The instrument whose name you didn't know is a keyed fiddle. It's a traditional Swedish instrument. It's called Nyckelharpa in Swedish and Nøkkelharpe in Norwegian. (Im Deutschen wird das Instrument als Schlüsselfidel oder Schlüsselgeige bezeichnet.) The guy who plays this instrument here, John Stenersen, is not an original member of Gåte (he first played with them on ther Norwegian tour a few months ago, replacing the vocalist's brother who had left the band a few weeks before), but he is the leader (and only founding member left) of the Norwegian female-fronted Folk Rock/Metal band Bergtatt. Another traditional instrument he plays is the hurdy-gurdy (im Deutschen: Drehleier). Since it seems that your reactions focus on ESC-related songs, I recommend to check out this live concert of Bergtatt from 2016 just for your own entertainment: th-cam.com/video/rrcHo3jdcU8/w-d-xo.html I also suggest to check out all the clips you find on Gåte's official channel on your own, especially the live stuff. One of their most impressive live renditions, which is not to be found in their channel, is this one of the song "Margit Hjukse" (especially pay attention to the guitarist during the second half of the song - don't do this at home!): th-cam.com/video/OnNjBs6ULlE/w-d-xo.html Just a little warning: This is not easy-listening stuff!
Oh wow! Thank you so so much for all information! That´s very interesting. The Hurdy-gurdy I could meet last year from Paddy Gurdy. I really like this instrument. For sure I come back to your comment to check the videos here! ❤
@@bellamarcella If you like Gåte, there's also a chance you will like the female-fronted Swedish Folk Rock band Garmarna, which started in the early nineties and were also an inspiration for Gåte. Fun fact: in 1997, Garmarna participated in the Swedish pre-election for the ESC, but didn't make it. However, you can still watch their performance from the pre-election here: th-cam.com/video/U7qNPcd8zl4/w-d-xo.html There is also another connection between both bands, because the lyrics of the title track of Garmarna's album "Vedergällningen" (which means "revenge") from 1999 tell the same story as the lyrics of Gåte's "Ulveham", the difference being that in Garmarna's song, it's a boy who gets transformed into a wolf, while in Gåte's song it's a girl. Since you mention that you like the hurdy-gurdy: Garmarna also use a hurdy-gurdy in several of their songs. And so does the Swedish Folk Rock band Hedningarna, who featured two (!) Finnish female singers on three of their albums, out of which IMO the album "Trä" is the best. Here's a live performance of the opening track of that album from 1999 (also featuring a hurdy-gurdy): th-cam.com/video/huBcZixVSOc/w-d-xo.html
NAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I had to check out their entire discography, and every song is magical and enchanting. They don't have a single bad song, which I can''t say about any other Eurovision act. They are just amazing.
As we say here on nisseberget, old Norway…just w o w……that song was kinda anonymous from the studio production…but just woooow…it blew me TOTALLY away breathless tonight…Subwoolfer,Tix….forget them…that was……I have no words to describe it…weve missed a scene performance for so many years…what a voice, what a stormy set on the scene…those pictures…everything…just…do we have a tiny small chance to W I N EUROVOSION this year…15 years since Rybak-Fairytale….OSLO25?????????????????????????????
