Yeah...that was clever...and I'm still waiting...(for my Shadow deck. It's the only one I ordered). The antique deck (the edging looks better than the deck). The browned paper cardstock looks good, but they might have done better to print black looking like a tattoo instead of that glossy black lying on the surface of the card. Didn't you see any walkthroughs of the color before buying the Royal Deck? I was surprised that you were surprised.
I saw the promotional images of Antique and Royal, but never really gave them much of a second look. If I don’t immediately like a deck, I don’t dwell on it. I probably should have checked out a couple reviews before getting these two...they’re perfectly fine, just not for me.
@@melissazupan6026 Yeah, Simon did a walkthrough comparison of all 4 decks at once which was worth a quick look and helped me decide which one I wanted. I decided on the Shadow one more from a historical/technical standpoint than one I think I'm actually going to end up using. I'm wondering if it's going to signal a trend in card production.
Ooh... Another really informative and valuable review. Thanks M! - I have to say that I'm actually more tempted by the b&w deck you pulled out for comparison. Where/how did you get that deck?
Oh man, you’re not going to like this answer. That black and white card isn’t part of a black and white deck. It’s an extra card from The 1909 Art Restoration Deck. There are three cards in that deck that give some info on RWS history and the ethos of the restoration. On the back of those cards, the artist put up three images from Waite’s 1909 article in The Occult Review. That Fool is just one of them. I’ll have a walkthrough of that deck and some comparisons soon...I got it and the new Neo Riders on the same day, so I did a bit of filming.
@@melissazupan6026 that card is beautiful I wish there was a whole deck just like it. In some of the antique decks I've been looking at there seems to be a holographic shift in the line work, could this mean that they're not authentic?
Hi Melissa, thanks for sharing your insight on these decks. You got me curious, what would be a good line work depiction of Pixie’s artwork that has some coloration? The classic US Games? Thank you!
Yeah, to be honest the early yellow/blue box printing from US Games and Rider have some pretty stellar printing. The CS Tarot is a copy of one of these early decks, but Conrad has changed out backgrounds and such with a really pretty crackle effect. It's probably my favorite new deck at the moment.
The strident colors, you can use it as disharmonious or blocked energies in an reading with several decks.
Helpful- thank you!
