I wish I had watched this when my baby was newborn, I even watched the boba videos and had no idea you are supposed to fold the newborn insert.

Glad you've found my video helpful. Yes, it's got the poppers to make the insert cushion smaller when they're teeny

Thank you so much for this wonderful demonstration. Could I ask if you have any weight or height guidelines for the different methods? Or how to otherwise tell when baby is ready for the non-folded insert/no insert? Thanks!!

Thanks for your questions. You want the carrier to fit little one from one knee-pit to the other - so their lower leg hands freely. For newborns that are curled up the smallest position is needed. Once they've uncurled and are a bit bigger, the non-folded insert will fit. It's not something that can be done by weight or height, unfortunately, as it's to do with their developmental stage and also the length of their thighs.
If baby is in between sizes, it is better to have the carrier a little too narrow (ie using the cushion) than to over-extend their legs.
Generally you can unfolded the insert once baby is a few months old. The top edge of the carrier needs to sit no higher than the nape of baby's neck and - once they have full head control - no lower than their armpits.
If the carrier fits no higher than the nape of their neck without the insert - and fits from one knee to the other so the lower leg can swing freely - the insert can be removed. Again, this hugely varies depending on the torso length of the baby and their leg length.
If you're not sure, it's better to keep using the insert a while longer (providing the top edge of the carrier is no lower than baby's armpits).
      Hope that helps!

Great video! Our carrier seems to be too tight around our baby's legs (when taking it off, she has marks on the skin around her knees from the pressure). Any advice how we can improve the fit in that area? We are worried to cut off circulation.

Hi! Thanks for your question. It sounds like a pelvic tuck will help. My video here shows this in more detail: th-cam.com/video/N4a4lCLzDhE/w-d-xo.html

My baby seems to twist or straighten his body when I try to get him on the insert. So I don't always get his legs right, unless he is asleep. Any tips? He is a tall 4 month old.

It's easier to adjust your baby's position once the carrier is over your shoulders. Make sure the cushion is fully upright under his bottom, then you can do a gently pelvic tuck once the carrier is holding him securely. Hope that helps!
