- Gypsy Jazz Lesson by Sven Jungbeck
Attention:
In this lesson i say several times b instead of Bb.
I hope you forgive me, it is because in Germany we have b and h instead of Bb and b.
Throughout this tune only Bb happens! Thank you
Sven, I'm glad you keep doing these, they are enjoyable and helpful. I hope you continue.
Thanks Sven, loving these Proper Chords videos. Such a handy way to learn Gypsy Jazz voicings and progressions, even if I already have the chart.
Such a good lesson!! It's so helpful that you give some many different options of chords you can play over the progression. Also very nice that you explain with music theory why the chords are being played. Such good work and best guitar lesson on This song by far on TH-cam. Make more of these man!!
Greetings Ludwig from Belgium
great lesson but can we all take some time to appreciate that beautieful Höfner guitar and the awesome sound of it?
I think I’ve watched this 5 or 6 times now. I think this video is gonna get a bump if Robin Nolan’s project video takes off. Cheers And thank you for your terrific and important videos!! I’m a big fan always!!
Wenn es eine chord lesson gibt, die ich mir gewünscht habe dann die zu Dark Eyes. instant like!
I love your videos Sven, they're just excellent tutorials. Thank you so much for taking the time to make them and put them on TH-cam.
Thank you for your work, my friend! This guy, here in Argentina, is very thankful with you for doing this ^^
Great tune, great lesson. Thanks so much Sven.
Ah, what a gift you are Sven. Thank you.
Extrodinaire! Wow. Merci! Just opened my YEUX 👀! These shapes and combinations and tricks are going to be such a game changer, AND Give me so much to work on and it's going to take my comping straight to the next level!
FANTASTIC walk through. I was able to follow along wonderfully. You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you so much.
I subscribed in a heart beat!
thank you so much!
I am always surprised to see the down votes. How can anyone find something to criticize here? If these people are so talented that they find these lessons beneath them, they simply don’t have to watch. Meanwhile for the rest of us who need the help and appreciate Sven’s efforts, a huge thank you for making this easy to understand.
Totally agree
thanks for sharing your knowledge! I hope to see more! thanks again!
Excellent lesson,, gonna enjoy your channel..
your lessons are so good. Thank you!😊
Thx man!
Thank you for putting together such a great lesson. Prost!!!
Gracias Sven!!
I love all of your lessons!! Can't wait to get drunk and play this song!! 😎
Thanks for all of the chord explanations! I really appreciate it! Those interchangeable and extended chords (like 1/2 diminished) are handy aren't they!?!?
Very nice...as usual!
Thank to your videos I’m getting used to these voicings ;P
Thank you very much Sven for the excellent content and great explanation.
Very clear lesson. You teach well!
It's OK messing up B flat with B, C sharp with C, etc. You show and tell us the left hand locations. To me that's a thousand times better than only saying the chords right.
Jes,
i noticed it and wrote in into the description, instead of doing the whole lesson again ;)
very nice lessons thanks a lot
Thanks Sven. Very clever ways of playing efficiently. I will practise at 1/4 speed and maybe eventually get up to half the speed you play ;^) PS You have a brilliant la pompe style.
Cool lesson, thanks!
Very nice lesson & such a great tune, it's not surprising there are many versions in many countries & languages. Not everyone can make use of the thumb for bass notes when forming a complex chord, it depends on your individual bone structure & flexibility & in fact many, if not most players rarely or never use their thumbs. If you can it's a useful addition. I broke my pinky & ring finger in my chord hand years ago so some 4 finger & many 4+ thumb chords are difficult to play but I can still play most of the chord. Enough to make it work & if Django can do it, I've got no excuse! :-)
Viel dank für diene gute jazz lektion!
At least on one of Django's recordings (1940) they did not play Bb but instead back to D minor. The first time I heard Dark Eyes was in the 1950's by Chet Atkins. He definitely did not play Bb (he recorded in E minor so Bb would have been C which he did not play.) It seems that now days on most recordings they do play the Bb. I wonder when that came into the changes. Also, most classical renditions of Dark Eyes do not include the Bb chord.
Brawooooooooooooioi Sven Traumann Feeling you heartbreker ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Great Stuff, Thank you very much
really helpful, many thanks
Sven wußte nicht das du so gutes Feeling im singen hast Ver good

Hello Sven Thank you so much for this great lesson ! What kind of strings you have on your HOFNER guitar ?
Gypsy strings, I think D’addario in this video….
My thumb don’t go this wide have you any Tipps ❤️
I've been seeing a lot of people use m7b5 voicings for m6 (for obvious reason) but is the entirely kosher to do?
It is, minor 6 and m7b5 is exactly the same thing.
Dm6: d f a b
Bm7b5,: b d f a.
That means they share the same voicing, patterns, everything
@@SvenJungbeck yeah but even without a bassist?
@@Dcham312 it that context: definitely.
When you do fingerstyle the bass note makes a difference but the things I'm teaching here are the common solutions of the style (gypsy jazz) I promise 😉
Isn't the song in 3/4?
No, some versions may use it as an arrangement idea, but the general song is 4/4
How about Djangology
that will be probably the next one!
Do you keep saying B instead of Bb?
We say B and H, or B and Bb its confusing in Germany!
Sven😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
And a one and a two and a one two three four
In czech rep. we ahave too B and H :D
Ah, I didn't knew! I've travelled to praha 2 times! very beautiful and musically city ;)
Yeah. By the way in May we have every year romane festival in Praha. This year coming Stochelo Rosenberg, Angelo Debare and Travolo Schmidd. I have tickets for front seat :) I invite everybody, come to Prague :D
sounds good, which date? I play a little Tour with Joscho Stephan in May, in France and Luxembourg. I think 17th and 18th, that week..
28.5. 20:00h. Wow, i watched your videos with Josho...Well great job! Respect to you, you can play with one of best gypsy jazz players ever. For me he is smeghead :D He is SO TECHNICAL guy.. And you have great feeling for rhytm. And i can´t understand how you can bend your ring finger in some chords- almost 90° angle :D
