From Nz he looks every bit the modern breakaway, he dies look small, but he can tackle, break tackles, steal the ball at rucks, run and oass well. He is off to South Africa imho
@@migsg7238 yeh its a bit like wrestler billed weight. Ive seen him talked of as being 6' 1" and 103 kgs. Your 5' 11 looks more like it, McCaw finished at 110kgs and was always around 6' 3" i think. But the point is he looks a very good player and i think will be in the lion's

He has huge upper body strength and his (slightly) shorter height makes him immovable if he gets his hands on a ball at a break down. I also don't recall ever seeing him have a bad game. I'd take him if he was 5ft 1. (not just because I'm a Scot).
Edinburgh are rubbish this season. i'm not really sure why tbh, cos they still have most of the same squad that has done well in Europe in recent seasons and got to the play offs in the league the season before.

He was massive for us this tournament, but personally i don't even think he was our best player never mind player of the tourny. Hogg carried the team on his back and Duhan arguably had a better 6 nations than Watson. Beirne would've been my pick though. He looked like a better player than Itoje in every facet of the game and I hope he replaces Itoje when the lions team gets called up
After watching Watson play he's become one of my favourite players (I'm a SA fan). He isn't very talented, fast or big, but he is the definition of player with heart.

No he wasn't. Duhan had some defensive lapses. Watson had 0. He had a 100% tackle completion rate, won turnovers and did the hard carries. The only player in discussion for a better 6N? Fickou.
There were better (more deserving) players that should've gotten this accolade. Mediocre opposition will always make a good player look exceptional. That said: Congrats to him. He's grown on me quite a bit since I started watching NH rugby. (Can't say I was too impressed with the overall quality of rugby though...but I guess growing up watching NZ rugby will do that to a person.)
At this stage I don't really rate any of the NH teams as "great". They were all pretty much in the same ballpark -which is why so many of those games were so close. (Obviously this excludes Italy -no offense to Italy.) The best thing that could / can happen to NH rugby (and the worst thing for NZ rugby) is for the SA'n teams to join up north. Ever wonder why the All Blacks became *that* good? SAn rugby. They developed their fast-paced-skill-based style because they simply couldn't out-muscle the SA'ns. I mean, the AB's hadn't played SA for a year and then went on to lose to ARG. ( I'm sort of joking, but also sort of not :-) ) Off-topic and all just my opinion, of course...but watch this space :-) That doesn't mean I did not enjoy watching the 6 Nations, though. I really wanted Scotland to win the comp. (I think Duhan should've gotten this prize. Most tries and breaking a 20 year Brian O'Driscoll record...all on debut? That's special. Hogg hardly got a sniff of the ball against ireland. Keenan was excellent through the 6 nations and also outshone hogg with leinster v Exeter.
