I worked at Walmart in the 90s.... Its amazing that the bar has sunk even lower since then. I mean when is it hitting rock bottom?
Depending on location. Some Walmarts don't even care enough about theft because their shrinkage is so low it doesn't make a difference in their bottom line. The one I worked at, management, would laugh about someone stealing because of that. I know one of the stockman, while I was there, actively stole regularly. He and a friend literally walked out with 2 computers and a TV (3 separate occasions). The 90yo greeter had no idea what she was looking at, so as long as you had something that resembled a receipt you were golden.

I made the mistake of wearing a black polo to Walmart one day, on my way he from work. I work at a sheriff department. A lady came up to me, and asked where a particular item was. She got super pissed when I told her I didn't know. She then asked how long I'd worked there. I told her I didn't while pointing at the Sheriff logo on my shirt and my badge on my belt. She was still annoyed and said that my clothes looked like a Walmart uniform. I told her that I didn't think Walmart had gotten rough enough for them to start issuing associates with Glocks and handcuffs. She was still pissed.

I used to work on commercial roofs. Something you wouldn't know unless you worked on commercial roofs of the black rubber type is that they are _filthy_. I'd been wearing shorts, it was a hot day, and unbeknownst to me, I'd managed to get a giant smear of black rubber roof crud on my leg from ankle to knee.
Two ladies who were obviously very into some religion or other (overdressed by normal standards let alone Walmart standards) mistook me for a beggar and started loudly offering to pray for me. But they didn't listen to me when I told them I was neither injured nor destitute. Everything I tried to say just resulted in louder howls of "God Bless You!" I finally got up and walked away and they literally screamed God Bless You at my back, over and over again, as I left.
Another time, while I was working that same job - okay, I drove a white work van with no windows, and those are always creepy, I'd heard all sorts of creeper van jokes before. But this one older lady in a walmart parking lot actually began screaming that me and my work partner were p3dos. A guy, I assume her son, came running and literally dragged her away, stopping the scene as it was just starting.
My local walmart had so much trouble with people who didn't need the mobility scooters using them anyway that they keep the scooters locked up and they'll only get them out for people with a medical card saying they need them. Other than that it's really tame by Walmart standards.

But his country accent makes it sound like "pale males." You can see the question mark forming over my head. I asked "What do you want?"
    "Pale males."
    "What...??"
Points to a pack of *_Pall Malls._*

I used to work a late schedule at my job. Since I kept the same hours on the weekend and Walmart was open 24 hours I did a lot of shopping late at night.
On one particular evening I was in the food section headed towards the back of the building. I was doing the usual thing glancing down each aisle as I passed them.
When I got to the bread aisle there was a homeless looking guy at the other end. Took me a second to register what was wrong with that picture. He was bent way over grabbing something off the bottom shelf. His apparently oversized sweat pants were hanging off him enough it was exposing everything to just above his knees. No underwear so the crack of doom and a trollish war hammer were in full view.
When he stood up they were still hanging off him showing the full moon in all it's pock marked goryness. I didn't buy any bread that night.

I'm 8.5 months pregnant, but still wearing the modified military uniform. It hides the belly in a way that makes me just look fat.
Hubby, son (8) and I pull into the parking for expectant mothers because I can barely walk. Some Karen starts flipping out at me, asking for my unit and my COs name and all that jazz. After a couple minutes of this (I know it's not my most professional moment, but I haven't been able to get a word in) I lift my tunic and reveal my massive belly and modified pants. This shut her up right quick so I grab hubby's arm for support and continue walking in.

Not Walmart but Value Village, which is like the Walmart of thrift stores. I witnessed a scruffy homeless dude crap his pants, go into one of the washrooms, and come out wearing a different pair of pants that were definitely stolen. He got into an argument with the least threatening security guard I’ve ever seen (4’11 tall skinny woman, not to judge) and he was given the choice to either pay for the pants or give them back. He got in the line to pay WITH ME and he started talking to himself like a schizophrenic would. That was uncomfortable, although I do feel bad for him as he wasn’t mentally sound

My local Walmart sometimes has people stop you to check your receipts. I guess there must have been a slight uptick in thefts. I had just spent $100 on various personal items and work related clothing (shorts, non slip shoes, headband, hairties, pens, sweatshirt, etc as I worked in a bakery as one of the only guys with long hair) so I was already pretty miffed because that ate into my weekend spending.
I got accosted trying to leave because the senile door greeter (who saw me 20 minutes before) was getting heated I was thieving from right under him. He and his coworkers were watching us normies fight over the two self checkouts working in the entire store for what seemed like an eternity. If I was thieving, I wouldnt have been standing there for 15 minutes.
I bolted and ran out the door to the far end of the parking lot where I had parked, got in and sped off. The dude had followed me halfway. I now use the other entrance when I stop there for anything. Less quick and convenient but its so I don't have to deal with getting harassed.

TL:DR Walmart motto should be “Non Olet” because they don’t care if you stink, as long as your money doesn’t !
There is a tale about the Roman emperor Vespasian who was criticised by his son for putting a tax on urine collection (to make ammonia for leather tanning 🤓), the son reasoned that, it was not dignifying for and Emperor to make money from human waste. Vespasian replied by taking a bunch of coins, smelling them and said the famous line “Non olet” that means it doesn’t smell (ask lawyers, they still use it to mean it’s good to go).

I don't even understand half the stories here because in my experience working at Walmart in the past it was pretty much company policy to not try to stop shoplifters as it could result in a huge amount of legal trouble you are only allowed to provide aggressive customer service and basically try to make them so nervous they put the item back
Also of course the store isn't really going to chase after somebody for stealing something like a pack of screwdrivers or whatever it's literally not worth the money to chase them for that crap

Fortunately I have never worked at Wally world. In 2013, I broke my heel and ankle. My husband and I had just started dating, and I was on Percocet. I saw that there was one powered wheel chair left, and I saw a rather obese woman going towards it like I was. She was trying to race me. I crutched faster than her, and won. She was beyond angry. She started yelling at me.
Obese woman: HEY THAT'S FOR DISABLED PEOPLE!!

Obese woman: I CAN'T SHOP BECAUSE OF YOU!!

    Obese woman: I'm disabled!!

When individuals are the only ones that say that they don't know if they were manipulated by cults and the others give a lot of time to go through what they want to hear about from their friends, that's how you are doing in your life and it was about to get a bigger bottle of wine and it is common for the good ones to go into depth on their way to defend themselves and Alex Jones

Former Walmart employee but can tell you yes it does suck working there, they are cheap bastards, management(mostly not entirely) is not your friend they just work you for profits they don’t care about you and yes every single Walmart has at least one person which lead to “people of Walmart”. Ok my people of Walmart and will try to keep it short 1 was a man-child we nicknamed “Hotwheels” who no surprise collected hot wheels and was there pretty much everyday. I was bringing the merch from the back to the store, manager said not to take toys out until he leaves, kept going in and out her bitched after about 30mins of me not bringing them out and asked to speak to my manager which i did tell her and she talked to him and she made it clear i wasn’t in trouble since i did what she said. 2 was a idiot kid who rode a display bike around the store and when he tried to drift he crashed into a shelf display and he was lucky he crashed into paper towels cause last week the display was glass pickle jars. 3rd and final a bunch of drunk and high cause they stank of weed idiots had me pack them a fish while i was stocking the pet aisle and asked me how long would a fish live if they put it in a bowl of beer.

Didn’t work at Walmart a friend of mine did and i would frequently visit them. One day while visiting their was a stabbing at the store and a guy was on the ground bleeding out. One of the workers their was also a nurse and went to render aid. The manager stopped her from giving aid and threatened to fire her if she did. She said that guy is dying the manager said the lawsuit from dying will be less than the lawsuit if she helps and he dies. They put a circle of caution tape around the guy and waited while aid came. Guy started to go into shock and was suffering from a collapsed lung the employee moved the shit aside and applied a field tracheotomy and saved the guys life long enough for the emt’s to get their. The manager fired her on the spot and she told him the lawsuit they just initiated from them firing her is about to be bigger than either lawsuit they just tried to avoid. Everyone clapped it was like a movie i have no clue what happened next but i know that same Walmart shutdown two years later and i like to think she had something to do with it.

Everyone beaches about Walmart, but think about it what other Supercenters exist anymore where you can get GM and grocery? Only other options if you're lucky are Target Supercenter. They don't have as good of food selection.
