Hi Dr. Dray, this is probably a stupid question. You mention that humectants pull water from the deeper layers of skin. Why would we want to do that? Wouldn’t that dry skin out further?
Hi Dr Dray, I like how you outlined your ethics at the beginning of the video, they are admirable and only part of your appeal! I bought Dr Sam’s moisturiser about a month ago, I was a bit apprehensive as I didn’t get on with the Flawless Cleanser. I have rosacea and very reactive skin and I have a feeling my skin isn’t really sure about niacinamide. When I started using it my face felt very tingly, this settled after 20mins and over the period of a week or so the tingling got less and less, though it’s still there for a few minutes. My main issue is that it causes anything I put on afterwards to pill up, Ive tried 3 different sunscreens but to no avail. I am currently using it as a last step in my nightly skincare routine. I’m not sure if it would be a repeat purchase for me, I think Avene extreme tolerance cream (another shea butter based one) is a better fit for me. I love the formulations of both flawless cleanser and flawless moisturiser and I am 😞 they are not a better match. Thanks for the review!
I wouldnt change my Cerave cream for this, first ever cream that actually cures my dryness. Hope she'll release a spf though, now that I would purchase :). Thanks for the review!

I have been using her cleanser since it started shipping to the US and same with the moisturizer. I’m on Aczone and tretinoin for acne, and once I started using the cleanser I could see a faster improvement than I saw with CeRave. The moisturizer has been taking a little more adjustment because the first couple of nights I had tiny beads of water around my nose area, which the Dr. Sam team tried to address (so nice of them!) but I think the issue was that I applied too much. 🤷🏻♀️ It has been fine since. I’m truly in love with her products and won’t use anything else. It’s always nice to know what you think though, Dr Dray! Makes me feel even the more confident in my choice! ❤️

Thanks for such a thorough review. I was wondering how Dr. Sam’s moisturizer compares to those by Elta MD. The price is about the same, but the shipping costs are not. I’ve been using Dr. Sam’s face wash and really like it as it doesn’t dry out my skin or burn. So, I’m tempted to try the moisturizer.
Dr. Dray, what is the main difference between the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream and the PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion? Thank you! 😀 And wishing you and Mom Dray a healthy, happy 2019! ❤️
La Roche Posay's "Lipikar" line is also based on shea butter, glycerine and niacinamide, and is quite affordable in UK given the amount you get (200 ml, 400 ml). Their balm feels quite heavy though. I wonder if their "Baby Lipikar" line feels any better....
Dr Dray in one of your videos you said theres no evidence that alcohol compromises either the moisture or lipid barrier of the skin and that the fear mongering is baseless. Please correct me if I dont remember this claim properly and would you be able to refer me to a study as well. Thank you so much and happy holidays
Congrats on hitting the 200+K subs! Weirdly for whatever reason Cerave is not a fave brand of mine but I have Dr Sams moisturizer and LOVE IT. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2019 to you and your darling mother!
I have been looking a lot of Videos about Dr Sam‘s products and i have been thinking a lot of Times if i should test these products. After this review i was finally conviced that i have to test both. So, i ordered both to Germany 😍
I'm really interested in trying this SPF.The fact that Dr.Sam Bunting (unlike cult's favorite Dr.Barbara Sturm who doesn't encourage wearing SPF often, because otherwise you'll damage your skin and you won't be able to get vitamin D) encourages wearing SPF every single day all the time is telling me she really took this product seriously.
Would you consider reviewing some of the Marcelle skin care products? I had someone recommend it but can't tell if it's just gimmicks or actually worth purchasing
I so wish you could be my dermatologist, you are amazing!!! I was wondering if you could tell me if Retin A Micro is just as effective as regular Retin A for anti aging?
Oh my goodness! I ordered both of Dr Sam’s products on January 6. I received them in Louisiana, USA, beautifully and carefully packaged, yesterday, January 14. I used both last night, and the experience was luxurious. Everything Dr. Dray says about them is accurate. I kept touching my face after the Flawless moisturizer. I am in love, inasmuch as it’s possible to be in love with skincare. I woke with supple, plump skin! 🥰 And, you guys, I’m 59 with acne rosacea. These products are dreamy. No redness. Zero irritation. I will be ordering them for as long as I can. Even with shipping, I still saved more money than if I had purchased Drunk Elephant, e.g. (sorry, DE fans ...no disrespect intended.) I FINALLY got it right. I just know it ~ even though I’ve had Dr. Sam’s for less than 24 hours. May I add - the packaging is minimalistic and elegant. ♥️♥️
since it is in promiseb, a prescription moisturizer for seborrheic dermatitis, andother skin disease related to pityrosporum, logic would follow that it is
Weirdly enough, in France you don't have access to a lot of niacinamide-containing and fragrance-free face moisturizers. You have LRP Toleriane ultra night, Mixa pro-tolerance, Cerave Facial moisturizing lotion. Noticeably Cerave, Paula's choice, First Aid Beauty have brought niacinamide from the US to France. However for the body, the AP+ or PP lines, and Bepanthen have niacinamide.
@Dr Dray can you please review the EltaMD AM Therapy & PM. They seem to both have logical ingredients. But would love to hear your opinion on which one might be better for who. They seem similar and I don’t think they need to be used in the AM & PM accordingly. They both have niacinamide.
I’ve tried the cerave night cream and don’t care for it. I think the retinol irritated my skin. I ordered DR Sam. Yes, it’s expensive but I have used Drunk Elephant repeatedly so if it’s better I will switch.
I used the Flawless Moisturizer this evening for the first time and it feels a bit stingy and hot on my skin. I assume it is from the niacinamide. Is this a normal reaction to 5% niacinamide?
@@catherinepark7352 The UK's CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion is exactly the same as the American PM Moisturiser. I nearly bought Dr Sams as a treat before I realised this. I bought it when it was 25% off so it was a third of the price of Dr Sams.
Thanks Dr Dray for such a great review. I learn so much for your and have noticed great improvements in my skin with your advice. Have you done a Q&A on crepey skin on arms/legs? Thanks!!
Love your medical, logical, clear explanations,as a physician myself. You stand out of other vloggers by far! I wonder if you could review the smoothing optical blur Unyfying Anthelios spf 50 by La Roche Posay, which is one of the few sunscreens i can use, having a very oily ,acne prone skin.I find it cosmetically elegant, works well under make-up,,but ressembling more to a primer, you really cannot use too much so I m wondering if it is efficatious enough. I mean the european version.Thank you so much, have a wonderful 2019!
it is not necessary to wash it off; once it penetrates the keratinocytes it is transported to the nucleus by CRABP type II, where it binds to nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RAR) ...washing it off the following morning makes no difference p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 9.5px Times} span.s1 {font: 9.5px Helvetica}
If im remembering correctly, you said in one of your videos that citric acid is a big no-no in skincare. Ive been avoiding it like the plague whenever I see it in ingredients. Is citric acid as important to avoid in cleansers as in moisturizers?
No, I never said that. Citric acid is more than fine. Citrus oils and citrus is to be avoided, but citric acid is fine...it is used to buffer the pH of the product
I love your videos. I have a question for you though. I know you used to recommend Differin gel. I've been needing to implement a retinol into my skincare. I use to have prescribed Tretinoin (but my insurance said no more lady). So my question is.. Differin, Proactive (Adapalene?), and (a newer one) Curology, are they not all essentially the same thing? It seems from the info I have read these are all very similar, and have similar prices. I think Curology is Tretinoin, Differin and Proactiv are Adapalene? And I believe they're the same strength? Even though Curology is supposed to be a prescription.. is that bullshit? I just think its probably a marketing thing.. idk? Can I get your input pleaseee? 😘
I was reading all the comments and this does not have retinol so I am guessing it will be ok Dr Dray commented in one of her responses that it doesn’t contain retinol. Hope that helps. FYI the Flawless cleanser and moisturizer are awesome!!!
Are you sure the skin renewing night cream has retinol? I purposely chose to use it because it didn’t have retinol since I’m breastfeeding. Now I’m freaking out a little.

La Roche Posay's "Lipikar" line is also based on shea butter, glycerine and niacinamide, and is quite affordable in UK given the amount you get (200 ml, 400 ml). Their balm feels quite heavy though. I wonder if their "Baby Lipikar" line feels any better....
i like the lip balm...will have to try some of their others
Dr Dray in one of your videos you said theres no evidence that alcohol compromises either the moisture or lipid barrier of the skin and that the fear mongering is baseless. Please correct me if I dont remember this claim properly and would you be able to refer me to a study as well. Thank you so much and happy holidays
I said they were less drying and less irritating than soaps/detergents, and here is the referencewww.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/rr/rr5116.pdf
@@DrDrayzday thanks for the clarification Doc and the source 😁 keep up the great work
Congrats on hitting the 200+K subs! Weirdly for whatever reason Cerave is not a fave brand of mine but I have Dr Sams moisturizer and LOVE IT. Best wishes for a happy and healthy 2019 to you and your darling mother!
Thanks for your support!
Hi, Dr Dray! How did you use the COSRX PHA moisture cream? The same way as Neutrogena Hydroboost gel cream and Deep Dive Water Cream?
no it is a moisturizer that can be used alone...as opposed to a moisturizer that does not have enough occlusivity to be used alone
@@DrDrayzday thank you!
Excellent review! Thank you Dr Dray, wouldn’t Cerave facial moisturizing lotion p.m. be a very good alternative to the Dr. Sams flawless moisturizer?
yes, different ingredients though
Is it ok to use a moisturizer with retinol in the ingredients while also using a Retin-A cream?
I was wondering if you could tell me if Retin A Micro is just as effective as regular Retin A for anti aging?
it is
Oh my goodness!
(sorry, DE fans ...no disrespect intended.)
I FINALLY got it right. I just know it ~ even though I’ve had Dr. Sam’s for less than 24 hours.
May I add - the packaging is minimalistic and elegant. ♥️♥️
Glad to hear you like it!
Dr Dray i ordered it also based on your review and now ordered my second bottle ❤️. Very accurate review. Thank you so much for educating us
but is shea butter in this moisturiser fungal acne safe?
since it is in promiseb, a prescription moisturizer for seborrheic dermatitis, andother skin disease related to pityrosporum, logic would follow that it is
Thank you for this review. I just purchased the CeraVe Night Repair cream but this looks great! Thank you for the fantastic reviews!!!
Thanks for watching!
Happy Thursday Dr. Dray and everyone. I also enjoy Dr. Sam's videos.
lilies009 Happy Thursday Sweetie!! I hope you enjoy your Day!!
@@jackiemarsh2470wish you energy, and success all day. Have a great day!
Happy Thursday!
Can you review Glossier milky cleanser? It also has poloxamer.
See you tomorrow Dr Dray ..hope you had a wonderful Christmas! X
Enjoyed:)👍🏼 Thanks for the review!! I have been using Dr Sam’s cleanser and moisturizer and I’m loving both!! Happy Thursday;)🤠🐶
Susan Bochy Happy Thursday Ms Susan!! Have a Great Day!
I LOOOVE THIS MOISTURISER!
Freederm in the UK has niacinamide and no fragrance...are there any drugstrore brands besides LRP in France?
Thank you Dr. Dray for your honesty and sensible advice!
I hope you are enjoying your holiday!😘❤️🌹🌷🌺☕️
Happy Thursday!
Ive been using this for a few days and LOVE it!
Another great video, I have never heard any other u tuber speak of their concerns of the environment! Well done!
Thanks for watching
Dr. Dray do you know the percentages of niacinamide in the Flawless & CeraVe PM moisturizers and the CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream?
no, that is not disclosed...higher % is not necessarily more effective or appropriate though
Hi, Dr Sam's is 5%, don't know about cerave. We don't have a large range of cereve in the UK. I'm loving the flawless moisturiser and cleanser!
@@catherinepark7352 The UK's CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion is exactly the same as the American PM Moisturiser. I nearly bought Dr Sams as a treat before I realised this. I bought it when it was 25% off so it was a third of the price of Dr Sams.
@@elsierushworth2283 oh really? Thanks. I've heard great things about the PM cream 😊
@@catherinepark7352 I highly recommend it. No need to spend a fortune for good quality skincare. As Dr Davin regularly states "It's all Marketing" 😁
Dr dray ❤️... Do you recommend it for a 9 yr old boy ? Thanks
Thanks Dr Dray for such a great review. I learn so much for your and have noticed great improvements in my skin with your advice. Have you done a Q&A on crepey skin on arms/legs? Thanks!!
Is shea butter acne friendly? X
Dr. Dray - can you recommend a bubble bath that is beneficial for skin? Thank you.
bubble baths are not advise...very much the opposite of beneficial
Love your medical, logical, clear explanations,as a physician myself. You stand out of other vloggers by far! I wonder if you could review the smoothing optical blur Unyfying Anthelios spf 50 by La Roche Posay, which is one of the few sunscreens i can use, having a very oily ,acne prone skin.I find it cosmetically elegant, works well under make-up,,but ressembling more to a primer, you really cannot use too much so I m wondering if it is efficatious enough.
I mean the european version.Thank you so much, have a wonderful 2019!
How long does retin a micro stay active on the skin after application? Is it necessary to wash it off in the morning ?
it is not necessary to wash it off; once it penetrates the keratinocytes it is transported to the nucleus by CRABP type II, where it binds to nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RAR) ...washing it off the following morning makes no difference

A review on Kiehl’s products please??? Especially the midnight recovery oil!
Can we get Dr. Sams product in Canada?
Isn’t shea butter comedogenic? As far as I remember it breaks me out like crazy so although I really wanna buy it I am afraid 😅xx
Can you mix chemical and physical sunscreen?
If im remembering correctly, you said in one of your videos that citric acid is a big no-no in skincare. Ive been avoiding it like the plague whenever I see it in ingredients. Is citric acid as important to avoid in cleansers as in moisturizers?
No, I never said that. Citric acid is more than fine. Citrus oils and citrus is to be avoided, but citric acid is fine...it is used to buffer the pH of the product
ohh okay@@DrDrayzday
Will this work well on dehydrated acne prone skin?? Bc it has dimethicone so I’m kinda icky abt it
Thank you for this review. I'm a huge fan of Dr. Sam's cleanser and was considering giving this a try, and now I definitely will.
Thanks for watching
they are all the same drug, yes
Always good to see you and appreciate very much you're knowledge, research and reviews ❤️😊
How many ounces?
Here because Wayne goss recommended!!❤️
Price! Just that big hurdle. So expensive to get that here in Asia...
agree
Seriously informative intelligent fact based review as always ! Love you Dr. Dray !!!!
Is it okay to use the CeraVe Renewing Night Cream with prescription Tretinoin or would that be too irritating?
Melissa Ann I was wondering that too
Joann Orlando hopefully she sees this question then. 😊
I was reading all the comments and this does not have retinol so I am guessing it will be ok Dr Dray commented in one of her responses that it doesn’t contain retinol. Hope that helps. FYI the Flawless cleanser and moisturizer are awesome!!!
Joann Orlando Thanks! I’ve been wanting to try them but don’t want to pay the shipping and duties to get it to the U.S.
Are you sure the skin renewing night cream has retinol? I purposely chose to use it because it didn’t have retinol since I’m breastfeeding. Now I’m freaking out a little.
It doesn't have retinol. Im on tretinoin and I made sure!! The other products in this line have retinol though
it does not...i confused it with the serum, which does
She said it’s safe for pregnancy 😊
Thank you for such thorough information. Any thoughts on Dr. Perricone products?
i reviewed in ulta once
Thanks, checked out an oct. Ulta but didn't see it.@@DrDrayzday
