The Madagascar trilogy is very controversial because of its existentially challenging content and disturbing visuals, but there is a lot of political commentary underneath that people usually ignore, especially in the second one when Alex acts like a goof in front of the Africans, because of how society has depicted African culture. Truly challenging stuff.
Agreed. The scene in the first film where Alex gives Marty a snowball is representative of this. Marty dumps the snowball among the other presents, and the visual storytelling there is that Marty is sick of Alex’s presents.

Alex finds his parents and has an emotional journey about identity, classism and family. Alex also can’t recognise which Marty is the real one. It's so sweet how Alex was convincing Adum that his childhood crushes aren't weird. You can hear how embarrassed he was getting, and I thought that was really nice
It's always embarrassing trying to explain those kinds of feelings But when you find somebody who crushed on the same characters: in sync 10/10 inseparable homies
All of Sardonicast has lead to this exact moment: where Ralph and Adam must witness Alex’s true love for the greatest film trilogy ever made! Penguins and Mort galore! (With a dash of Afro Circus for good measure)
Say whatever you want about The Lion King remake (believe me, I have mixed feelings about it), but at least the CGI looks better there than the cutout picture of Will Smith's head on a blue body.
I really love the way that your different voices fill different spaces in the frequency spectrum with all the spikes and overtones, it's really beautiful
I might be the only one but I’d really like to hear more of Adum talking about his experiences in life and how it’s effected him. I think it’s super important to talk about. If there’s any way that Adum could do that I think it’d be really valuable. There’s so much I would have loved to have asked him.
Adam, I respect for so many reasons, but I respect you so much in particular for talking about your problems with addiction. It’s incredibly brave to talk about that on this large of a platform. I’ve known a lot of people struggling with addiction, but I feel i didn’t get it fully. What you said really put things into perspective for me. Thank you so much. You’re living proof that addicts can bounce back with the right mindset.
So I just listened to Adam's drug answer and it was pretty decent. I went into this answer wanting to love it. Adam's drug talk was good, but nothing really stood out for me. It was enough for me to be emotionally invested, but it was the most cliché story regarding addiction, and some of what he said didn't make sense. I mean you say you're going clean but you still drink alcohol? YOU'RE GOING AGAINST YOUR OWN SET OF RULES! ...and I'm giving his story a 6 out of 10.
He didn't contextualize it properly. Some of the darker aspects of Canada's liberal society is the high frequency of single mothers, drug addictions, rave culture, identity crisis, homelessness, joblessness, hopelessness, suffering. Adam is a millionaire youtuber but there are thousands like him who aren't successful, despite being intelligent and well adjusted, because they're coping with PTSD and addiction.
Speaking of censorship, the opening number of Aladdin "Arabian Nights" originally had a lyric that basically said"cut off your ear if they don't like your face" and replace it with something safer. You can hear it on OG soundtrack.
I remember seeing Madagascar 2 in a prescreening theater before the film came out and the animation was not finished yet. The scene where Moto Moto comes out of the water, he was T posing in it was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life in cinema
The fact that Ralph got the synopsis of Madagascar wrong right when he started made me chuckle, it's such a small mistake too. I haven't seen anyone correct him, probably cause everyone has buried this movie deep into their minds.
Why exactly is Disney the most cancerous company in the movie world? I feel like people are feeling somehow threatened by how powerful Disney is, but they don’t seem much worse than most major film studios or anything. Idk, I keep looking for the rationale for all the anti-Disney doom and gloom and it’s just like, who cares?
1:11:04 What I like to image IHE is thinking: „Just as planned! They have started arguing and taking sides in a sacred debate! They are on the right track to become disciples of the Madagascar cult. Soon they shall join me and we will enlighten the rest of the world of the brilliance of this movie series!“
Thanks to Adum for being open about your drug use. I've been addicted as well. The only way to alleviate the shame around addiction is to talk about it. Big Hugs.
Thank you for sharing about drug use Adum :). I have dealt with addiction in the same kind of situations, but am in a better place that regarding now. I still struggle with alcohol and nicotine, but nothing else now. But as for other viewers and fans in bad situations in their lives who do drugs regularly , it helps to hear someone they look up to having dealt with similar shit. Also agree that everything should be able to be discussed! Love you guys for sharing the same mentality! I use occasionally harder stuff (not opioids), but if ever I feel I`m not in control of it, I stop. Usually I don`t feel like taking more the day after. I would simply say enjoy drugs to an extent, but be safe, be with friends, and don`t binge!
I would absolutely love to see a "Groundhog Day"-premised movie with Nicolas Cage playing every character. Done right, a movie like this would most definitely compete for the place of my number one favourite, I'd even say.
The biggest surprise of the night since Disney essentially made this category for themselves. But do you think Into The Spiderverse won because it's a visually appealing and well structured film or because it had a black protagonist :/
@@overlookers Because the only thing the academy hates more then genre film is sequels and the Disney nominees were sequels. An anime winning is not gonna happen so it was really only a competition between Isle of Dogs and Spiderverse.
Adam thank you so much for sharing your story. I've never really struggled much with drug addiction but I do struggle a lot with depression and anxiety and it's nice to hear someone I really respect discuss it so openly, especially growing up. It meant so much, thank you.
No joke, I actually would watch an awards show hosted by you guys. It wouldn't have to be that elaborate (just a basic stream or something), and I'd definitely donate. I trust your opinions on film way more than the academy.

Affliction 2 : This Time it's Savage. perchance, i cud speculate paul schrader ironically keeping this sequel's story as almost the same overall plot as the first affliction. though ofc, instead of nic nolte losin all his shit over the course of its runtime, this one's finna b a slight [mmmaybe notso slight, heh] dramatization of daddy derek's personal life/struggles and how it's affected by: - his brief pop culture spotlight n fame during the initial yms/cool cat vids .... - to the swift self-sabotage of his public image during the ihe/yms fair use faux pas. - the downward spiral continues [in true taxi driver-esque fashion], n it all leads to his inevitable, public mental break n psychosis; it's finally set off after he endures overwhelming sacrifices n pressures while attempting to - against the wishes of all those folks nearest n dearest to daddy d - create n host his own weed themed convention. this con's potential success is envisioned by derek as some abstract way of proving his own existential worth to a world that he has quickly come to see as one which is volatile, at times even hostile, and ultimately cruel n uncaring. probably wud b best to let mr. schrader fill in the finer deets tbh. im sure he's good for it. p.s. oh uhh n if i had to pick a candidate for who'd portray mr savage on screen - that is, if he doesnt do the role himself - imma have to go with nic cage. for one, nic's gotta solid record of great character performances when theyre based in las vegas. second, paul n nic have worked well before this - most notably in the schrader-scripted, scorsese-directed film Bringing Out the Dead, which i consider to be an underrated gem for many reasons. lets make it happen folks.
1:51:38 I'm glad that Adam's doing better in life and is able to express himself through creativity - definitely resonated with what he said, (a few botched attempts and sectioned) you're trying to momentarily distract yourself so you can at least get through the day ❤

@Demilio Mason You're unironically a fan of these movies, especially based on your other replies. Fuck off for supporting such a scumbag company

While watching Madagascar 2 my brother said to me "Melman is the kind of name you would see on a math test" and I wholeheartedly agree

Read this in his voice specially the end in his exact cadence
@Sophia Pythagoras 💀
Adam's recovery is the most dissapointing thing since my son. And I don't even have one of those..
I love it when Ralph and Adam argue
Speaking of censorship, the opening number of Aladdin "Arabian Nights" originally had a lyric that basically said"cut off your ear if they don't like your face" and replace it with something safer.

I remember seeing Madagascar 2 in a prescreening theater before the film came out and the animation was not finished yet. The scene where Moto Moto comes out of the water, he was T posing in it was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life in cinema
Ralph's voice when he first speaks out against Madagascar 3 was vicious, i felt his hate and his disappointment with Alex and Adam.

The fact that Ralph got the synopsis of Madagascar wrong right when he started made me chuckle, it's such a small mistake too. I haven't seen anyone correct him, probably cause everyone has buried this movie deep into their minds.
I'm just genuinely happy to hear how much Alex enjoys talking about the Madagascar. It's nice to hear him laugh.
An entire episode about the most cancerous company in the movie world and trilogy which I loved in my childhood? Yes please
I agree DreamWorks is quite cancer.
Why exactly is Disney the most cancerous company in the movie world? I feel like people are feeling somehow threatened by how powerful Disney is, but they don’t seem much worse than most major film studios or anything.
At least Disney didn't win this year's Oscar for Best Animated movie.
The biggest surprise of the night since Disney essentially made this category for themselves. But do you think Into The Spiderverse won because it's a visually appealing and well structured film or because it had a black protagonist :/

Paul Schrader should make a movie about Derek Savage
Affliction 2 : This Time it's Savage.
perchance, i cud speculate paul schrader ironically keeping this sequel's story as almost the same overall plot as the first affliction. though ofc, instead of nic nolte losin all his shit over the course of its runtime, this one's finna b a slight [mmmaybe notso slight, heh] dramatization of daddy derek's personal life/struggles and how it's affected by:
- his brief pop culture spotlight n fame during the initial yms/cool cat vids ....
