My nigga Lupe is a fuckin beast!
omg where have I been wtf this track is bananas I wish lasers was filled wit tracks like this . I feel like I'm falling off, can anybody tell me are there more tracks like this, I between "the cool" release and now
@TimesNURoman You have some of the interpretations of his lyrics right but some wrong. Because of that you're Misinterpreting the overall message. Example SLR doesn't Mercedes Bens- SLR but it does mean Super Lupe Raper. But for the context of this song it mean SLR-type of camera lense.(I can see in Clarity).
I always thought that last line was a subliminal to Gucci, cuz Gucci always talking about farrari's, and going back to how this song is named after a Lambo, I Figured Lupe was gonna make another song aimed at Gucci lol
See the thing about lyricists like Nas and Lupe they are so above the game that general people don't understand what the hell they are talking about. But they talk with a base knowledge. If you don't study African history written by African then you will never know the truth.
defeat ur purpose like a weed stash in the rehab. ok this is a double entendre. he's defeating your purpose whatever neferious plot this may be, similar to some1 bringing weed into rehab, you're defeating the purpose, as the saying goes
Guess we'll just disagree there. I think it's light-years better than anything since Lasers, and it's more consistent than The Cool (the cool had better good songs, but it also had some whack tracks).
I wish Lupe would do more punchline rapping. His new shit is wack as fuck. Most of FOTP and Lasers was pop garbage. He shouldn't be wasting his talent like that.
@shortyxlo7 hahaha no, im actually a university student. In high school, I used to print out Lupe song lyrics and try to break them down when I was bored in class. We miss you champion
Salute to you 💯💯
You're a legend man.
I would pay money for more of your videos lol
Need you to do more Lupe Breakdowns and some Aesop Rock too
I believe that the line...
"Next up is crustaceans and fast food halals
The beef is all the same, its just how they kill the cows"
is a little nod towards the 'beef' between rappers being 'all the same' and how rappers might be killed in different ways (shot, stabbed, etc), as 'cows' is just a metaphor for rappers.
And it is beautifully juxtaposed with the halal meat understanding since the only way halal meat differs from non-halal meat is how you kill the animal.
But I could be gassing...?
You Absolutely right
That Class of 1995 got me running back my old favorites!!!
game over, BODY PARTS!!!.. might be one of the hardest exit lines ever.
You knew exactly what he meant by it. The song is over and I destroyed it to pieces smh
exactly! its a metaphorical rollercoaster no matter how many times you ride the ride it always feels new...every time i listen to the song i hear something new. you gotta love lupe man
Only issue I see is the line" I ain't doing numbers like Amazon.
The correct line is "I ain't doing numbers Anbesol."

Lu is incredible.
holy crap Ive never caught that!!
+blkenuf to be honest it could be interpreted both ways so its a bigger entendre
blkenuf that's connected with catching bullets with his teeth wtf
Double entendre. Amazon/Ambesol. I love you for all these break downs.
Sorry its not a very colourful one. Do you guys like this format, or is it better with the pictures+videos? Feedback!
He was so swaggy on this “words and lines of mines I feel are better than every rap in the world combined” 💯💯💯💯
When he says "copped it from Platinum" he's talking about Platinum Motorsports in LA where currently resides. I saw it in a DUB magazine he was on the cover on. Also love the channel.
TimeNuRoman your consistently sharp with the lupe's breakdowns and being a lupe fan i like its dope with the pictures and videos format.
The most lyrical song ever that doesn’t have a real meaning behind what the lines say. Lu is in Super Saiyan mode on this thanks to Soulja Boy lol
Really??? OMS I just found a new love and respect for Lupe! WOW!! This is why he is my Fav. Rapper since 2pac N Biggie. Respect to all the LASERS! We are...SLR
I love the Mortal Kombat reference at the end. Favorite Game + Favorite rapper = Best way to spend a weekend.
Timesnuroman thanks for what you are doing I always look forward to these videos!
I like the pictures format better, it helps me a lot trying to pick up all the bits and pieces of info. Since there's a ton of info going super quick.
No matter which format, I will stay subscribed haha.
this mans mind works at another level must've done a lot of reading growing up
Lol, this is pretty cool Idea, hats off to you for making these videos.

I can only reply with lol....
must have it's sunny sides being art major tho . typical Italians always drawing grand plans then have Iil tiff and leave for someone eles to put the finishing touches to it.
Barkley vs oakley
YOU SIR ARE A GENIUS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK I THOUGHT I GOT WHAT HE MEANT BUT YOU JUST MADE IT CLEAR LOL
@TimesNuRoman To answer your question, I personally would prefer the pictures with the vids. As a visual learner. But either way it's cool. Man thanks these videos are awesome
@TimesNuRoman I don't think this song in particular needed pictures, but the pictures helped me a lot with your "Lupe the Killer" breakdown.
lupe brings a whole new level of rapping to the table..omfg
@TimesNuRoman I think for "Switch" this style was awesome, but I like the pictures too, perhaps some kind of mixture of the two?
I think it's awesome you do these, can I make some requests?: "Streets on Fire" "The Instrumental" "Put You On Game" "American Terrorist" "BMF" "Hurt Me Soul" "Dynasty Freestyle" and "The Cool" would be my wish list (some have been done, but I'd like to see your take on them)
Peace!!
SLR 10-4.. an slr 104 series is a series of automatic machine guns.. ties in later when he says automatic weapons keep the same rhythm he has
Correction: 4:03 "I ain't doing numbers like Anbesol"
I am do glad i found you
AAHH I BEEEN WAITING ON THIS
Added to favorites. Because oh my freaking holy snap.
Thank you for that interpretation. How dope is Lupe when you need an interpreter?
I'm so sober when I speak, I call it catching bullets with my teeth (I have listened to this song maybe 100 times and just caught that that line is about not taking shots of liquor. Who else says stuff like that?
52 likes 0 dislikes. Clean.
Very good video I am truly a fan of them, you describe them very well however this song is riddled with even more tidbits of random connections. One major thing I noticed is he actually says "I ain't doing numbers like Anbesol." Anbesol numbs your teeth, lol. Amazing metaphor.
love thus song i listen to this every day lupe ur the best
I know one that must be breakdowned simply because verses are so genius! Glory!
Great vid. I'd like to point out something though. It's "I ain't doing numbers like anbesol" -Anbesol is a numbing product for tooth aches.
i think it would be good to combine this format with pictures, maybe in general this format (scrolling lyrics in the middle, short explanations popping up on the side) but with pictures also popping up on the side with the explanations when necessary
oh wow he went all the way in on this yeah he hold it down for hip hop
Damn boss, you understand the level he's on.
Well, this is merely a fraction, maybe 20-30% of what Lu is actually saying, because there are much more double and triple entendres and just obscure references, puns, messages etc. in conjunction of the lyrics or merely implied - I'm not mad though, the breakdown is still dope, it's just impossible to do a full breakdown alone and without massive walls of text. xD
One simple example Ruthless / Roofless not only refers to the SLR mercedes, but also to Lupe himself, he still has room to grow.
Lupe murked the 2nd verse. Like this has to be the most lyrical song ever, and how he dissed Soulja Boy in one line.
So dope.
3 : 23 conscious rappers lil wayne. I dont care for comparisons, but I am a pioneer not a parody. That was a direct diss to lil wayne imo. Great Job!
Lupe is the G.O.A.T
I like the part when he says, "words in line of mine I feel are better than every rap in the world combined" and then it's like a bomb goes off. My nigga Lupe is a fuckin beast!
... hes COVERED in ice HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG how did i not catch that... thats so sick. i think i got a fever
omg where have I been wtf this track is bananas I wish lasers was filled wit tracks like this . I feel like I'm falling off, can anybody tell me are there more tracks like this, I between "the cool" release and now
@Creativematrix1 sorry I need to read on.....for the most part this is 100% correct. I retract my previous statement. Lupe is a MONSTER!!
@TimesNuRoman "Cause the world is mine" I was wondering if this is a possible reference to Nas- The World Is Yours?
@TimesNuRoman pictures and videos!! your awesome man
keep it up
That was well-said, thanks!
good for you man.
2: 55 its more than just a pause and a chuckle. Yeah thats a definate insult to Drake and Wayne and I'm glad he said it!
These dude writes 4 dimensional rubic’s cubes and we’re analyzing them with 2.5 dimensional vision
@TimesNuRoman Well for me, I think this fine. But for songs like 'lupe the killer' it would be go to have pics with them
So not only is the song full of double and triple entendres the title of the song is also one too..... I believe, Lupe's on some GOD type shit...
maybe im just dumb/lazy but i like the pictures
I always thought that last line was a subliminal to Gucci, cuz Gucci always talking about farrari's, and going back to how this song is named after a Lambo, I Figured Lupe was gonna make another song aimed at Gucci lol
@Joestrummer1988 Agreed
I'd love to see slr2
@DubZero123 excellent, my feelings exactely, if there was an occupation for this line of work TimesNRoman would be the founder-peace
do one for lupe's new song light work
@Legendaryphoenix14 greatest of all time
@felixdljkra Most definitely
What other songs you break down like this?
wow
It's doing "numbers like anbesol" not amazon. It's a numbing medication... Get it numb-er.... You're welcome
@GetMoneyDaily yeah Failure went hard to, but im just saying how his wordplay, and how he just put all these things together, its genius as hell lol.
was this video really needed? Im mean who didnt get the punch lines without this breakdown?
Finally admits it ;)
and here i am spittin the entire song on the street like a fool...i gotta start going in depth more :\
Did he get to Drogas Wave yet
finally admitted it LMAO
i aint doin "NUMB"ers like Ambesol. I also thought game over - body parts was a reference to saw but they both work.
Hahaha fucking hell. So good
fuc yea
@ImDuhhBest And I will more often now. Before then I had never heard about that website
i just wanna know what goat is at 3:00
See the thing about lyricists like Nas and Lupe they are so above the game that general people don't understand what the hell they are talking about. But they talk with a base knowledge. If you don't study African history written by African then you will never know the truth.
do "JEDI MIND TRICKS" PLEASE!!!!
Nice!
I don't much like this song, more to do with the beat then Lupe or your awesome break down.
whats the top five goat google is hiding it from me :( or who else is in it ?
"a self imposed..."
@TimesNuRoman "Word's and lines of mine, i feel are better than every rapper(rap) in the world combined. missed it
I prefer the pictures
@Legendaryphoenix14 Greatest of all time with only two albums. (Top 5 alive and I only have 2 Out)
I don't mind reading a lot, but the font of the lyrics themselves feels a little nautiating, great work otherwise, though ! Thanks again !
defeat ur purpose like a weed stash in the rehab. ok this is a double entendre. he's defeating your purpose whatever neferious plot this may be, similar to some1 bringing weed into rehab, you're defeating the purpose, as the saying goes
Mos Def is an amazing rapper but was much better with his first few albums than his newer one's as he got stale and lost things to say.
Fare well Lupe . This song is the eve of the best of Lupe exit . The begin of the end .
MrJayvigor Curious what you think of Tetsuo and Youth, now that it's out and it isn't anywhere near as bad as what he's done since this stuff.
In terms of Lupe albums it ain't dat good . I still think he's declining .
Guess we'll just disagree there.
I think it's light-years better than anything since Lasers, and it's more consistent than The Cool (the cool had better good songs, but it also had some whack tracks).
Food and Liquor too ?
Oh, hell no. F&L is still his best album, as far as I'm concerned.
@DubZero123 bro use rapgeniusdotcom
Damn, "a conscious rapping Lil Wayne" ...what could have been if Wayne was...
I wish Lupe would do more punchline rapping. His new shit is wack as fuck. Most of FOTP and Lasers was pop garbage. He shouldn't be wasting his talent like that.
