I had no clue that Chef Kevin was the one who opened Gunshow! I’ve always wanted to give it a visit and now I want to even more! I live an hour south of Atlanta in the county that boarders Meriwether and it’s really cool to see the area I’ve grown up hunting and fishing get showcased.
This is amazing, and I just want to say thank you. Hunting, fishing and professional cooking are my 3 favourite types of media to consume. MeatEater has successfully brought those three things together in a way that is unmatched. Thank you, and please keep doing what you guys are doing.
This is a very southern episode of the connection from the community. My family goes back to the late 1800s in the south and gardening, hunting, foraging, etc. are still well and alive in that culture today and was put in to me and I don't even have much by way of connection to the south other than heritage.
The passion, creativity, and history that contributes to this food is incredible and something I wish more people would strive to relate to, myself included
Would’ve loved to win the lottery for this tasting! Appreciate your energy and enthusiasm Kevin. MeatEater always out here killing it out here in more ways than one!
The description of the food that chef Kevin was giving to the guests was beautiful. Beyond a bit of envy, I felt inspired and awed at the care and the process. Great episode.
@@jackiekinner3826 - I am, and thank you. Life is short; go do what you love with who you love. I got lucky, but you don’t have to have had cancer to gain perspective. Carpe diem!
I love watching southerners with mild accents talk with other southerners and crank that twang up a few notches. I see it on Smarter every day as well.
Native Georgian here (Paulding county). Great video. While talking about what fish to choose I was waiting for you to end up with Crappie, if for nothing other than the name. =D The real question is where can I get a MeatEater apron like yours?
At the risk of sounding like Steve, the tree mentioned in his grannies yard was not a pecan, but a catalpa worm tree. The nut shown also was not a pecan.
WOW!! That was amazing!! Its actually sad you had to prepare those awesome game animals like that so they'd eat it!! I'm kinda split by saying those people should eat TV Dinners while we enjoy the fruits of the harvest. But I appreciate what you're doing!! And I absolutely love your cooking videos!! 👍🏻👍🏻😋😋
When you take a 3+pound large mouth bass from the wherever you are, you are taking a breeder from the water. This is the main reason why we throw them back.
So... wait... Kevin, hounds, AND feral hogs??? New fav ep. of all the meateater stuff. How are you able to sell this stuff? Is it more like an event and you sell a ticket to the event?
Sabertooth really falls of to me due to hypocrisy. Kevin claims it's all about cooking "hyper-locally" while he currently made a video with like a dozen of japanese ingredients for a tartar sauce. And in this very episode he serves some sort of chinese mustard. Why not put your money where your mouth is and find something from Georgia? The right person for the job would be Jesse Griffiths, as he really understands and lives the concept of locality. The second problem are the guests. There is always the claim that they are trying to change the peoples perspectives on wild foods, but we never get to interact with the people. There are no reactions whatsoever. In the first installment of sabertooth they had some random rich people that have never put a foot into the woods in their life and now they were faceless stand-ins. I don't get the feeling that he reached any of his guests.
BUTTT..... How did the lmb go over?? I'm all about wild game, love it. I wanna come across a porcupine and a groundhog at the same time to really get the difference right maybe a raccoon in the mix. The bass flavor wise thoughts? (Texture)? MEH.
A true eye opening game changer. I am determined to start at 1 (or mebbe 10 as I hunt, fish, forage and cook already) and make that journey towards 100. Wow. 😊
have you checked DNR regs for eating ANY fish from the Atlanta (or metro) area? epic f-up here. no thanks please check your waters first before eating the fish. this fish source is 100% no eat. wtf are you doing serving this to the public
@@FranciscoGarcia-ni9eg I believe you can get a permit to sell. Snapping turtles and that's it. And I don't even think you're allowed to even sell your taxidermy mounts in Pennsylvania. I would have to double check on that, but I'm pretty sure that's what the law is!
That’s a federal law. Not sure how Sabertooth gets around it in GA unless he gives the food away. GA DNR is pretty strict. They monitor and go undercover at farmers’ markets because some people attempt to sell game meat at them so I don’t see how cooking and selling game meat is any different. Of course, wild hogs are not considered game. I have a friend who runs a BBQ stand in GA that serves all wild hog meat.
Idk the dishes were a bit pretentious...nothing an at home cook would be able to prepare so makes it unappealing. I want to see something I can go and make for friends and family. I like the show and his message just not the execution.
I've ate wild game and fish my whole life and I wouldn't touch anything that was cooked like this. How about rabbit dumplings or sawmill gravy, wild hog sausage or pulled barbecue, grilled duck wrapped in bacon or stuffed jalapeños, deer roast or stakes cooked the right way aka still juice instead of dry and overcooked? This is how I introduce people to wild game but you do your thing I guess.
Sorry you feel this way because if you aren't willing to try different ways of cooking game meat you are no better than people who think wild meat is below them. Have you never had Louisiana duck gumbo? or venison stew? You a missing out on some good eating.
@funyun maker I have and duck gumbo is amazing. But if one has to spend a week finding ingredients then cooking for a couple days it's kind of a turn off. All I'm saying is start people with something simple then let them experiment with recipes that they enjoy instead of over powering the meats with extravagant flavors and meal design off the bat. If that's what you want then go for it or if that style of restaurant is your thing then that's cool. Hints the you do your thing.
If you want people to be comfortable with trying new things don’t show them unattainable stuff. I want people to know where their food comes from but I show them a cast iron skillet steak or better yet a one skillet meal. Approachable, something anyone can do. Not a fekin tomato two years in the making. Your a master no doubt, I wish I could cook like you but I can’t, I do make good food though; respect us to please. All due respect.

Nice work, Kevin. I had a similar epiphany about life after my own cancer diagnosis in 2017. Great ethos, great show, great work!

What a great episode ! I love this guys passion for real food. I would love to eat at this restaurant! More episodes like this please !
"these are a couple of our pecan trees..." Clueless editor inserts clip of catalpa
Btw Piedmont Park was designed by Olmsted’s son, not Olmsted himself(the designer of Central Park)
Well done and another great episode!
This was an awesome video of get the food and eat the food. With over the top cooking style. Be a great place to visit and taste the food.
Awesome video! I resonated with so many elements of this story. Great work.
Jesus Tap Dancin Christ! This guy isn't playin around with his food. Expert_level!
You had me at large mouth bass.. but ended with a duck donut.. 🙌🙌 hallelujah
Dude, you cooked wood ducks. You're my new hero I love eating ducks especially trophy ducks.

Really just want to see Rinella but who am I to make demands
I really enjoyed watching this.
Another great episode of meateater content. Kudos 👏
absolutely bs. dnr says don't eat this fish. please check your dnr.
think about eating fish from urban ponds - you got pesticides, road runoff and same with hogs - i almost trust factory farms more
Entertaining content. I really wanted to see some patron reactions to the dishes.
Loved it!!! I'd give quite a bit to be able to be a part of a tasting. You, Mr Gillespie, are a genius.

that looks amazing. makes me hungry just watching it.

epic fup on meateaters
Chef kevin is a straight killa in the kitchen
Amazing work Chef. Truly elevated wild game cooking

I wish I was closer to atlanta, my palate is limited but id love to try dishes of this wild game
Awesome video. LM bass is my go too fish for a good fish fry!!!!
Cool to see content with Georgia in it.
Love the air view of the park. You can see the gazebo where my wife and I got engaged.
Why no footage of the dogs on the pig?
For sure thought I was about to watch Steven Ria hunt Sabertooth Tigers 😂💀
I am such a fan of Chef Kevin Gillespie. What a great look into the value of wild game!
except he is serving fish from a "no eat" zone. check your dnr first please
If that’s what they have to do to be appetizing and educational in the society we live in and to change what we’re going through. Then so be it.
Fantastic looking food
Deep fried bass is 🔥
Congratulations 👨🍳 chef
This place is on my bucket list to eat at

All of it looks so delicious! But for bass the only I eat it is as a ceviche. Large mouth isn’t my top fish to eat lol
