Kaya bows are actually used on Chorean Archery Schools.
In a vid from one Chorean Archery School, they explained:
In competitions they normally use a real horn bow, of this style,
but for training in the school, they use Kaya bows, with carbon...
Still, a few, also use Kaya carbon bows for the competitions...
They shoot 145 meters, in training and in competitions...
Another vid from Chorea said: In Chorea the people never stopped shooting bows,
so they have the "unbroken line of archery techniques", from the "Stone Age Hunters"...
Unlike many other nations, in which archery was banned for a few centuries,
one or several times, "after a new King had invaded, and had taken the power"...
Then it was simply ilegal to make and own any kind of weapons,
so only "the kings' men" and his army, were armed...
But a few centuries later, the people no longer "protested the rulership",
and then archery, was again allowed...
However, then most had forgotten "the old ways, from their own nation", and needed to "revive archery"...
Often by reading books from other nations...
Even when Chorea has the "unbroken line of archery", they use several different ways of doing the kathra (khastra),
and some use the "STRING TWIST" too...
While drawing the string, the string hand is rotated, so the thumb press the string to the right, below the arrow,
and the "first bone" on the pointer finger, near the "root joint", press the string to the left, above the arrow...
    So the string "zig-zag"...
You need to keep a good distance, between the arrow and the fingers,
so the thumb is almost two cm below, and the root of the pointer finger press in the same distance above...
Then the arrow nock is "in line with the string"...
While the middle of the pointer finger, press lightly to the arrow, to keep it in place on the bow...
And it is the "Long Finger" which assists the thumb, by pressing on its tip...
Then it looks like the pointer finger "just lay relaxed, down over the thumb".
Then they have a leather (skin) protection "glove", which only covers the "the root joint" of the pointer finger,
where it press hard to the string, and the finger, out till the "first joint", where the string slides, against the finger...
I simply made a "skin ring", 2 cm wide, from front to rear, with a piece of 4 by 2,5 cm thick leather sewn on, and that works perfectly...
The stiches through the leather, goes in and comes out, on the "under side side",
by simply bending the leather strip, while pressing the straight needle though,
so no thread comes to the upper side, where the string will slide over it...
Without that protection, it HURTS, when the string slide along the pointer finger...
The "string twist", hinders, that the thumb push the string and arrow, to the right side,
after which, it will bounce back, passing "neutral" and comes to the left side,
and will come closer to the bow, while passing...
That "starts the fishtailing motion", but when using proper string twisting,
the arrow leaves the bow, totally straight...
You can best see the result, when practising, only 2 meter from the target...
While doing the string twist, they also use the "forward kathra",
and the "wrist jerk" to the left...
But I saw none, who "assisted the sideways Khastra (Kathra)",
by "trowing the string hand back, to point to the rear"...
When "forcing the string hand fast back, in an arch, to the rear",
you force the bow arm and hand a bit to the left...
That is obviously "not needed", when performing the basic kathra correctly...
While "forward kathra" CAN be enough, to avoid the arrow hits the bow,
and is "most easy to learn", then the "wrist jerk" is much harder to learn,
and both techniques, can only be done well, with short and lightweight bows...
But the "string twist", can be done on any bow, if you draw with the thumb...
In theory, you can also make a "string twist", when shooting with three fingers,
in which case, you shall press the thumb hard, against the string, above the arrow...
Then you might draw with the three fingers under the arrow,
and press the thumb hard against the string, above the arrow...
Again, "keep a distance to the arrow end", like 1,5 or 2 two cm from it...
Armin has shown the "string twist", but did not explain "why it works"...
Using an efficiant Khastra, is even more important on the traditional Chorean bows,
as they have a wider "arrow pass", than most other "Asian bows"...
And also have a rather low string height..
Greetings and thanks, to you, Armin, for spreading the knowledge,
about traditional "Asian Archery", and for all your fine bow reviews...
I will suggest, you make a new vid, about Khastra, (Kathra),
and explain to all, "why the String Twist helps"...
Note: Khastra / Kathra, simply means "cast throw", said as "Cast'thro", meaning "cast shot"...
Like "Siyahs" simply means "The Ears", said as "Th'ears"...
Kind regards to you, and all,
    from Dan in Denmark

I have hardly slept, but watching your videos are full of emotion and give you a new day full of adventures, Korean Bows are one on my list but for now I can't mention at home I want to buy.😁 KAYA's are very efficient and fast, well, that's what I see from the videos of some good friends. The one you used is very fun to use for practice and not get so tired. Thanks for another video.😀 We love to see you shoot.🎯Cheers🙏

I have a #50 Wind Fighter and it's pretty great. At first I was a bit unsure about the modern aesthetics of the bow but it grew on me, and how it feels when you shoot it is the important thing anyway. Even at #50 it feels lighter than my other #40 bows, I do find it a bit tricky to string though, very recommended.

Nice shooter it's one now I haven't added to my collection yet. I think I'd go with the 52" model so I could get the 32.5" draw length. They seem quite reliable they shoot these bows all over the world and you don't hear much about delaminations just limb twist. I think it would be a great comparison to see which style of bows are more efficient than the other. They say Korean style bows are alot like shooting a Crimean tartar style bow. Thanks for the review my friend. Hopefully my wiggly bow will be here today we'll see. Thank you Armin!

After seeing your review I found the KTB (Leather wrapped) 55# at 31" for under $130. As you say, a very nice surprisingly good shooter:
no stacking, smooth draw and accurate. I'm not that fond of the Korean grip but it works well. You do have to be careful when stringing.

I just love my Kaya bows. I've got a Windfighter(50", 45#) and a KTB Carbon(48", 50#). This week I get a 53" and 35# KTB from Nomad. They are damn fast, easy to draw and durable.
Mediterranean is possible, but in my experience I would say only for 50" bows or longer. I think a 48" hurts while drawing 3 fingers. I simply shoot them with the thumb. Easy peasy😉

I think korean manufactured bows in general are often made with good production control and good quality/durability of the lamination technology, but perhaps not always with the very best finish. One thing that I found a bit difficult with the Korean bow is the zone where the arrow passes, they usually wrap a piece of leather so that the arrow does not damage the bow, but the leather does not last very long...Traditionally the Koreans shoot with the technique that ''flips" the bow to the side to let the arrow passing, so that there is very little friction between the arrow and the leather. This technique is not very easy to master for beginners and its influence to accuracy is debatable. Otherwise, one must consider buying arrows with the correct deflection versus draw weight so that the arrow does not deflect too much during its initial flight stage, or wrap some other abrasion resistant material on top of the leather.

    Hi Armin,
Can you do a comparo between AliBow’s Segye bow 45 lbs 43 inches vs Daylite Monarq (or Phoenix) 45 lbs @ 44 inches.
I know youre partial to the Chinese-made Segye, but now a Korean made contender showed up.
(Side note: I just sold a brand new Segye... I could pull a 55lbs! I normally shoot recurves 56” 58” 60” 62”.... but I know Segye is a shorter stick.
    Thanks

The limbs are pure fiberglass? Do they function/feel more like fiberblass asiatics or laminated asiatics?

I really don't like the design, look too much modern, doesn't fit with the design of the grip. Incredible how the design of an asian bow is important for me.
