As I've loved Leslie for over 31 years, yes, I can understand SOME of the lyrics only because I've listened to him over and over, and have a few Chinese friends I've bugged to try to help me understand the lyrics to the songs. When I am lucky a movie he is in has one of his songs and it is subtitled. But music to me transcends even lyrics (although HIGHLY important). His voice touches something in me that no singer before or since has ever done. His voice touches my soul. I don't need lyrics when some of his songs make me cry and others make me happy-I feel his intent and although lyrics would be wonderful, I haven't had them for the most part and he still gives me chills when he sings and brings sunshine to my soul^^ .
@AutumnMistDance: You're absolutely right. Leslie ever shared that whenever he sang a song, he would first imagined the story to that song in his head before he could expressed it out in his singing. That's why his songs touches the souls of many. He connected deeply with many of us. I, too listened to his songs since I was a child. So it's been about 30 years too for me. I'm from Singapore btw. Until today, I still missed him dearly. He is indeed a legend. Irreplaceable. There's something about him, not just his voice and singing. Unfortunately you can't understand Cantonese... I came across many videos on youtube in which he was interviewed and also those where his friends spoke about him... They showed/ revealed a more personal, intimate side of him. There's so much more to Leslie. Such a pity that his life was cut short. He must be severely tormented by the depressing spirit to take that path of no return...
No kidding, I just recently bought Lesile CD, it comes in 3. Not missing out the DVD, too!! It's for myself, and for my kids to learn about and know what a great super star he is and he became a legend!!!!
