One more thing is the courts and arenas look so much better than 2k's. On 2k the arenas are dark as hell and the courts look so trash, barely any lighting at all
Glo'ed Up I did that back on 2k17 lol the arena lighting to me is just horrible honestly. Every arena is mad dark and can only see like the first 5/6 rows into the crowd. The court colors are trash compared to live. Like for example look at how the texture is on the Portland court and how well the arena and floor is lit up. Then go look at the same arena on 2k. Live blows them out the water when it comes to that stuff

This won't matter to some people. For others that are on the fence this may make the decision a little easier. I purchased both games this year for the xbox one. I was able to get a factory sealed copy of NBA Live 18 for 29.75 on ebay. 2K18 it's hard to find a copy for less than like 47 bucks on there. EA games tend to always have more discounted copies in circulation. So this is something else to take into consideration if price in any way factors into your final decision.
Live needs to improve on commentary and presentation the nba finals should not feel like a regular game but it is fun i also absoulutely love how they have playoff shirts its not just raptors playoffs its small but i like it
I've had both games. 2k first (pre ordered) and then live after release. I've deffinenitly have had way more fun in the live career mode than 2k cringy ass cut scenes.

Great video man! You mentioned the Pro-Am objectives. I don't mind the challenges like the rebounds as a PG but for one I had to dunk and my guy literally can't dunk. I finally had to create another player and redo the Pro-Am to get past it. I wish it could be either tailored more to your position or at least for sure attainable for everyone.
VC should only be for accessories, and MyTeam. Instead of VC to upgrade your player, it should be skill points like how it is if you play mycareer offline. But you should also still earn vc as well after games

Also Salary is easier to work with in Live. The cap of both teams update during negotiations where with 2K it just says what the cap space is for total instead of updating as players are added to the deal. Live you can see exactly how much more you need to add or subtract to make a legal trade

I love Lives Art style. It really simulates getting actual run IRL. but they need to focus on animations and signature styles next year. They also need to focus on better body builds the big men look like body builders. Plus their feet are too small in some shoes it looks like you’re wearing girl shoes. Lastly better hairstyles and clothes. Everyone wears shorts in Live because the pants are like bell bottoms. Make some skinny jeans and joggers for us. Look up the styles and trends heavy for young people now. What makes 2k so good is that they are heavy on that with the dance taunts being mo cap so they look smooth and real. That’s all I can think of at the moment tho, other than that it’s fun. Edit: NBA Live has far superior face scans. NBA 2k has your face looking lightskin and grimy. NBA live Companion app has an easier interface and its extremely realistic.

Their presentation is good but the commentary takes a lot out of nba live. You can totally tell they're reading a script. At least in 2K they sound like they really just talking about shit instead of sounding like a robot & reading off a script. The thing I really agree with 200% is the updating players. I'm a offline basketball player & I love playing with nba players instead of playing with a created player & honestly updating players is a huge thing that needs to be done all year long. I feel like 2K just got more money or something than Live so their quality and graphics are always better. I feel like Live is clearly the better basketball game overall. Live is evidently more creative, more passionate and more concerned, far more than 2K is. They give us thorough presentation and process all the time. Live literally has ESPN. You can alter quick game settings to be a Finals game atmosphere. The crowd's energy is much more potent. 2K is more concerned with bringing Life to the game while Live has always been focused on bringing the game to Life. 2K stole us from Live with that Jordan shit, and waited until Live's worst game EVER. 😭😭😭 they put their VERY best efforts into 2K11, it was amazing. And they been steadily disappointing me since, to say the least. 2K18 is good but it's still flawed in many ways. The only reason I play 2K over Live is because of the gameplay itself. The players look and move much better and more realistically than Live's players. On Live, whoever touches the rebound first is getting it, I don't like that. On 2K, they literally fight for the ball on the rebound and in many other scenarios as well, that's big for me. The contact dunks is nasty as fuck, I Love that. Of course the array of moves, shots, dunks/layups, etc. is a huge plus. But I'm the kinda person that likes to feel like I'm IN the game. When my player score, I wanna get hype, too. I wanna see my Nigga shine on TV, I wanna see/hear what the media thinks about my player in ANALYTICAL form, fuck them dumb ass tweets, it's always the same stuff. 2K even be running out of endorsements in the first season, the fuck. Live is much more detailed, as far as BASKETBALL. I didn't come to a BASKETBALL game for Niggas on Snapchat during timeouts and somebody singing every game. They could've at least change the voices to seem like different singers, AT LEAST that. That weak ass Pregame/Halftime/Postgame presentation, I don't even be watching it 80% of the time. If Live and 2K were to get together one year and one year only, I think that'll be the best sports game to ever exist, hands-down. 2K's graphics and gameplay with Live's concepts, presentation, and it's ESPN deal. I know that's gone be hard. Sadly we'll never be blessed with such a treat. 2K just has better gameplay, that's it. They devote all of their efforts to making the game like Life. In no way shape or form is NBA Live 18 better than NBA 2K18. 2K is still the premier franchise and has been for a while now. It has fluent animations, beautiful graphics, and excellent modes that will always be there for the next release to keep you occupied. But what 2K lacks is the fun factor. Gone is grinding to progress and instead you are forced to pay for VC. Some people love to spend real money on VC, but other gamers prefer to grind and that’s difficult to do in 2K nowadays. It’s fine with the cosmetics, but even then they are still going overboard with that concept. Live allows you to grind and have fun progressing your player. And ironically, EA isn’t cramming micro transactions down your throat. The animations on Live aren’t fluent and the gameplay isn’t as smooth as 2K, but this game is showing that EA can still produce a decent basketball game for a more casual gamer base and for those who prefer something other than 2K. I give Live 18 a 7/10. I want it to be more than just a grinder’s paradise and there are game modes that draw my attention, but ones I’ve been used to in Madden and 2K like Franchise fails in that aspect in Live. WNBA is fun, but I wish they made more out of it instead of exhibition. I love how they update player looks and I love the determination. EA isn’t ready to give up on Live and I hope I don’t have to either.

VC..like me, I work, overtime, and say you've got a girl, or girls, you'll be a casual gamer by default due to spare time constraints. but if say you have mad time, comfort of parent's house, all bills & food paid, yes you have time to grind grind grind. I don't, so if I can shortcut & just pay for something via VC/DLC, I will. the grinders don't understand working class spare time. but 2K gets it
1st of all the picture you used says it all. Live doesn't do the most important thing that 2k gets 1000% better than Live 18. Realistic 5 on 5 NBA gameplay. All the cutscenes, updates, park play, clothes, hair cuts, halftime shows, etc doesn't hide that fact. Live 18 ain't even better than NBA 2k11.
Lets be real: Live 18 is really bad. HOWEVER, it did to a couple things well and has been decently successful, so maybe they'll build on that success, fix the gameplay (which is the only really horrible aspect of the game) and release a good basketball game that can rival 2k.

I grew up playing live didn't start playing 2k units kobe was on the cover and all I played was my player. I finally started to play 2k my league mode in 2k14 and I was blown away by the gameplay. People can trash Live all they want, I played the 10 hour demo for the first time since Live 08 and it's alot closer than people think. It's not there yet, but it's close enough that it might get interesting soon. I just REALLY hope EA doesn't fuck it up with pay to win.
If live could get rid of some of the same animations it has since 2005 (pump fake is exactly the same), I would definitely buy it. Honestly, I'm not good enough for the complex 2k iso controls (or whatever are called all the cool stuff done with the right stick)

Gameplay is horrible and choppy on Live. There is no question that gameplay and gameplay feel is WAY better than live. 2k is smoother, and graphics are way better. Controls are way better. Sure, live might have better cut scenes and menus and shit, but who gives a fuck about any of that shit? Lol
NBA Live player movement is too slow. Shot release speed is realistic but attacking the rim seems sluggish. All the "great presentation" shit is just EA looking at how NFL 2K flipped the script on Madden.
Sure NBA live is good but it's still an EA game and eventually EA will stop making a quality game and will try to shove a piece of shit down your throat. This game right here is good just too hook you in. But once you start to fall in love with the franchise that's when they start charging you money and giving you have finished games. The court colors are trash compared to live. Like for example look at how the texture is on the Portland court and how well the arena and floor is lit up. Then go look at the same arena on 2k. This won't matter to some people. For others that are on the fence this may make the decision a little easier. I purchased both games this year for the xbox one. I was able to get a factory sealed copy of NBA Live 18 for 29.75 on ebay. 2K18 it's hard to find a copy for less than like 47 bucks on there. EA games tend to always have more discounted copies in circulation. So this is something else to take into consideration if price in any way factors into your final decision.

I finally had to create another player and redo the Pro-Am to get past it. I wish it could be either tailored more to your position or at least for sure attainable for everyone.

I love Lives Art style. It really simulates getting actual run IRL. but they need to focus on animations and signature styles next year. They also need to focus on better body builds the big men look like body builders. Plus their feet are too small in some shoes it looks like you’re wearing girl shoes. Lastly better hairstyles and clothes. Everyone wears shorts in Live because the pants are like bell bottoms. Make some skinny jeans and joggers for us. Look up the styles and trends heavy for young people now. What makes 2k so good is that they are heavy on that with the dance taunts being mo cap so they look smooth and real. That’s all I can think of at the moment tho, other than that it’s fun.
Edit: NBA Live has far superior face scans. NBA 2k has your face looking lightskin and grimy. NBA live Companion app has an easier interface and its extremely realistic.

I feel like 2K just got more money or something than Live so their quality and graphics are always better. I feel like Live is clearly the better basketball game overall. Live is evidently more creative, more passionate and more concerned, far more than 2K is. They give us thorough presentation and process all the time. Live literally has ESPN. You can alter quick game settings to be a Finals game atmosphere. The crowd's energy is much more potent. 2K is more concerned with bringing Life to the game while Live has always been focused on bringing the game to Life. 2K stole us from Live with that Jordan shit, and waited until Live's worst game EVER. 😭😭😭 they put their VERY best efforts into 2K11, it was amazing. And they been steadily disappointing me since, to say the least. 2K18 is good but it's still flawed in many ways. The only reason I play 2K over Live is because of the gameplay itself. The players look and move much better and more realistically than Live's players. On Live, whoever touches the rebound first is getting it, I don't like that. On 2K, they literally fight for the ball on the rebound and in many other scenarios as well, that's big for me. The contact dunks is nasty as fuck, I Love that. Of course the array of moves, shots, dunks/layups, etc. is a huge plus. But I'm the kinda person that likes to feel like I'm IN the game. When my player score, I wanna get hype, too. I wanna see my Nigga shine on TV, I wanna see/hear what the media thinks about my player in ANALYTICAL form, fuck them dumb ass tweets, it's always the same stuff. 2K even be running out of endorsements in the first season, the fuck. Live is much more detailed, as far as BASKETBALL. I didn't come to a BASKETBALL game for Niggas on Snapchat during timeouts and somebody singing every game. They could've at least change the voices to seem like different singers, AT LEAST that. That weak ass Pregame/Halftime/Postgame presentation, I don't even be watching it 80% of the time. If Live and 2K were to get together one year and one year only, I think that'll be the best sports game to ever exist, hands-down. 2K's graphics and gameplay with Live's concepts, presentation, and it's ESPN deal. I know that's gone be hard. Sadly we'll never be blessed with such a treat. 2K just has better gameplay, that's it. They devote all of their efforts to making the game like Life. In no way shape or form is NBA Live 18 better than NBA 2K18. 2K is still the premier franchise and has been for a while now. It has fluent animations, beautiful graphics, and excellent modes that will always be there for the next release to keep you occupied. But what 2K lacks is the fun factor. Gone is grinding to progress and instead you are forced to pay for VC. Some people love to spend real money on VC, but other gamers prefer to grind and that’s difficult to do in 2K nowadays. It’s fine with the cosmetics, but even then they are still going overboard with that concept. Live allows you to grind and have fun progressing your player. And ironically, EA isn’t cramming micro transactions down your throat. The animations on Live aren’t fluent and the gameplay isn’t as smooth as 2K, but this game is showing that EA can still produce a decent basketball game for a more casual gamer base and for those who prefer something other than 2K. I give Live 18 a 7/10. I want it to be more than just a grinder’s paradise and there are game modes that draw my attention, but ones I’ve been used to in Madden and 2K like Franchise fails in that aspect in Live. WNBA is fun, but I wish they made more out of it instead of exhibition. I love how they update player looks and I love the determination. EA isn’t ready to give up on Live and I hope I don’t have to either.

VC..like me, I work, overtime, and say you've got a girl, or girls, you'll be a casual gamer by default due to spare time constraints. but if say you have mad time, comfort of parent's house, all bills & food paid, yes you have time to grind grind grind. I don't, so if I can shortcut & just pay for something via VC/DLC, I will. the grinders don't understand working class spare time. but 2K gets it
1st of all the picture you used says it all. Live doesn't do the most important thing that 2k gets 1000% better than Live 18. Realistic 5 on 5 NBA gameplay. All the cutscenes, updates, park play, clothes, hair cuts, halftime shows, etc doesn't hide that fact. Live 18 ain't even better than NBA 2k11.
Lets be real: Live 18 is really bad. HOWEVER, it did to a couple things well and has been decently successful, so maybe they'll build on that success, fix the gameplay (which is the only really horrible aspect of the game) and release a good basketball game that can rival 2k.

People can trash Live all they want, I played the 10 hour demo for the first time since Live 08 and it's alot closer than people think. It's not there yet, but it's close enough that it might get interesting soon.

Gameplay is horrible and choppy on Live. There is no question that gameplay and gameplay feel is WAY better than live. 2k is smoother, and graphics are way better. Controls are way better. Sure, live might have better cut scenes and menus and shit, but who gives a fuck about any of that shit? Lol
NBA Live player movement is too slow. Shot release speed is realistic but attacking the rim seems sluggish. All the "great presentation" shit is just EA looking at how NFL 2K flipped the script on Madden.
Sure NBA live is good but it's still an EA game and eventually EA will stop making a quality game and will try to shove a piece of shit down your throat. This game right here is good just too hook you in. But once you start to fall in love with the franchise that's when they start charging you money and giving you have finished games.
