The hard disk cannot be accessed.
Before replacing the HDD unit
Copy the address book data to an SD card from the HDD with SP5846-051 if possible.
After installing the new HDD unit
1. Do SP5832-001 to format the hard disk.
2. Do SP5853-001 to copy the preset stamp data from the firmware to the hard disk.
3. Do SP5846-052 to copy back the address book to the hard disk from the SD card to
which you have already copied the address book data if possible.
4. Turn the main power switch off/on.
Disposal of HDD Units
1. Never remove an HDD unit from the work site without the consent of the client.
2. If the customer has any concerns about the security of any information on the HDD, the HDD must remain with the customer for disposal or safe keeping.
3. The HDD may contain proprietary or classified (Confidential, Secret) information. Specifically, the HDD contains document server documents and data stored in temporary files created automatically during copy job sorting and jam recovery. Such data is stored on the HDD in a special format so it cannot normally be read but can be recovered with illegal methods.
Reinstallation:
Explain to the customer that the following information stored on the HDD is lost when the HDD is replaced: document server documents, fixed stamps, document server address book
Electrical Components:
- The address book and document server documents (if needed) must be input again.
- If the customer is using the Data Overwrite Security or the Data Encryption feature, these applications must be installed again. For more, see "Installation".
- If the customer is using the HDD Encryption Unit, the encryption key must be restored after replacing the HDD unit. For details, see the installation procedure for the HDD Encryption Unit.
After Installing the HDD
1. Do SP5832-001 to format the hard disk.
2. Do SP5853-001 to copy the preset stamp data from the firmware to the hard disk.
3. Do SP5846-040 to copy the address book to the hard disk from the controller board.
4. Do SP5846-041 to let the user get access to the address book.
5. Turn the main power switch off/on.
Error Message code:
21 Cannot access memory - HDD connection incorrect or replace HDD.
30 No HDD available for stamp data download - HDD connection incorrect or replace HDD.
Problem Service Call Copier Error sc:
sc822 3003: HDD defective / HDD harness disconnected, defective / Controller board defective
sc822 3004: No response to the self-diagnostic command from the ASIC to the HDD - HDD defective
sc589 The HDD is not correctly installed / No HDD installed / Unformatted HDD / The encryption key on the controller is different from the one on the HDD / Install the HDD correctly / Initialize the HDD.
sc860 HDD startup error at main power on / HDD is not initialized / Label data is corrupted / Defective HDD / Initialize the HDD with SP5832-001.
sc861 HDD re-try failure / Harness between HDD and controller board disconnected, defective / HDD power connector disconnected / HDD defective / Controller board defective
sc862 Bad sector number error / Format the HDD with SP5-832-002 / Replace the HDD
sc863 HDD data read failure / HDD defective
sc864 HDD data CRC error / HDD defective
sc865 HDD access error / HDD defective
sc870 Address book data error / Do SP5846-046 (Initialize All Setting & Addr Book) to reset all address book data / Reset the user information with SP5832-006 (HDD Formatting- User Information) / Replace the HDDs.
sc872 HDD mail receive data error / HDD defective The machine is turned off while the HDD is being accessed / Do SP5832-007 to format the mail RX data on the HDD.
sc873 HDD mail send data error / Do SP5832-008 (Format HDD - Mail TX Data) to initialize the HDD / Replace the HDD

After replacing the disc in the copier, of course you need to format it. The software update has nothing to do with the HDD. I discuss any updates in another movie.

Ricoh allows you to format it from service mode after connecting a new drive. If you have a new sod, the copier will suggest the format itself.

@@MrRicoh Thank you for the response. It just formatted when I rebooted the copier. Unfortunately I rebooted too quickly again and the system reverted to default settings. But the formatting was never a problem. It just happened automatically. I wish there was a way to peak inside the Linux structure.
