@@amiller2121 If the Raptors want to compete in the next 2-3 years they need someone like Poeltl, there is a reason they traded for him in the first place. Unless we plan on drafting a big, we will just have to trade and get another good big if we trade Poeltl so why trade him in the first place? The only reason to trade him is to tank for the next 2-3 years.

Raps are in a position of strength at this deadline. Don't worry Ben, even if we do nothing, Raps can still make this all work for them. Our core us young and wants to stay, they're bought into a system with a coach who's all about them. We have a young star who's already leading our squad to 8 of 10 wins and playing the best D of their lives. If Jak goes, we'll benefit to be sure.

I'd love to see the Raps try ro make a move for Obi Toppin thinking he'd pair well with Scottie. Getting Suggs in the end would be kinda awesome too. I've never really been a Jak fan, not that I didn't like him, but this year his chemistry and playmaking has shown me he's still got room to develop. We also have Olynyk who is a pretty solid playmaking big so it wouldn't be the end of the world. It'll come down to how much we have to pay Poeltl if we keep him. Only untouchables are IQ, Gradey, RJ, Scottie, I see these guys are the locked in parts to this build. Christian Wood I've heard quite a bit about being good or having a high ceiling so who knows, I'm saying this as someone who knows little about him.
You could always flip that first round pick down the line ….but I don’t think this rumour is even being considered by raptors or anyone other than you brother 🤙
you cant flip jakob poeltl for a first down the road, he will be asking for 14-16 million raise in his early 2025 summer extension. if masai doesnt give him that, jakob poeltl is worth two 2nds and filler at 2026 trade deadline as an expiring because teams know he will opt out of his player option at the end of 2026 season to become a ufa.

From my perspective Poeltl, Barnes, and Barrett are untouchable from the starting five, while Boucher and Dick are untouchable from the bench. Keep Robinson, Walter and Mitchell.
Brown, Olynyk, Omoruyi, Quickley and Agbaji are the expendables assets.
Yes yes yes. That would be awesome for Yakob and it would make the Lakers competitor and we would get a good return for draft picks and allow us to lose more this year which is a good thing and get a higher draft pick for next year.

My understanding is the Laker and Warriors are desperate. Send Bruce Brown, Poeltl and Mitchel to the Lakers, get the 2031 1st or a bunch of 2nds. Send Lebron to the Warriors and Hayes to the Warriors. Raptors send small contracts like Battle and Agbaji to the Warriors. Warriors send Wiggins, Kuminga, and filler contracts to the Raptors to make the money work like Looney, Payton and Anderson type contracts. Get at least a few 2nds and I really would prefer that Warriors 2025 pick with light protections

The raptors found their core piece in Poetl, and even arguably overpaid to get him. So they gotta make the most of him in the next couple years and get competitive next season.

Does the Lakers still have Koloko? If he is healthy it would be great to see him back in a package IF Poeltl was to be traded. But Poeltl is Gold and I would love for him to stay.
He literally passed up on us to go be there. We kept him around under our wing to heal and have a home and he ditched us. Koloko was a fine prospect but he hasn't shown anything with the Lakers.. albeit in not many minutes. I mean maybe he has had change of heart but the man had every opportunity to be here and chose the Lakers instead

I can see Jakob getting traded in a three team with Lebron going to Golden State and us getting Wiggins. We would need at least 4 first rounders at a minimum though for that to happen. I don't want it to happen, but Lakers are desperate and that's the kind of desperate trade they'd make.

We have to trade IQ or RJ to even get him and not be a 2nd apron team next year. Seems way too early in the rebuild for that for a guy who doesn't fit modern basketball well at all. I also don't agree with having no Center worthy of manning a defence for what players we do have to grow under. Meaning if Yak does go (I am one of his biggest fans) we have to have a clear Center to fill in his role atleast reasonably well. That may be Comche one day, just not yet
Most fans are just so impatient, we just started a rebuild and have loads of players that need reps.. plus we will be adding 3 new rookies this draft. So optimally to me is to trade off some Vets, keep some to usher in the youngins and worry about cashing in for a player that fits better in the future if need be. There are ways for us to remain atleast in the bottom 4 to 8 in the league this season without a complete utter tank, while maintaining good chemistry and worry about putting forth our best effort to win games next year. So yea I want Flagg, but I would gladly take Edgecombe or any other high pick. If your franchised just traded the farm for low value, can't hurt to have some patience and let our staff develop a blue chip prospect. Play the young guys next year and all of sudden someone new is available and we have all these young guys and assets to play with
Anyway, I just don't think its the end of the world if we don't get a top 2 pick.. but I would say trying to speed up this process too early could ruin what we got going real quick

Everything credible suggest Raps are big game hunting for a big piece on the right timeline for the current team @ the moment - but nothing is close. In Fact Raps have been linked to keeping POETL and adding JV to back him up and play together sometimes for matchup reasons - presuming Washington doesn't unload him prior. Hang tight.
