- We review the Hamilton Beach The Scoop single serve coffee maker. Could this be the best single serve coffee maker on the market? Watch the video for the full review. This coffee maker allows you to use any ground coffee to make either an 8 oz cup or a 14 oz travel mug without using K cups or any proprietary coffee system, just use your favorite ground coffee. This machine is a great alternative to Keurig and you help save the environment since there is not need to use plastic K cups.

Good luck

Thanks for reviewing this.
Just got my machine today and love it. The coffee comes out piping hot and delicious. I haven't measured the temperature but it's definitely hotter than my old Keurig machine. I used to keep the Keurig unplugged until I needed to use it so it would actually take longer to brew a cup than the Scoop. Also glad I don't have to buy those insanely expensive coffee pods anymore.
That's great, just saving money on pods and helping the environment is worth it. Only drawback I noticed after months of use, is that not all the water you put in the reservoir comes out but overall great single cup machine.
@@daP.A I measured 191 degrees F for the coffee brewed from an unprimed cold machine! I knew it was hot because i couldn't hold the cup with bare hands. Wonder if the manufacturer made this change or just normal variability from one machine to another.
Could k cups be used on the machine?
Even I have the same machine and it works very nicely. The best thing is that you can try out different types of coffee. I have the Good&Gathers South American coffees. Peruvian, Nicaraguan, also Ethiopian 😄😄
Update to say I've been using mine daily for 2 years and still going strong
This was very helpful. Thank you.
Np, thank you for leaving a comment
Super helpful!! Thank you :)
I love mine, now I gotta clean it.
I’m gonna get this . Thank you.
Good machine and environmentally friendly
So cool my husband would love this! For his birthday
Great gift
Great review. Thank you.
thanks!
Agree with him, And I also agree that it certainly doesnt make the coffee hot enough, but its easy so I use it more than my aero press which makes a really good cup of coffee.
I just got this and I love it. So much better than my crusty old kureg.
Less waste better for the environment
greetings. thank you for a nice video. my gf got this machine for free and had not a clue how to use it.
Great review! I’m buying this I have a Keurig and I don’t like it I feel like the coffee taste bitter.
Love this machine! I’ve had like 3 in 15 years
great machine, mine is still going strong. Thanks for commenting.
Interesting thanks for the review, something to consider. I'm sick of the expense of k-cups.
good reliable machine with minimal environmental impact compare to the cups. thanks for your comment, subscribe for more videos.
Thank you for making this video
hope it helped you make a better decision. We are still using this on a daily basis.
@@daP.A I did purchase it and I am more than happy with it, perfect for my personal need
I have one. It's a better cup but not as good as if you have pressure flow. As far as it being a "sturdy" product, mine is 4 years old. About once every couple of months I run vinegar through it.
If you have a cup that tells you how many oz you can do any oz of coffee from 1 oz to 14 oz of coffee
Thank you
i have owned 2 of these machines and love the coffee it makes. if you want the water hotter to brew the coffee warm the water you put in and it will be hotter when it comes outl
Defeats the purpose if you pre heat the water
Do you know if the water hose is removable for cleaning? These tend to grow mold over time as was discovered in the Keurig.
not sure, you need to descale it once in in awhile as will all coffee machines
you can probably run some white vinegar thru once a week to help! that worked in my old keurig
Is the place you put the water rubber or plastic?
How about adding warm or boiling water instead of cold water?
It says Automatic Shut off, Is that true ??
I just ordered I hope the cup won't change my coffee's test, since is metal.🤔
good machine
So you put the amount of water you want to Brew right? There is no setting on size? It's whatever you put into it it will Brew?
Personal cup
But if you pull your coffee into a heated cup.
what's the little basket on the side of the filter for?
Reusable filter
what is the function of that little thing (filter basket?) inside the scoop by the handle ?
Coffee filter, no pods just fill it with ground coffee
so what is the small filter area in the coffee scoop for?
The coffee filter itself
The water drips thou the coffee maker,I end up with a water paddle
. Use three times and got the same results.
I have one, and mines took a poop today it have a blue blinking light?
Brew button was pressed with no water in reservoir. Turn off add water and try again.
The temp is a deal breaker for me, needs to brew a minimum of 200 degrees. Would have been nice to run a cycle of hot water to warm up the mug as I feel a lot of heat loss happens there.
The multiple metal mesh layers absorb some of that too I think.
I removed the scoop and stuck a thermometer directly under the spout and measured 185-200 over the course of the brew. It gets hotter as time goes on.
Ordered mine today from Amazon for $44.
Great machine for daily use. One issue I have notice now that I have used it for a long time is that if you want a full cup of coffee you need to out a little more than a cup of water to yield a full cup. Other than this it's a great coffee maker.
@@daP.A yes the grounds retain some water but easy to compensate for. Thanks for the excellent review. You convinced me to purchase one.
Does anyone use these for ice coffee?
I don't see why you can't
How many watts is this coffeemaker, Thanks
1200W
thanks! is it bpa free?
Yes
@@daP.A that was a fast response thank you :) where did you find that btw? i tried searching but never saw
@@yandhi4202 got mine from target
It doesn’t come with a travel mug?
No
Amei a minha
Muito boa maquina
where is the serial number located?
HELP!!! Overflows no matter how small my scoop is :(
I would clean the scoop and filter basket in the dishwasher it may have particulates in the filter.
I hope that helps
We found the cause 👍
It’s decaf coffee - go figure!
Regular works perfectly just not decaf 😟
Wish I'd gotten this one. Oh well. When mine dies I'll get one. Can't stand k cup coffee makers. Too much plastic.
I agree too much waste with k cup
I got mines for a dollar lol
This machine makes weak coffee
nice and simple...and a cold cup of coffee. wtf?
Not cold, but not hitting the ideal brewing temperature between 200-220'
But, no one is claiming that it makes bitter coffee, so that's good.
