    Which would you choose between these two three-row SUV's?

    • @nj6441
      @nj6441 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I would choose Atlas mainly because of the 2nd row. And here is why I disagree that GH wins here, because only the Atlas offers either bench seat or captain's chairs on the top trim, but GH does not provide bench seats, which I think most families prefer because of the extra seat. Better if you have 3 kids and want more cargo space. Also looks wise, the Atlas stands out whereas GH is like a Rav 4 stretched out. GH wins in the mileage race for sure, but Atlas has adaptive headlights and is way cheaper on the top trims. I wouldn't care about mileage much if I save 5K, because I need to drive for at least 9 years to break even on that 5K unless I drive way more than that.
      But this is a good review and comparison video. Keep it up.

    Great review I recently leased the 2024 Atlas Cross Spot you are spot on about the gas, the interior, the drive etc. The seats are also a little short but I must say I love the style, sun roof, the sport mode is kinda fun and the other day when going to the Dentist I had a guy in an Audi convertible rolled up along side roll down his window and say hey I really like that. I personally just think it’s a sharper looking vehicle.

    As Canadians, subjected to below freezing temperatures, how poorly do hybrid fuel efficiency figures fair due to the freezing temperatures? My experience with a Camry hybrid in Minnesota was that freezing temperatures negated the hybrid fuel efficiencies as the gas engine would be running the majority of the time.

      Interesting. Minnesota can get very cold.

    If you live in a hotter climate area like Vegas, The Atlas 2nd row A/C vents aren't very good (mounted on the floor center counsel) and opposed to the ceiling vents on the Grand Highlander. I own both of them.

    You have some really good content. You need to fix the volume issues. Several instances the volume goes up or down or the speaker's voice fades out during an explanation. Kinda annoying like you're saying about some of the features of the vehicles

    I don't understand why no one is pointing out the real difference between the third rows of the Toyota Grand Highlander and the VW Atlas. I personally tested both, and the VW Atlas is significantly more spacious. In the Highlander, my head was practically touching the roof, making it uncomfortable for an adult. On the other hand, the Atlas had plenty of head and legroom, making it far more suitable for adult passengers. If third-row space is important to you, the Atlas is the clear winner.

    As I've seen in this video
    I didn't see fog lamps on atlas and that's a big safety features different on this two,do atlas have fog lamps n other trim level???

      No fog lights on the 2024 refresh across all trims. They’ve been integrated into the headlights.

    I wanted the Grand Highlander but didn't want Captain's chairs. The Captain's chair is only available in the top-of-line Atlas, which is fine. The top VW model with bench seating has almost everything! The Toyota is relatively low-powered, with 19 lbs/hp. The Altas has only 16 lbs/HP, which is the same as my RX350 V6. Once loaded with people and luggage, the Highlander will not be responsive and must stay in the slow lane on hills. On the other hand, I get the sense that the small VW 1.8L engine will not be reliable. It's just being asked to do too much. I also wonder about using the touch screen for everything. It takes extra steps, and that is not safe. I suppose that VW will argue that the safety features compensate for that? I'm not even going to test the Grand Highlander. I will look at the Atlas. I rented one a few years ago and loved it.

      2024 Atlas is a 2.0 Turbo. In US & Canada it was alway had 2.0 or 3.6 VR6. Also like Golf R & Arteon, Atlas gets the same Ea888 Evo4 engine which I believe should be powerful enough to carry anything up to 5000 ponds. Another thing I have seen and most reviewers fails to mention Atlas get tow hitch for their second trim which is just a fwd and not awd. Toyota GH XLE does not come standard.

    I was looking at both SUV but the deciding factor was that the insurance was going to be $700 per year more on the Toyota. They said it was because of the car thefts.

    I have to disagree about the 2nd row. The Atlas for me is the hands down winner for the way it tilts forward to get in the back and the ease that it folds flat and it is a bench so when you fold it down you have a much better load floor for hauling stuff.

    Atlas is a very nice SUV. The GH powertrain options put in a different league in terms of efficiency and power. So my pic would be the GH. But since it’s probably a two-year wait, I’d drive over to Honda and get a pilot with a V6.😂

  • @jn9604
    @jn9604 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Fuel economy side personally I enjoyed driving the Atlas far more the Ganrd HIghlander. I thought the ride on ghte GH was far to soft and bouncy and the steering was too light and the engine was lod and course under acceleration. Of course the GH is probably the better buy due to reliability over the long term. My logical half says GH and my emotional half says Atlas.

    Think about that:
    Upfront you’re paying 5000- 10.000 more because mr.Toyota is a greedy man, then you have to wait atleast a year to get the car and when you get the car, the car is a year old, plus atleast a $500 a year more on insurance on top of that you’re driving a cheap made car compared to the ultimate german engineering,
    Wise to say Atlas wins big time in this race.

  • @jn9604

    I would never buy a vehicle with a panaoramic sunroof. Far to much risk for leakage and problems. I have never understood why you would cut a big whole in the roof of a car.

    Beauty and the Beast 😂 I am referring to the vehicles…
    Steph and Jay, you both look very beautiful.
    The only way the VW can be a better buy than the Toyota, if it was $10K price difference. Owners will need at least that to replace the engine, transmission and any electronics after 5 years of ownership on the VW. Without a doubt if anyone wants to buy, get the Toyota, if leasing then still get the Toyota 😂. If you don’t drive and just want to showcase a vehicle on the driveway then get the VW 😂

      Are you talking about the right powertrain? It's not the same Turbo engine that comes in previous Atlas models. It's a tuned down version of the turbo 4 from the Golf R.

      Or you could just spend 4K on a 10 year bumper to bumper VW warranty and pocket the extra 6k. Also, the difference between a hybrid limited and SEL is about 12k after incentives, assuming you can get the GH without a markup, and you can drive home in the atlas today. The GH would be about a 6 month wait. I agree that Toyotas are generally more reliable when you factor all these together the decision isn’t so cut and dry
